1222076 tn?1423027749 My GI doctor and other doctors just basically keep giving me different types of acid reducers but their all about the same to me and they don't always help. I'm able to eat now and I have gained a lot of weight since 2011 (which now I would like to lose some weight) but now my main problem is acid buildup which causes a burning sensation and I will get nasous from it until I eat something if I don't eat I will feel real sick from it.

1210142 tn?1266077031 When I had esophagitis a short while back, it was explained to me by my Doctor that it isn't always a curable thing. Medication can often be for life to alleviate the symptoms. The trouble (she explained) is that there's a sphincter, ring of muscle at the junction of the stomach and esophagus. It's to prevent acid coming back up and the esophagus has no protection against stomach acid, it becomes very inflamed.
Avatar n tn Buy you a bottle of acid reducers they last 24 hours and seem to help me a lot I sometimes have to take tums also but at least its gone for the most part. And there safe while pregnant!
5251716 tn?1365719074 Acid reflux can actually do alot of damage if ur not taking acid reducers.

976897 tn?1379167602 Data clearly shows taking aspirin/plavix along with acid reflux medication is causing a higher death rate. The cause is unknown as yet. So, I would advise anyone due for angioplasty to discuss with their gp stopping any acid reflux meds currently being taken.
822804 tn?1298226302 You will not absorb the thyroid med properly with an acid pump reducer (PPI) in your stomach at the same time. I had terrible acid refux on a T4 med only. The connection that doctors dont know is many hypo patients have GERD, reflux when their free T3 levels are not higher than T4. Many hypos get reflux because their stomach acid is low, it has the same effect as too much, hard to believe, yes.
Avatar f tn Recently I’ve been experiencing stomach pains and off color bowl movements along with my acid reflux. I take prescription acid reducers, but I have still had these symptoms. It seems to happen mostly when I eat anything with blue food dye. Is it possible I’m developing an allergy to blue food dye as I’m getting older?
Avatar m tn I’m traveling for the next couple week and plan on seeing my doctor when I get back. Valium seems to make me feel better… Acid reducers like Zantac don’t help all that much. The tightness in my throat also seems to get worse when I’m out in cold weather. I know this is an internet diagnosis…. But I’m wondering does this sound like Reflux… Anxiety…. Could this be the start of some condition like COPD… or Asthma?
1274110 tn?1270788561 I came off of Imdur 60 mg twice a day and a nitro patch. It was working but now I get real bad heartburn and my GERD (acid reflux) is back. Has any one had a similar experience? Here is a listing of my meds. Any help appreciated.
Avatar f tn I agree, I have no stomach acid production, and your symptoms are suspiciously like low or no stomach acid induced GERD and if so then PPI and acid reducers would only make things worse. It's now finally becomming clear in journal articles I find online that Dr.
Avatar n tn Sounds like acid reflux. Avoid spicy foods, and maybe some dairy products. Acid reducers would probably help as well.
Avatar f tn Had endoscopy. Huge and acute Doc gave me all kinds of Rx acid reducers but not working. Fatigue is awful. Anyone else. What did you do? How long until better? Ideas?
1222076 tn?1423027749 I can't say that an upper endoscopy would be inappropriate but I think the yield would be low. If you were my patient, I would have you undergo a trial of sucralfate for what may well be alkaline reflux gastritis. This is a fairly common co-traveller with gallbladder dyskinesia and would not be helped by acid reducers. As an aside, you don't get gastritis from too much acid. You get it from a breakdown in the protective barrier.
Avatar n tn Had stint put in my heart march 2016, and was put on low asprin long term and plavix 3 months (june 2016), after I had stint put in. Nov 2016 I woke up and my left eye - my sight was a deep deep dark grey. I knew clot was back, it lasted 45 min...Time I got dressed and went to the emergency doctor, it wasn't there...I've been put on Plavix every since with low doses of baby asprin. I bruise like some one beat the hell out of me.
Avatar f tn The symptoms are similar to an ulcer pain. Acid reducers like OTC Prilosec, Prevacid, Zantac, and others can stop the burning pain. If the pain continues after taking acid reducers, you may have an ulcer and need to consult a doctor.
8367118 tn?1442605420 Me too. Eat at least 3 hours before laying down. Water and fluids make acid reflux worse.
Avatar f tn Son was also put on 2 acid reducers and anti nausea medication plus Maalox. Started on Monday and still no better. How long would it take for these Meds to be working if they were going to?
Avatar n tn I was told there is no real evidence it reacts with clopidogrel (plavix) and if it does, the effect is tiny. My INR didn't change on this medication for 2 years. It would seem Aspirin is the culprit for causing my stomach issues, so I've been taken off aspirin and put back onto plavix for life.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflex really bad with this pregnancy (38wk) and it's getting really painful in my throat.. Any remedies for this?
Avatar m tn I was recently in the ER (4 days ago) with severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with Gastritis. I was treated for the pain given a whole host of acid reducing medication (IV) some Hydrocodone and sent home. I was also given a perscription for an acid reducer and Vicodin. I went to see my Family doctor and he concurred with the diagnosis. I have been on the "acid reducers" for 4 days, I have only taken a few of the Vicodin because frankly I do not like the way I feel on it.
Avatar f tn the last period I had, lasting 3 weeks, was very heavy, loads of blood clots. Because of it, I am now taking iron supplements. Could that hurt the baby? I also am supposed to take stomach acid reducers. I don't take them, but should I? Would they hurt baby, or help? I have high stomach acid problems, but I've learned to control it.
1194973 tn?1385503904 Yes, pregnancy can cause GERD, often it's temporary caused by added pressure on the esophagus and stomach. A hiatal hernia also can cause GERD. As the weight drops it usually improves, but you might need some help with some PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) which cut down on stomach acid. The irritation already caused to the esophagus can cause your added symptoms of nausea. You might try some OTC acid reducers like Prilosec or the generic omeprazole.
Avatar f tn Acid reducers they saved my life they are cheap u can get them from walgreens or cvs and walmart
