I know I have to come off Plavix 10 days prior and about 5 days after. Really wondering what damage could be done in 15 days of coming off Plavix if any? All my stents were drug eluding stents.
Avatar n tn 3 days later it closed with a clot and balloon angioplasty was performed on branch and lcx. Pressure intensified after that even though on heparin drip and nitro drip and enzymes went up. 2 Taxus 2 stents placed after that to lcx across the branch closing the branch off. The heparin drip was stopped right before the new stents went in which I thought was weird because weren’t more clots a worry but I came home and have had pressure ever since.

Avatar n tn I have been taking metropolol, verapamil and warafin. I recently changed doctors and today the new doctor suggested I stop the warafin and start taking Plavix. I am 52 y/o female. No hyper-tension, no diabetese, no tia/stroke or any of the factors listed for taking warafin instead of aspirin. The doctor said I was a good candidate for aspirin to prevent clotting but I am allergic to aspirin. Has anyone heard of or personally changed from warafin to plavix?

Avatar n tn Told me to get off the Plavix and she would RX Pradexa which is like coumadin.(never been on coumadin or heparin) I am 74 years old and also take Nexium, Crestor, Avalide 150/12.5, Lopressor, 50,000mg of D3 daily, Synthroid for 3 thyroid nodules and Hashimoto's..(TSH is in the 3-8 range) I take .375 Bayer daily for sinus headaches and advil for knee arthritis. I have a high Parathyroid Level (serum) but normal calcium. Parathyroid adenoma is seen on Nuclear studies.

Avatar m tn My mother who will be 80 next month was often complaining of breathlessness, weakness and pain sometimes in her chest and rib cage. Her daily BP count was never over 140/85 but pulse was high, always between 90 to 105. She is not obese, no diabetes or any serious ailments. Of late her breathlessness was getting worse, with loss of appetite and feeling of weakness. We had several ECG's and an Echo ( doppler) test done and turned out negative.

255163 tn?1376869746 My heart Dr will not let me go off the plavix and my surgeon will not do the surgery while on plavix. What happens in a situation like this?. I am between a rock and a hard place. If neither Dr gives in what do I do? If I have an attack and end up in the ER wouldn't they have to do emergency sugery?. Does this mean that anyone on plavix can never have surgery unless it's an ermergency. What is your opinion on going off plavix temporarily for surgery. I would welcome anyones advice.

Avatar n tn I had angioplasty in 2001 and had a stent implant. My cardiologist prescribed Plavix and 81 mg aspirin daily among the other medications (beta blocker, ACE inhibitor, statin). I have recently moved to a new city and have not found a new cardiologist yet but family physician suggested that Plavix could be discontinued as the guidelines have changed and no long recommended after 12 months post stent implant. Suggestions please?
Avatar n tn The American Dental Association has agreed with the American Heart Association and the AMA, that there are no dental procedures that require the patient to stop Plavix. I read this yesterday, and the article mentioned that much to their dismay, cardiologist were still hearing from their patients that some nutty dentists were still asking them to stop Plavix for a procedure.

In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. Although plavix and aspirin are anti-platelet agents, plavix has a different mechanism of action that seems to be specialized for drug eluding stent to prevent restenosis. Laviquin is an antibiotic medication! and there is a class-action suit against Laviqiin providers that is currently unresolved.

I need additional calcium, and the brand I am looking at taking would give me 40mcg of vitamin K. Is this safe or a problem? Where can I find how much vitamin K is in a serving of broccoli or spinich?
Avatar f tn Went to see my Ob who checked my cervix and discharge and said it was due to the heparin jabs I was taking. he explained due to its anti coagulant properties some women do experience spotting but as long as its not fresh blood it is considered ok to continue with the heparin injections. I am to stop if its fresh blood and go in to see him. Had a scan and baby was fine (thank God).
