Plavix and lipitor

Common Questions and Answers about Plavix and lipitor

plavix

Avatar n tn Hi, Yes, there is a possibility to have a heart attack even though you are taking plavix and lipitor. Plavix prevents clot formation, while lipitor reduces plaque formation with in the vessels, but do not completely stop them from occurring. And this inturn depends upon various other factors like smoking, alcohol, life style, physical activity, long standing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes etc. Best.
Avatar n tn You need the heart medication and Plavix and it would be risking to stop the Plavix. Lipitor is good for studies have shown that it has helped reduce cholesterol buildup in the arteries. The studies showed that 40mg was just as good as 80mg and that 80mg did not help reduce the cholesterol buildup any more than the 40mg. One question I have, is the nitro patch. Are you having chest pains? Nitro is not good for your liver.
1274110 tn?1270788561 I have taken Ranexa for about a year, and along with some of the medications you take. These include Lipitor, Coreg, Lasix, Plavix, 81 mg aspirin, Protonix. I still take Imdur as well. I have had no increase in GERD or heartburn. Given the large cocktail of drugs, have you given thought to requesting your pharmacy to key out the possible drug interactions? I found Ranexa really helps control my angina.

Avatar m tn If you do not want to suffer a heart attack or stroke, you need to take the Plavix and aspirin. Lipitor is a cholesterol medication that have proven studies showing reducing cholesterol and reducing some cholesterol buildup already there. The medications are your life line and you need to take them as prescribed by your doctor. Are you having current side effects from the medications?
Avatar n tn She is asymptomatic. She wants to go off plavix to have torn meniscus repair and gyn sugery for stress incontinence. Docs been saying "no" for last six months. My dad pressed them to due repeat stress test to see if she is" OK" , because he wants her to get knee done.{She's in pain}. Stress test was good. Wouldn't a CRP/hs-CRP give us a look at where she really stands?

Supplements are 100 mg co-q10 bid, 2500 fish oil bid, HDL RX 2 tabs BID, vitamin E 400mg daily, My question is why does it seem my ejection fraction is getting worse since heart attack on 8/7/2010? Avatar n tn I think it would be wise for your husband to see the cardiologist and explain the symptoms. Heart discomforts can be in the back or in the front of the chest, so I would take the safe option and have him checked out. How is his blood pressure? If they run tests and find nothing, ask for a 24hr or 48hr holter monitor. It's always the way when you go to hospital, nothing happens so nothing is detected.
161427 tn?1229911282 ) the smaller strokes, She is on Lipitor and Plavix, and due to a mixup at the pharmacy she was off her Plavix for almost a week and the improvents were dramatic!!

Avatar m tn I think I have Unstable Angina, my doctor has put me on Lipitor, Plavix, Asprin, Monodur and has doubled my dose of Atenolol to 100mg, what I would like to know is with this treatment can Unstable Angina become Non Unstable Angina?, it would be nice to know if the blood thinning drugs have desolved the blood clot that is part of Unstable Angina. David.
Avatar n tn A healing leg (just out of cast) prohibits stress testing and the dr said he wouldn’t get the results he wanted anyway. I take aspirin 325, plavix, 80mg lipitor, protonix (just to protect stomach), 10mg zetia, capoten 25mg 3x, imdur 60mg 2x. I did have high blood pressure (150+/80+ p90) but am now unexplainably low 80/60 p 60 while on same meds. My question is – what do I do now?. Could these new stents possibly be failing?
315318 tn?1353251800 I cannot discover which of the mediations I take - Lipitor, Coreg, Levo, plavix, etc cause general malaise and hot fevers at night. I though of stopping them one by one to find out but that may be imprudent. Have you any clearer experience then this with your Levo please ?
Avatar f tn I had a triple bypass in April 05, and like you I have part of my leg in my chest now. I can't really say how long they will last, but I'm not doing to bad. My EF has improved quite a bit and I would probably be doing even better if I exercised (as everyone around me recommends). Prior to my surgery, my 'bad' cholesterol number was 169. I'm not sure what the rest of the numbers were. I started on Litptor but it made me itch - not too good with the blood thinners...
