plavix

Avatar m tn I have a high deductibule ins policy I have found several web sights that offer generic Plavix or [clopidogrel] that is suginifantly cheeper than brand name Plavix Will the generic work as good as plavix? Or is it just a plasebo?
Avatar m tn However, I looked up the study and indeed, Prylosec can have an effect with Plavix in some people. I have to say, Jim, that a full 325 mg aspirin plus 150 mg of Plavix is a gorilla dose. As a caveat... When taking my 75mg of Plavix and 81mg aspirin 1 1/2 years ago, I developed a bowel obstruction which led to emergency surgery. There were no options, the surgery had to take place, and quickly as I showed signs of kidney failure, a BNP test showed my heart was affected, etc.
976897 tn?1379167602 Just to complicate the Plavix/generic Plavix issue, I was told to stop taking Plavix after bypass surgery, and the bruising immediately became a bigger issue and remains a bigger problem today. I'm not sure the bruising/bleeding issue is completely understood. I still take 80mg aspirin, and wonder if that is the cause. pippi331, sometimes one is allergic to the filler with generic drugs. I'd sure report your situation as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn About 4 years ago during a routine Echo stress we discovered I had blockage in the LAD and diagonal. I had drug-eluting stents put in and I have been on 75MG Plavix, 50MG Toprol XL, 81mg aspirin, and 80mg simvastatin ever since. I never had any symptoms and I still have none. Just wondering about a professional opinion about being on these medications for life as well as the efficacy of generic drugs. I obviously am also concerned about possible restenosis in the stents.
Avatar n tn There are 3 serious medical conditions (right-side heart failure, uncontrolled bleeding, and clots (pulmonary embolism and thrombosis) that requires consideration when prescribing medication. Anticoagulants are effective in preventing pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, but there is a risk for bleeding. More than 80 percent of patients with massive PE die within the first two hours after onset, mainly from right-sided heart failure.
Avatar m tn there is both tdf and etv generic at very low price (tdf from 21usd per month) in many asian countries etv lost patent so etv generic should be available soon in US while tdf might take few years
Avatar m tn The newer blood thinners are apixaban and dabigatran, also known as Pradaxa and are expensive. The main concern is that specific antidotes for bleeding are available for warfarin but not yet developed for the new drugs. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi Ray....I agree w/ed34. Warfarin is generic for Coumadin. Since it is the generic for brand Coumadin it is given in same dose. Mom took Warfarin for the 1st three months after her event. Month four, the pharmacy was temporarily out so I took brand name Coumadin (more$$, of course ;-) but it was the exact same dose. Month five, she was back on Warfarin. Best to you...
Avatar f tn That being said, perhaps you have been prescribed a beta blocker for the first time, or the dose of an existing beta blocker has been increased. This can cause breathlessness as well. Are you taking Plavix or the generic equivalent? I think the Endeavor stent is a drug eluting product and Plavix is recommended for any stent of that type. I had breathlessness after one stent procedure and it was discovered indeed I had a problem that needed attention, I would report your symptoms.
Avatar n tn I had a stomach ache one morning, and in a few hours I was in agony, and was diagnosed after a ambulance ride with a double bowel obstruction. It required surgery, and certainly my Plavix usage was a huge concern because of it by the surgeon. However, because they knew about it they took precautions which I don't quite understand, the operative report includes notes about additional platlets, some bleeding, and I was in the hospital for over a week.
Avatar n tn I take the generic Clopidogrel Bisulfate Tab 75. Had 3 stents in April 2009. I have to have dental work done. Deep cleaning and two fillings. My doctor said to go off medicine 3 to 5 days before procedure. Is this going to pose a risk?
Avatar f tn ve had to be cardioverted three times in six months. When my husband picked it up, the new prescription said Sotalol AF. In the past it has always been Sotalol HCL. I called the local pharmacy who told me they were the same thing. Didn't seem right, so I went to the company website where it says: "All new and existing patients currently taking BetapaceR (sotalol HCl) or generic sotalol for atrial fibrillation should be transferred to BetapaceAF™.
Avatar f tn how soon can offshore pharmacies (perhaps those based in India) make the generic entecavir (Baraclude) available to consumers? This would be a saving grace for those seeking a combination therapy with Baraclude and Viread.
Avatar m tn I have both bare-metal and drug eluding stents in place, four of each, and took Plavix for twelve years. I was asked to take the drug not only to keep clots from forming in my stents, but also to maximize blood flow in what are called collateral arteries, little ones that develop to help supply damaged areas of the heart. I recently had bypass surgery that was extremely successful, and have been taken off Plavix as I have no angina symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn Some doctors recommend 6 months to a year on Plavix and some recommend for life. Plavix will help to avoid having heart attacks and strokes. The blood in your mouth is most likely because of the Plavix along with the bruising. It is the side effects. The circulation is from your heart medication and heart medication makes you tired. You need the heart medication and Plavix and it would be risking to stop the Plavix.
Avatar m tn No till now not available in India but gelead announced taf generic version will available soon in india
1801781 tn?1461629469 Can I ask what country you live in. I'm asking because I also take Lexapro and live in the states. I was not aware that is now available in generic form. I'm hoping for this as I have no health insurance and the cost is really high with this med. Sorry I could'nt answer your question. I hope you do well on it.
482517 tn?1208551378 After a DES in my Circumflex, how long is it neccessary to take plavix? Will aspirin do the trick as well? Dr says we can stop it "...if I want to take my chances..." (not a good answer) What's the longest anyone's taken (taking) it w/no probs? Lastly, if I have restenosis, or a throw a clot in my Circumflex, would it be over or is that a "secondary" area?
Avatar f tn I have one Taxus 2 DES placed three years ago. I have been on aspirin and Plavix for three years. Just told by my cardiologist I should go off the Plavix. She said one year would have been sufficient as I have one stent in the diagonal and not a major artery. She said the rest of my vascular system was clean. The research I have done indicates the Taxus 2 stent is probably the worst stent available and has more restenosis as well as more malaposition problems which cause stent thrombosis.
Avatar f tn Incidentally I just posted a question on this forum about this subject b/c I want to know what happens in the US if I order online and the package goes to Customs. I know AU and the UK are cool but I really don't know about the US.
Avatar n tn I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
Avatar n tn he has been on Plavix for two years since the first one in 2008. my question is Plavix would reduce the risk of stroke but could not 100% prevent it, correct? I am not sure what is the cause yet this time. he is still in the process of going through all various types of tests and so far the doctor seems very comfortable with the results available; also he has totally recovered without any sign of stroke symptoms.
Avatar n tn Make sure that he also takes all medications prescribed and even the do not tell him when he leaves the hospital make sure that even if they put him on a blood thinner such as Plavix that he also takes a 81mg Aspirin a day. They did not tell us this when we left the hospital but we later found that out and it does seem to help.
