old mom had been on plavix for about 2 months when she began having severe diahreea, nausea and loss of appetite. Is it possible for this to be a side effect of plavix even though she has been on the med for 2 months with no problem? She often has difficulty tolerating medications. She was diagnosed with a bacterial infection but after 2 rounds of antibiotic the symptoms return after abouit 2-3 days of feeling better. .
How long must one be on Plavix to keep coated stents open? I need knee surgery badly and need to be off Plavix for 5 days prior to surgery. Cardiologist has vetoed all surgery. I have 3 stents and with 2 of the stents, I have been on Plavix for 15 months and the last stent..on Plavix for 9 months. What is Cleveland Clinics thoughts on this? Question #3. Could it be that she is 1 in 7 who experience nausea from the Plavix or Plavix with another combination of her medications? Would an EDG be helpful? (not one of her doctors want to order this for some reason). She has had a reinfection of the replaced hip 2 times since Oct 04 and recently was back on the Vanco 2 x day for 6 weeks. Could the Vanco have caused a stomach ulcer? We live in a small town with not many medical resources and my grandmother has become a little "gun shy".
He has been suffering from severe stomach pains and nausea on a daily basis. He use to drink and smoke in the past, but has stopped. He eats normally, unless he's in pain. Any advice or assistance will be appreciated. Thanks!! I am feeling so frustrated because I can't seem to get the proper help for him, since he is in pain every single day.

Your question was actually about nausea. Many people with autonomic dysfunction have GI problems and or nausea. I have found an NIH article about nausea and a possible solution. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1675849 As for the small strokes. I noted last fall I was having more trouble with multi-processing and thought it was from natural aging but now I wonder if that is when I had the strokes.
but lately something came up that shocked me, i don't know how long they have been there for, but my throat had been hurting for about 2 weeks and i looked in my mouth and saw white lesions and ulcers in my mouth. The first thing i did was go to the doctor, because i do have a boyfriend and you never know right? The doctor told me it was herpes, and did a swab of the infected area.

Hospital ran lipid panel showing LDL 68, Triglycerides 400, HDL 28, nuclear treadmill stress test that achieved hr of 150, BP held at 140/75 and revealed an ejection fraction of 67, small thrombosis below right artery, bigeminal and trigeminal PVCs and occasional PACs during recovery, none occurred during the test itself. Cardiac cath performed the next day revealed a re-narrowing of right artery. Above the narrowed section, a tear was discovered (presumed site of plaque rupture).
was recently diagnosed w/ small liver hemangioma and am wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to be on aspirin and effient (like plavix) due to coronary stent or does this pose a risk of hemangioma bleeding?
I THINK one of those affects stomach acid.........do you know if that is true? Tums and Rolaids and OTC's do nothing to help. Is there anything you've found in the "natural" category to help? My second question concerns how I feel the day after I've had a bad episode. While it is nothing like the actual "attack," I still have that lousy feeling in my chest and throat and just don't feel real great. I feel hungry, but find I'm a bit afraid to eat.
I do not have a right to left shunt, but because she says some of the places on my MRI scan indicate a TIA she wants me to take 75mg a day of Plavix to prevent further clottine and emboli from crossing, and she has prescribed 500mg a day of Depakote. She feels if we get rid of the migraines the numness and tingling on my left side will go away. She feels ome of it is from the PFO and some from complicated migaines.
my sister has been a type 1 diabetic since she was 7 years old; she has the insulin pump. she was admitted to the hospital 12 days ago because of extremely high liver enzymes, she is also extremely swollen & had been experiencing nausea and vomitting for about 4 weeks. They have run all kinds of tests, ct scan, hidia scan, ekg, ultra-sound, etc. and so far have not come up with a diagnosis.
Got sick, virus like (fever, lightheaded, nausea for a few weeks) and went back to Cardiologist who lowered my Toprol to 25 mg 1 x per day. Lightheadedness went away but nausea and heartburn remains. Now after 2 miles I get chest tightness and feel like throwing up and get really acidy. Walking home really bugs me but I don't want to deal with my heart again.
I would become nauseous each time I took it at bedtime and often this would continue the following morning. Within two weeks, I had joint paint, nausea, fatigue, nosebleeds, bruising, and petechial rash. I took 165mg 80% silymarin for 14 days and this helped. 5 days after stopping silymarin, my symptoms returned in full. I then had a midnight attack of acute RUQ pain with nausea/vomiting that landed me in the ER.
There are no documented evidence that plavix causes stomach bloating. Plavix is a medication that helps prevent clot formation, and there is increased risk for excessive bleeding.
I am in the catagorey of those who can not adequately metabolize Plavix, so I have been placed on Effient. The side effects are ALL negative and include loss of appetite, nausea and profound heartburn. Is anyone else on this med and how are you doing?
after seeing myself on this site and Brigham and Women's site. Come to think about it you may be right. My dizziness and nausea and feeling like *&%^%$&^98 may all be nerves. Time heals all. I do not want to see the doctors again for a longggg longgg time. They did have me scheduled for a Cardiac MRI before I left the hospital but I felt tooo lousy to get it. I get this on Thursday if I can drive. God Bless.
Most of them are caused by the bacterium H. Pylori and some are worsened by drugs such as aspirin, Plavix (clopidogrel), ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs. They can affect the esophagus, stomach, duodenum or meckel’s diverticulum and cause abdominal pain, bloating, fullness, nausea, heartburns, acidity and vomitings. It can cause perforation, bleeding into the abdomen and swelling due to ulcers causes narrowing in the duodenum and gastric outlet obstruction.
Problems started about a year ago this month. Complaints were nausea, constipation, dizziness, and abdominal pains. Dr. thought it to be his gallbladder, but in the process of finding that they also found a blocked artery in his heart which a stent was placed. He was put on plavix and asprin. The heart dr. told him he needed to be on the meds for at least 9 months before he could come off of them to have the gallbladder surgery. His Gallbladder was taken out back in Oct.
I frequently am fatigued with a headache and nausea also sometimes. Now and then I'll be sitting or standing and my head will feel like it's being filled with pressure, but a friend owned a blood pressure cuff and checked it at that moment and it was fine. I suffer from anxiety, but I have always wondered, what came FIRST the physical symptoms or the anxiety ABOUT the symptoms. Getting up and moving around always helps me. I really think I'll check into the chiropractor.
My father is 75 years old, and lately has been suffering from loss of equelibrium, slurred speech, and nausea. He has diabetis and high blood pressure. Had a heart attack about 30 years ago. He is slightly over weight. He has been spending much of the last 6 months in his bed, some of it is from depression, he is also legally blind. He is taking Plavix and asprin together.
My question is, are these sharp pains around the temple normal, and could the plavix be causing be being nauseous and light headed?
Easy for him to say after they missed an old heart attack and wondering what more they will miss. I am on Plavix and wonder if it is similar to Coumadin. Good Luck to you.
If you had BP and heart rate issues (or if you get them again), there are tests they can do for autonomic dysfunction-tilt table test, specifically, as well as testing to see if you sweat normally (QSART/sudomotor testing), and if you have stomach issues (nausea, pain and bloating after meals) they can test for gastroparesis, although you mentioned abdominal tenderness and not bloating and nausea after meals (which is seen with GP).
doctor says he thinks I have a kidney stone. Gave me pain meds and nausea meds for that. I don't know what happens next? Again thank you for your interests. By the way how are you feeling?
