plavix

1210142 tn?1266077031 I do agree with you. In Europe though the cardiologist advise their patients to stop Plavix after 12 months. Spoke with couple German professors and they stated that most of the patients do not expirience any problems at all after stopping it.
Avatar n tn I really think the problem is "nobody knows". It was decided from research that nobody benefited being on plavix for more than a year, but sometimes a patient would develop clots in stents after stopping the medication. There are no obvious reasons why this occurs with some people, and not others. This makes Doctors very cautious about stopping the medication. I stopped mine after a year and suffered no clots, but I was one of the lucky ones.
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
Avatar m tn So, depending on how long she will have to take the plavix for, and what she is taking it for, it may actually be less expensive to use the plavix.
Avatar n tn i agreed with cblmn7 & echotech . the pain (if it is pain & not muscular twitches) is not because of stent . you should inform this to your cardiologist & he will take care of it. arnieg ; i got a drug eluted stent in May-2009 (promus) , following a heart attack . & i am only 36 , so this was some wake up call..!! anways..today morning i had my follow-up meeting with my cardio & he also mentioned that i will need to take plavix & ASA for at least 1 year .
Avatar m tn I have never had a b/p problem or a heart issue before my blockages were discovered. I keep reading all this information about how long to take the Plavix. There are so many studies and each has a different recommendation. My cardiologist said that I can discontinue. It is sounding to me that it is a gamble any direction you go. In this one year I have had what I think is severe hair loss and change in texture and my nails are now showing problems.
482517 tn?1208551378 After a DES in my Circumflex, how long is it neccessary to take plavix? Will aspirin do the trick as well? Dr says we can stop it "...if I want to take my chances..." (not a good answer) What's the longest anyone's taken (taking) it w/no probs? Lastly, if I have restenosis, or a throw a clot in my Circumflex, would it be over or is that a "secondary" area?
Avatar m tn Did your doctor determine that you risk was so high that he wanted you on Plavix long term, these are the only circumstances that using Plavix long term would be.
Avatar n tn However, concerns from the US have reached the UK where patients have been reported to form clots after stopping plavix. The thing to remember is there are two different forms of blockage in a stent. There is scar tissue (overgrowth of the artery lining), and there is thrombus (clot formed by platelets due to irregularities in the stent). Scar tissue usually forms over the first few weeks, but thrombus can still be an issue long term.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar n tn First stent and the second time, I developed allergic reaction to Plavix, second time with Ticlid, had 2 small seisures, tried Plavix again with Benadryl, this time developed intercranial bleeding. Angina symptoms have reoccured, but cardiologists will not tell me what I can do if I cannot take blood thinners (I have allergic reactions or bad reactions to almost all meds). I'm just told, "We'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Avatar n tn a peck and a hug around the neck, boy that brings back some memories, now about the indigestion, that would depend on how long you have been on the Plavix, and also besides the obvious blood thinning action of Plavix what brought you to be on it? I recieved a heart stent in 09' and they put me on it then along with the aspirin. This year my doctor said that I could now go back on prilosec. The gov.
Avatar m tn When you came off plavix before, how long had you been taking it? How long have you had these stents? When you stopped your plavix and had a heart attack in 2 days, was it a clot in the stents or somewhere else?
Avatar n tn hi i had a stent done 2months ago .how long do one take this medication for.
Avatar m tn How long am I supposed to take plavix after stint placement and am I supposed to cut it off abruptly? Are ther any dangers of taking plavix with aspiran?
745393 tn?1345077196 Will the numbness ever go away. Because I had to have a stent put in the doctor says that I have to take the med plavix for a year and also the 81mg. of aspirin. Is this a bit much. Suppose to thin the blood, but is the aspirin not enought?, are just the plavix and not the aspirin.
Avatar m tn depending on the type of stent you get and how bad your cad is will determine how long you stay on certain meds, like plavix some people take it for a year after a DES I have to take plavix for life. then there is other meds you may have to take depending on circumstances. i take metorporol, plavix, vytorin, lisinipril and a couple others for the rest of my life to help keep me from another heart attack, diet and excercise will help the most though.
Avatar n tn i`m tired & fatigued every morning after taking plavix ,how long should this continue before seeing a doctor?
255163 tn?1376869746 Does anyone have any info on how long Plavix has been on the market and are there any long term probs with taking this med... I understand that Plavix was initially designed as a short term solution (6 mts post surgery), but then they found high mortality rates with people coming off the med so they decided to make it a med you take for life post angio or surgery. I'll try and find the article, but curious to find out if anyone knows more...
Avatar n tn He seemed concerned but I have had no discomfort, chest pain or shortness of breath or tiredness. How long do stents last? I heard that the medicated ones from Boston Scientific are not all that great.
Avatar n tn I am 67yom, and wanted to know more about taking Plavix (s/p stent x1). when was it introduce for usage ?, and How long can one take it with out hurting other parts of body?...My Dr seems to think that I'm to old to know anybetter (just from him always changing the subject or answering the phone just when I need an answer). Avatar f tn they want me to switch from amiodarone to multaq but I have gotten contradicting information on how to do so from my current EP and the other one I had and my cardiologist is telling me something different about how to safely switch from amiodarone to multaq so I am very confused and I am interested to see what anyone would have to say to what I have written and maybe can give me some insight on this subject.. Thank you.
