Avatar n tn I recently had surgery and was told to stop the plavix for a week before surgery. How soon after surgery should I resume taking the plavix? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I was wondering could there be a connection between anything performed during the surgery and the stroke? Could there be a connection between the local anesthesia and the stroke for example? Also, she has a cataract at her right eye. She hopes that she can undergo a second surgery for this eye. What would you recommend?

Avatar n tn i am not telling you to have cataract extraction surgery. i am only telling you that it may improve your glaucoma and your sight, and that in general the risks are fairly LOW, even for a glaucoma patient.
Avatar f tn I talked to my cardiologist and he said he had talked to the surgeon and for me to come off the plavix for 10 days. Three weeks after stopping plavix for the surgery I was back in the cath lab and had a stint inserted. I do not come off plavix for any reason now. I have 6 stints in my heart and one in my neck. Last week they would not remove my cataract because it was only 3 months since I had 2 stints inserted in my heart. Could not do it until six months had passed. I had open heart in 2004.
Avatar f tn ________, is having had SLK (kerataconjunctivitis) for a long time and having scarring removed from the upper inner lid..be contrindicdicated in having cataract surgery thus by having surgery for cataract removal perhaps now caused the post-op symptoms. I had mentioned to the Lasix surgeon prior to C. removal about the SLK but he did not say hey or ney about it. I am doing my own reseach as I have to get well. Thank You.
Avatar f tn No reply yet. My surgery has been 11 weeks ago and I am no better. It was simple cataract surgery. I did not want any fancy lens...Just give me back what God gave me. I now have large Black Viteous detachmants with lighted Halo's/wavy lines with suspected Retina tear. I was suppose to remain near sighted. I am now farsighted. They cannot do surgery on me as I am a heart patient and on plavix. The stress has caused severe angina attacks.
Avatar n tn Now my Cardiologist tells me that I have to wait another 5 months to do this because I don't dare stop the plavix and aspirin. And that I cannot have any kind of invasive surgery during the 1st 6 months. I just learned this a month after the stent was put in. My main question is this. What all is invasive surgery? I need to have some more small skin cancers removed and also may need to have a cataract removed. Is this safe or not?
Avatar n tn I also had a Vitrectomy in one eye, with a gas bubble. I also developed a cataract and recently had it removed and an IOL implanted. So far so good.
Avatar f tn surgery and Lasik? And why would I get cataract's if I had Lasik surgery? I really don't even know what they do and what cat. are. I so badly want this surgery but I also am leary when it comes to my vision. I have enough problems without creating one.
315318 tn?1353255400 We do not stop blood thinners for cataract surgery since we do it with topical and intracameral anesthesia and make the incision through the clear cornea which does not have blood vessels. Avatar f tn I have lupus and have a heart condition where I take plavix and prednisone along with other meds. Am I a candidate for this procedure? I would love to throw away the glasses! I need them for distance and for reading. If so do you know of any good docs in the ATL area?
Avatar f tn Hi. FOr ages I have been complaining about dizziness and a pins and needles feeling in my left cheek. (by ages, since 2003) I have been sent for ultrasound of coratid artery (no problems) and and MRI/MRA (no problems) but the symptoms are not only stil there, they are getting worse, considerably. I have noticed that this summer, with humidity real high, they are horrible!
