I've followed this research, and from what I've learned the drug interaction of Plavix and PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) is not not that strong. I doubted the report from the start as I took Plavix and PPI's and my blood was as thin as tea, I bruised very, very easily, and the blood tests to determine my clotting factor wasn't changed by taking the two drugs.

I have heard that there is some problem mixing vitamin K with a blood thinner. I am taking 75 mg of plavix and cannot find anything about the vitamin K interaction. I need additional calcium, and the brand I am looking at taking would give me 40mcg of vitamin K. Is this safe or a problem? Where can I find how much vitamin K is in a serving of broccoli or spinich?

Hopefully, the patient is getting all their medications filled at the same pharmacy and they do cross index medications that a patient is taking. They have a record of all prescriptions filled by them for the patient. Doctors do make mistakes and it's the pharmacist job to catch it, they are more knowledgable when it comes to drug interactions! As for supplements, yes....

t take plavix in the morning and in the evening take lopressor 50mg and lipitor 80mg. I had been at least 4 hours since i took these two medication lopressor and lipitor. Is it ok to take zantac 150mg for heart burn .

I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.

Even if there is no direct interaction between Plavix and Vitamin K, is it known whether vitamin K will still act to promote clotting in the presence of Plavix?

is it typical for doctor to prescribe 75 mg plavix and 325 mg aspirin? and then to add 800 mg ibuprofen 3/day for pain management?

Proper subgroup analyses from randomized trials, including CREDO, TRITON, PRINCIPLE, and preliminarily from PLATO and CURRENT, all indicate that no interaction exists... And then a preliminary analysis of data from the COGENT trial, a trial dedicated to specifically examining clopidogrel with a PPI vs placebo, fails to suggest even the slightest signal of a negative interaction. For the FDA to then strengthen the warning of a interaction is baffling, to say the least.

is it okay to use ibuprofen for a child of 5 years (he has got severe headache and very high body temperature) who is on tegretol and keppra medication?

what do you do when you have had stent for three months and are on plavix and have severe pain from back problem. the hear doctor says stay on plavix to protect the stent. the back doctor will not operate on plavix. the result chronic pain and pain pills every four hours and can only recline in chair. what do you do? does anyone know a back doctor in alabama or georgia with experience in these cases.

I may be mistaken but I believe it is the interaction of plavix and aspirin that is the thetherapuetic underpinnings for the dual medication to help prevent clots with DES. Each medication has different mechanisms for treatment of blood clots and alone it has been shown are not as effective as together. Following your logic to separate to avoid the interaction of the drugs is somehow beneficial! would be like taking either aspirin or plavix as the sole treatment?

The label on my bottle says to not take the tenofovir with ibuprofen. However, I previously asked my doctor if ibuprofen (among many other question I had) would be okay to take alongside it occasionally --- and he said it was no problem. Hmmm. What to believe? I must have read that it is not good to take these while on treatment, because of herb and drug interaction and the other factors mentioned. I do NOT know, if they are actually act in favor to or can harm the liver.

I am suffering from depression and anxiety. I recently saw my psychiatrist, and he prescribed Effexor (37.5mg a week until I get to 150mg) to treat these conditions. I have been smoking marijuana regularly (daily) for about 5 years now, and it helps me with my lower back pain that I get from an injury that left me with 4 herniated discs, on top of helping with my depression. Obviously it is not helping enough with the depression to be enough, which is why I went to see my psychiatrist.

I had a "minor" stoke in May 2010. It is now October 2010 my dizziness, balance, double vision and strength have all improve greatly but I still have a dry cough that flares up almost daily. My doctor said it could be allergies and to give it time. I have done that but there has been no real improvement. The only medications I'm taking are a statin for cholesterol and Plavix.
