Avatar m tn Patients on these medications can have a subdural hematoma with a minor injury and it is abnormal localized collection of blood in which the blood is usually clotted or partially clotted.. The treatment of a hematoma depends on its location and size. Treatment can involve draining the accumulated blood.
Avatar n tn Hello, my father's radiology test predicted subdural hematoma but his INR ratio is about 1.2, which is lesser for a person on a blood thinner. What is causing this hematoma? Is it not expected only for the people with high INR (>3)? Can low INR cause subdural hematoma or it is something else? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Acute left front extra axial hematoma, likely Subdural, versus combination of Subdural and epidural hematoma. No significant mass effect or midline shift at this moment.
5550900 tn?1369728085 Could it be a subdural hematoma as I read that you can get a subdural hematoma from a LP and it presents the same symptoms as a post spinal headache. It scares me because I read that in a subdural hematoma the mortality rate is 80%! If anyone can help me that would be wonderful. THank you.
Avatar n tn In any surgery and that involving bone the average recovery from pain and inflammation would be betweem 3 to 4 weeks. Full recovery to normal life would be 3 months and physiotherapy is very important. With Diabetes and age the recovery would be little longer. Take care!
Avatar f tn ARe these underlying causes preexisting conditions that could cause a subdural hematoma to ultimately become more severe and cause her death? She was sent to have an emergency CT scan when 9 months old b/c our pediatrician believed she may have had hydrocephalous (sp.?) as her head circumference had increased by 1/2inch in 2 months.
Avatar f tn I recently suffered a subdural hematoma to left temporal area after hitting my head post falling from a bike event though I was wearing a helmet. I spent a day an half in the ICU and the released in two days. I am very active, triathlete and Ironman competitor. What is a reasonable time to wait to resurme my normal activities such as running, biking and swiming? I still feel some pressure on the area of my head but no unbearable pain, just a sensation.
Avatar m tn Can anyone relate, should i chill out or panic more, and specifically has anyone ever been told they have a subdural hematoma and questioned the diagnosis or completely recovered without surgery??
Avatar m tn I can understand your worrying concern since fresh subdural hematoma can bleed, if someone is chronic alcoholic or on anticoagulant (aspirin, heparin) therapy. However, the major cause of subdural hematoma is a head injury and as he has recovered well from the condition so bleeding condition is almost nil from hematoma. But it is essential that alcohol in excess should be avoided as it can also delay in recovery of the symptoms of the hematoma, if he still has any.
1582843 tn?1296611294 My question is that I feel far away from everyone emotionally and alone and scared like a three year old. People have to reassure me all the time that I'm smart, doing fine, beautiful, and just nervous.
543118 tn?1240448340 When we got to the ER a different doctor looked at the prior x-rays (taken from the first visit) and said she had a cracked skull and a fractured vertibrea in her neck. After doing a CT they had noticed she had a bleed but never relieved the pressure, she was in a ward for three more days and had to have an emergency surgery on her brain.
Avatar m tn A subdural hematoma (SDH) is a common neurosurgical disorder that often requires surgical intervention. It is a type of intracranial hemorrhage that occurs beneath the dura (essentially, a collection of blood over the surface of the brain) and may be associated with other brain injuries. Acute subdural hematoma Parenchymal brain injury is commonly associated with acute subdural hematoma (SDH) and can lead to increased intracranial pressure (ICP).
Avatar f tn On her incision site a zit like bump appeared and had to be drained and the doctor had no explanation as to why this had occured and it has been about two weeks or longer and the spot has not heal and close up, there is a scab but it still drains pus at times so I wipe around the area with a lttle alcohol.

Avatar m tn As I was typing earlier, my hand suddenly (without my control) snapped shut and jerked and I had a whole range of sensations and I felt very odd--my heart began pumping erractically (not fast, very unrhythmic) and so as it was happening I took a toprol (lowers BP and HR)...I feel very odd; my head feels tingly and likes it on fire on top just over the forehead; my vision is shadowy in some ways and my hands feel weak.
Avatar f tn Hello On April 21st 2010 my 2 boys wrecked their bicycles into each other. My 7 yr old was unresponsive and 1 & 1/2 hour later was in surgery for acute subdural hematoma. Part of his skull was left out to leave room for swelling which was more than the doctors anticipated at 72 hours. Because of this he was put on Mannitol. He was in the PICU for 15 days before going to a step down unit for a few days and then to inpatient rehab.
Avatar n tn Was in a car accident in December had a subdural hematoma.
Avatar f tn Hello, I suggest you to consult your doctor and get a CT scan or MRI scan of the head done to rule out any subdural hematoma. Unlike in epidural hematomas, which are usually caused by tears in arteries, subdural bleeding usually results from tears in veins that cross the subdural space. Symptoms of subdural hemorrhage have a slower onset than those of epidural hemorrhages because the lower pressure veins bleed more slowly than arteries.
Avatar f tn The bleed could be outside the brain and its lining, what is termed and epidural hematoma, underneath the lining of the brain (a subdural hematoma) or within the brain itself, what is termed a contusion. With particularly subdural hematoma, because it is a bleed that occurs from vein tearing, the headache and other symptoms may follow several days after the trauma rather than occurring immediately.
Avatar f tn Hi there. A spinal subdural or epidural hematoma is an accumulation of blood in the subdural or epidural space that can mechanically compress the spinal cord. This usually results from back trauma, anticoagulant or thrombolytic therapy, or in patients with bleeding diatheses, lumbar punchure or post spinal surgery. Symptoms include local or radicular back pain and percussion tenderness, often severe.
Avatar n tn I had an acute subdural hematoma almost 2 years ago now. I was rushed to the hospital quick enough to where I got the craniotomy done fast enough and no damage was done to my brain. Will I be able to do contact sports like boxing or muay thai? I really want to but this always worries me.
Avatar f tn My grandfather was recently emitted in the hospital for a hip surgery and soon after we discovered he has a subdural hematoma. Can you provide any information/updates on your mother? I would really appreciate it.
