Plavix exercise

Common Questions and Answers about Plavix exercise

plavix

Avatar f tn I am still bothered by the heart spasms, but those started years after I stopped taking the Plavix. I do exercise, take many herbs and natural minerals and stuff to help with my heart. Walking is the best medicine I think. Take care and thanks for the notes.
Avatar m tn EF= 65% -Consider cardiac catherization I was wondering if a stent is 100% necessary, or could my father just take Plavix or Aspirin without stenting? Also, being my father has a good exercise capacity and an EF of 65%, if he does receive stents- how long do you think he’ll be on medicine for?
Avatar n tn I have three drug eluting stents in the LAD, two non-drug eluting stents and three drug eluting stents in my RCA. I stayed on Plavix for 1.5 years after the last stent, and been off Plavix for over a year with no restinosis. I do exercise daily, take Vytorin, 81mg aspirin, and follow a healthy heart diet very carefully. So far, no problems with restenosis, but believe me, I think about it every day.
255163 tn?1376869746 If so, did you ever have surgery where you had to stop the plavix for 7days. If your completly off the plavix, when were you able to stop it after the coated stents were put in?
Avatar m tn The best thing you can do is take your aspirin and plavix (or alternative). You should never miss a dose and never stop it unless approved by your cardiologist. To my knowledge, there is no specific diet that aids in this. However, diet, exercise, a positive mindset, keeping your blood pressure/cholesterol under control and getting screened for diabetes can all help in preventing further progression of heart disease. You should also qualify for cardiac rehabilitation.
Avatar n tn Will taking coumadin along with Plavix help in lowering my heart rate during exercise ? I just started at Cardiac Rehab and my heart rate went up to 174 during moderate movements. I just started back on the coumadin this afternoon.
Avatar f tn I have had some intermittent chest pain that comes and goes in a matter of seconds. Is this normal? Also question about walking exercise. I was walking a mile everyday before the stenting last week. Now I can get to the end of the street (probably 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile) and I have shortness of breath. Is this just in my head? Can I go further? Hate to be a "fraiddy cat" about exercising now. Should I push myself or is it too soon.
Avatar n tn They put in 2 short stents and first two and longer stent in the longer area overlapping with stent for 85% blockage. Sent home with Plavix, Altace (Ramiprimil) and Lipitor (Ran-Atorvastatin). plus ASA. Have only taken Plavix and ASA so far and have a sort of congested feeling in esophagus and stomach-Like mild indigestion, feeling full and feeling like stuffing self when eat. Still in shock and ajusting. I have Fibro so other limitations and my wife has alzheimers so that is a big stress.
Avatar m tn The medications could be helping with maintaining the blood flow to the heart. The commonest side effect with plavix is bleeding. Would advise you to limit your exercise schedule till your cardiologist approves of the same. Holter monitoring may help study your heart rhythm and will help to plan your therapy. Good luck & Regards.
Avatar n tn I had a stent placed one week ago today, was back in the hospital day before yesterday having an EGD and colonoscopy to tract down the source of some rectal bleeding (so they wouldn't have to take me off Plavix - results are internal hemorrhoids), yesterday I felt okay, today I'm exhausted and shaky. Shouldn't opening a blocked artery make me feel better? How long should it take to recover from 2 episodes of conscious sedation within the week? Or is there something else going on?
Avatar m tn The mixture of Metroprolol, Ezitrol, Lipitor, Ramipril, Isordil, Plavix, Nexium and Aspro and now Coralan leaves me feeling quite week and lathargic and always very tired. My BP is steady at around 100/60, my cholesterol is below 4. I did used to walk about 2km a day before I started Coralan even though I got angina, but now I feel I just dont have the energy to do the walk to see if I still get angina. Not sure what yer answer might be but thought Id write this down anyway.
Avatar f tn Do you think that medication for cholesterol and triglycerides and even taking plavix/aspirin can help me minimize any risks. Can I still work full time and exercise?
Avatar m tn I currently have stents and a ICD implant. I currently take plavix, coreg, zocor and a blood pressure med. The stents and ICD were done about 5-6 yrs ago. At the time my EJ was about 20 and now it is in the low 40's so I am pleased with this but my question is what can I do to get my EJ higher. It has been flat for the last 2 yrs. I do exercise daily and watch my diet.
Avatar f tn Is his doctor aware of the history of a bleeding ulcer that your post mentions? Has the ulcer completely healed? I certainly would make sure the doctor is aware of this. I know in my case, when taking the Plavix I couldn't drink. I love to drink wine and while on the Plavix one glass would go straight to my head. I felt drunk. And, yes,the bruising is terrible. I walk around with purple marks on my arms all the time.
Avatar n tn m assuming you are on aspirin and plavix therapy. There are really no guarantees, but blood thinners like aspirin and plavix reduces the chances of a blockage. Yes, blockages can come quickly. I've forgotten the percentages of restinosis, but they are less than 10%. I'd urge you to start some form of exercise, quit smoking or using tobacco in any form, and stay on a low cholesterol diet, and try to reduce stress in your life.
Avatar f tn i had a massive heart attack in june 2009 which i'm on medication for. my concern is i'm due to come off plavix in 1 month's time and heard a lot of bad thing's about coming off it.
Avatar n tn I have eight stents, I believe 4 coated, 4 non-coated. Some are Boston Scientific. I've had virtually no serious problems with resenosis of stents. I took Plavix and 81mg aspirin for a year after my last coated stent. Sometimes, in arteries that are small, I believe coated stents are more difficult to fit in place. In my opinion, an angiogram is a very safe way to get a very good look at the condition of the heart arteries. Proceed with confidence, and keep us informed.
Avatar f tn Taking Plavix indicates you have drug eluding stents. The a drug-eluting stents (DES) basically have a special drug that delivers the agent right at the site of the injury to the artery and prevents much of the scar tissue from recurring. Compared to the alternative bare metal stent and it is known that the likelihood of the arteries re-narrowing after drug-eluting stents are much less than after bare metal stents.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Plavix 75 MG daily. A recent plavix test showed it was not helping. Now my PA has me on 150 MG Plavix. I really bleed when scratched now. Should I take the Plavix test again to see if the increased dossage is working? I am also taking 325 mg asprin.
Avatar m tn Did your doctor determine that you risk was so high that he wanted you on Plavix long term, these are the only circumstances that using Plavix long term would be.
255163 tn?1376869746 My heart Dr will not let me go off the plavix and my surgeon will not do the surgery while on plavix. What happens in a situation like this?. I am between a rock and a hard place. If neither Dr gives in what do I do? If I have an attack and end up in the ER wouldn't they have to do emergency sugery?. Does this mean that anyone on plavix can never have surgery unless it's an ermergency. What is your opinion on going off plavix temporarily for surgery. I would welcome anyones advice.
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist would not let my dentist allow me to stop taking Plavix for even 5 days to alleviate my pain due to a cavity .The dentist is bent upon my discontinuing Plavix to enable filling of the cavity or do root canal to solve the problem.
Avatar n tn I do have CAD but when I first had those symptoms they were in the middle of the chest. I exercise daily and watch my diet. I am on plavix, asprin, lipitor, and blood pressure meds. I don not believe that this is heart related, symptoms are lower than the chest and when I exercise I do not have issues. Any thoughts........thank you !!!
