seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar m tn Seborrheic dermatitis can affect all these areas and possibly is your condition.
Avatar f tn 15 years ago I developed seborrheic dermatitis in my ears and my groin. The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.
1105008 tn?1258069920 Hello i went to the Dermatologist with big red areas under my arms, chest and in my groin. He stated i have severe Seborrheic Dermatitis. Now today i woke up with little red mosquito bite looking things on my arms.
Avatar m tn I would suggest you to get this red rash evaluated from a dermatologist first before using any steroid cream because the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is different from eczema. From the symptoms seborrheic dermatitis is a possibility along with other possibilities of contact dermatitis or dermatitis and need to be ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition. work with your dr if you are having health concerns...its not hiv related. kindly move along...you dont have hiv ! ! !
Avatar f tn But last year at the age of 27, my dermatologist diagnosed me with rosacea (which my father has) and seborrheic dermatitis. When I started researching about both I found that seborrheic dermatitis is associated with HIV. Then, not long after I got ringworm on my face. A year later I now live on a different country and colder climate, I now have eczema. Are my skin conditions related to HIV? I've never had an HIV test.
Avatar n tn I get a red flaky rash on each side of my nose every winter. It's only in the creases, and it doesn't spread. It's flaky, red, and oily. It only slightly itches, not alot. There are no bumps or swelling, and it goes away around February/March. It doesn't seem to be any type of dermatitis or eczema. Anyone know who this is?
Avatar m tn Hi, You are most probably suffering from seborrheic dermatitis. This may require use of both ketoconazole shampoo and cream at the same time or seperately. You should revisit your doctor to clarify this doubt. Hope this helped.. Let us know if you have any other queries.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar n tn I have had seborrheic dermatitis since I was a kid. I saw a doctor when it first showed up around my nose, and HIV has never ever been mentioned. It's just a type of dermatitis, not really that different from dandruff. It's very common. I just wash my hair with head and shoulders brand intensive treatment shampoo and it clears up my face just fine. I don't even need to use it daily, just during outbreaks.
Avatar n tn The exact cause is not known, but it may be caused by a fungus which may be confirmed with skin scrapings from the site and evaluating it under the microscope. This may occur at different areas of the body as well. Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is usually treated with a shampoo that contains salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide. If the shampoo alone doesn't help, prescription medication may be indicated.
Avatar m tn And it may be a bit of an odd question. But I have recently been diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis and have been getting alot of anxiety as it is HIV related. If anyone can please comment if Seborrheic Dermatitis is a common skin disease or if it is predominately related to HIV? I just had a few questions to see if my possible exposures could be related to HIV? Possible exposure 1: Protected sex with 10+ women? (Just wanted to ask what the chances are of getting HIV?

1681617 tn?1318542661 Hello, This spot can be due to dry skin, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Seborrheic dermatitis is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity. To confirm the diagnosis, get it examined from a dermatologist.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar f tn m pretty much a THOUSAND percent sure that it is not Seborrheic dermatitis! I have seen that answer everywhere on posts like this. I have googled the pictures, looked up the symptoms and signs, and it is NOT SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS. Please help me!
Avatar n tn Therefore, seborrheic dermatitis probably never is the only manifestation of HIV disease. If yours were due to HIV, you would be losing weight, having fever, and probably would have had one or more life-threatening infections by now. Every new medical condition "pops up suddenly"; diagnosis of something new says nothing about the cause. That you had a new sexual partnership a few years ago is equally immaterial.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms and pictures it looks like perioral dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis on the forehead. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated. Diagnosis has to be confirmed first.
