Look for plants that can be grown in zones 3 or 4. That means they will be winter hardy for your area. Avatar f tn Who knows why these things happen--maybe we are not supposed to eat tropical fruit if we live in temperate zones. It's a jungle out there!
168348 tn?1379357075 If you live in a warm zone, refrigerate them about six weeks before planting them. You can also plant them in layers in a bowl. This is really neat too. Happy Planting.
1623704 tn?1300452745 Hi all, so glad I found this community... I love my plants, and love to grow things from herbs, to mammoth elephant ears, and black elephant ears. I have five large palms, that I keep in my house during the winter, and a large amount of house plants. lots of perennials in my front and back yard. I keep all the annuals in pots, so I can bring them in for the winter, except the mammoth elephant ears. Those, I pull the bulbs and replant each year out side. I also love herbs, tomatoes.
1056589 tn?1273747102 Our veggie garden is out in the field behind the house and I find myself thinking about planting already. My husband is taking a master gardeners course and that's been exciting. I had been thinking about doing that but then had to laugh..me who has trouble, somedays, remembering where I put my glasses. I think my brain isn't up to it right now. We both have a great love for the earth and for all that it has given us and thinking about next summer's garden is a real joy.
365714 tn?1292199108 I would post a picture if I knew how. Does anyone know anything about Tropical Plants? Please Help.
Avatar f tn and to see a clean garden with no weeds symbolizes sobriety. plus it gives me something to do. and watching the plants grow. nurturing something is rewarding.
Avatar m tn ll have to figure out some sort of deterrent or fencing that keeps them away from my plants. Happy planting all!!
Avatar f tn I do not know if they are related, they are both tropical fruits and lots of folks use them together in making fruit salads as the taste is similar. To be on the safe side, I think I would avoid them and then I would call the local hospital and talk to their nutritionist, maybe then can give you some more insight.
675718 tn?1530033033 t love the digging anymore...spent lots of time bending over while doing the planting, etc....not the best way to do it!!! However....the plants were sure pretty to look at. I spent lots of $ one year going to nurserys for hibiscus plants, poppies (giant ones) and russian sage's,and other things I couldn't pronounce. They are all gone now :-((( I was tempted to let my whole yard be full of flowers....wildflowers! Oh well....I can admire other gardens & the photo's!!!
Avatar f tn The timing does coincide with the yearly weeding, pruning and planting of the flower beds; however the rash started the day before gardening started. If it's dermatitis would a hydrocortisone cream help?
Avatar m tn In the natural medicine field the advice is to eat a moderate amount of fruit unless you live in a tropical climate because of the high sugar content and a large amount of vegetables. But the fructose you're seeing the really bad publicity about is probably high fructose corn syrup., which has had a lot of publicity lately. I doubt you're eating so much fruit as to cause any problems, so I wouldn't worry about it.
209384 tn?1231168306 t think it necessary to cover up the plants before it frosted. Mm huh! Am still waiting to get the rest of it out, but the bottom half of the garden has been too wet to work in. My goofy husband planted ALL the onions together without seperating any of them. We have green onions, yellow, onions, and red onions all togethered mixed up in one row! Don't know how on earth we're suppose to know which onions to pull now and which to let grow.
Avatar f tn ve killed a number of plants too. If one fails, try another. If you tend to overwater your plants, look for varieties that need water. If you tend to neglect them and they dry out, then look for plants that can take periods of drought. ------ teko, Amen to the invasive morning glory.... Somewhere I have a picture of one trying to grow in the cracks of our driveway. It didn't get bery big, but it did put up a bloom. It's a tough thingy...
365714 tn?1292199108 Nothing wrong with potting some plants.......lots of people talk to plants. They don't respond either though.........so don't get discouraged. luv, Nauty..............

8255052 tn?1399861806 Supposed to be happy times trying to get our new house ready for all the guest for my baby shower and the hubby's diaper party. .but he's acting like a total douche! I've done most of the yard work and take care of our 3 yr old plus cheer and tumbling classes and yes he does work (in the ac) and I know he's tired and thinks I'm crazy cause I put a time on everything (so I make sure it's done) but now he's pissed me off!
163305 tn?1333668571 The herbicide known as 2,4-D has had limited use in corn and soybean farming because it becomes toxic to the plants early in their growth. The new seeds would allow farmers to use the weed killer throughout the plants' lives. Farmers have been eager for a new generation of herbicide-resistant seeds because of the prevalence of weeds that have become immune to Monsanto's Roundup.
649848 tn?1534633700 Hello, I was also offline much of the day. Barb, I'm glad you got the scan done, but wish they had told you faster what it revealed. Hate to be concerned about something like that over a weekend. My colonoscopy lab report was slow in arriving and then the doctor wrote me just a short note. I was directed to ask any questions through my GP and not to him.
Avatar m tn I was just wondering with the current economic conditions who is planting a garden this year? If you are what are you planting and how many will it feed and for how long? If you are not, why not? I would really like to hear from both sides on this one. My family always had a garden when I was growing up and my Mom and Grandmas would can and/or freeze veggies. These would last us almost a year and cut the cost down considerably.
