976897 tn?1379167602 I have been taking Plavix for 20 months. while taking the brand Plavix I had moderate bruising. I switched to generic Plavix 2 months ago & have experienced severe bruising. Anyone else experienced this with the generic?
329994 tn?1301663248 Bruising can be a side effect of plavix and it says online if you have this you should report it to your doctor/health care professional as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn I had two coated stents inserted March 22, 2010 and have been taking plavix, 81 mg aspirin and continue taking coumadin (5mg 6 days and 6 mgs 1 day a week). I have my blood tested for IN/PTR regularly. Since taking Plavix and aspirin I have severe bruising. I try to be careful but bruise just brushing against a doorway, for example. My dog was sitting on my lap and when he jumped off to the floor the pressure of lifting off caused bruising on both legs.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 75mg Plavix daily + 325mg Aspirin afterward. After 2 days on Plavix, I became extremely nauseous. I would become nauseous each time I took it at bedtime and often this would continue the following morning. Within two weeks, I had joint paint, nausea, fatigue, nosebleeds, bruising, and petechial rash. I took 165mg 80% silymarin for 14 days and this helped. 5 days after stopping silymarin, my symptoms returned in full.
Avatar m tn m guessing that you have significant bruising from both the aspirin and plavix therapy. I had commercial salmon trollers for fifteen years not too far from you, and believe you have to have had a lot of bruising caused by the type of work you do. I remember well being beat up by the wave action and the hard physical labor, I'd certainly talk to the doc about that, your arms and fingers have to be taking quite a beating.
Avatar m tn I have Chiari Type I, have talked to my neurosurgeon who has told me nothing surgically can be done with my malformation since I already had the surgery once and it is still in place. All my test come back normal etc. I know the symptoms can return but is random bruising a symptom or could it be something else?
Avatar f tn There are no documented evidence that plavix causes stomach bloating. Plavix is a medication that helps prevent clot formation, and there is increased risk for excessive bleeding.
Avatar n tn I had a history of stents, CAD, and heart attacks, but after a long absence from symptoms I let my Cardiologist know I was sick of the bruising and wanted to go off Plavix. Shortly afterwards, I developed shortness of breath, angina, etc., and soon developed problems which led to bypass surgery ten days ago. Be careful. I'm back on Plavix. Once again, I've been hoisted on my own Pilchard. To my many friends on this board, thanks for the many comments of support.
Avatar f tn m sure the bruising is because I am on Plavix, I am just unsure why I would have started having hives again with the most recent changes in meds being metoprolol and plavix.
329994 tn?1301663248 Hello, I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and what it could be. I will show my doctor but don't have a visit for awhile. I have these little spots of bruising on my upper leg. I am home recovering from surgery and have not bumped into anything, it's not that kind of bruising anyway. It just appeared -little spots scattered around. I am going to post it on my pictures next and maybe someone will have seen something like it.
Avatar n tn Prior to that I had virtually no symptoms, and no risk factors except for stress, and the cause of the heart attack was a mystery to everyone. I stayed on plavix for 6 months (along with low-dose aspirin which I continue to take) and couldn't stand the side effect of severe bruising. My recovery was slow in that I continued to experience lots of chest pain with stress, and was eventually diagnosed with GERD, which I believe was caused either by the stents or the plavix.
Avatar f tn I don't know about "normal," but if the regimen of warfarin and Plavix is working for you, then great. Your goal is to find something that works. Have you been tested for clotting disorders? Your story makes me wonder about that, especially if the stroke happened to be due to a clot.
Avatar f tn Easy bruising; minor bleeding.
Avatar n tn The blood in your mouth is most likely because of the Plavix along with the bruising. It is the side effects. The circulation is from your heart medication and heart medication makes you tired. You need the heart medication and Plavix and it would be risking to stop the Plavix. Lipitor is good for studies have shown that it has helped reduce cholesterol buildup in the arteries.
Avatar n tn I hope I can shed some light on this for you from my personal experience, it was a concern of mine as well. I'm also 67 years old but try to stay young physically and mentally. When I started getting blockages, they came regular intervals over a three year period, and have eight of them, along with several heart attacks. As a result, I took Plavix for four years, along with 81mg of aspirin.
Avatar n tn He has taken Plavix for two years with no significant bruising. All of a suddent his left arm is spontaneously bruising, a new one pretty much every day. They are the size of the top of a can to a silver dollar. Much of the rest of his arm is darkened, with the look of a minor bruise. Is this normal or the sign of arteries or veins thinning or weakening? This is a tough disease to anticipate. thanks for any info.
482517 tn?1208551378 After a DES in my Circumflex, how long is it neccessary to take plavix? Will aspirin do the trick as well? Dr says we can stop it "...if I want to take my chances..." (not a good answer) What's the longest anyone's taken (taking) it w/no probs? Lastly, if I have restenosis, or a throw a clot in my Circumflex, would it be over or is that a "secondary" area?
Avatar f tn I am a 67 year old female. I am on Plavix (for subclavian stent) and Eliquis (for AFib). I was visiting my son and grandchildren when their half pit bull jumped up on me and took me by surprise. She knocked me down and I fell on my left side terribly bruising my hip (has moderate pain) and bruising my calf and my ankle. My whole calf and ankle are swollen. I have never been in really bad pain but the calf hurts worse than the hip.
Avatar f tn Is his doctor aware of the history of a bleeding ulcer that your post mentions? Has the ulcer completely healed? I certainly would make sure the doctor is aware of this. I know in my case, when taking the Plavix I couldn't drink. I love to drink wine and while on the Plavix one glass would go straight to my head. I felt drunk. And, yes,the bruising is terrible. I walk around with purple marks on my arms all the time.
Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/plavix-side-effects.html Natural alternative: Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic (anti-clotting) enzyme extracted and highly purified from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. Nattokinase enhances our body’s natural ability to fight blood clots, and has an advantage over blood thinners because it has a prolonged effect without side effects.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Plavix 75 MG daily. A recent plavix test showed it was not helping. Now my PA has me on 150 MG Plavix. I really bleed when scratched now. Should I take the Plavix test again to see if the increased dossage is working? I am also taking 325 mg asprin.
Avatar m tn His medication is Diovan 40mg changed from Zestril 10mg due to non stop cough, Plavix and b.aspririn, zocor and lepressor 25mg per day. I would appreciacte for your advice re whats the next step. I could not find his doctor today as its a govt hospital. My dad is very sure its the medication thats giving him side effects.
Avatar n tn Are you taking any anti-coagulant (commonly known as blood thinner) medication, such as aspirin, warfarin, heparin, plavix, or flaxseed oil? Have you had your cortisol level checked lately (as easy bruising can be a part of Cushing's disease)? Are you taking medicine for your vascular spasms?
Avatar f tn If you take anticoagulants or medication that increase bruising (asprin, steroids, ticlid, plavix, NASAIDS, coumadin) that can cause the problem. See an Eye MD for a proper diagnsois.
