dandruff

He now is losing his hair and getting white dandruff-like powder all over his skin. Do you have any idea what this might be and if I can treat it?
You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
I was forever finding clumps of hair in the shower, in bed, in the car, on my clothes etc. Its been five weeks since my last shot, and my hair is starting to grow back in. The top of my head is getting a nice spattering of one inch long hair spikes which stick straight out. I'm still waiting to find out if the new hair grows back in in its original colour. Fingers crossed.
I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
The rate at which this is happening is very rapid---literally, weekly, I can see the difference in hair volume when I look in the mirror and take a pictures. For a while, I've been losing a lot of hair, it's been visibly thinning, and getting dryer. At the same time, my skin has been prone to a lot of breakout---in the beginning, just oily, then getting pimply, and now still pimply but with dull, rough texture---I feel like I literally look sick.
Upon my research, I have learned that dandruff, excess oil in the hair follicles and chemicals from shampoos are one of the factors of hair loss. It makes the hair follicles weak that it don't have enough strength to hold the hair. I found this treatment centre in singapore that have hair detox treatment that cleanse the scalp to promote natural hair growth. I was so happy that I was able to solve my hair loss problem and right now I am growing more hair naturally.
After being bitten by some type of insect in my sleep, (five and a half years ago), my hair changed from baby-fine, soft and wavy to the consistency of wire or even pubic hair. I also find little white hair-like things in my hair that are barbed on one end and tapered at the other. When I first got bit I also started finding what looked like "balls of white lint" in my hair. In the middle however some of the hairs were black or red. My hair also comes out so easily.
I dont have any fungus / worms kind of things on my scalp but yes i do have dandruff and in winter its a lot of dandruff ..
Hello, Causes of hair fall could be like nutrients and proteins deficiency in the hair cells, emotional or physical stress, hormonal imbalances, dandruff, and serious illness like a tumors, infectious disease and Alopecia areata.. If there is underlying disease or nutritional deficiency .Give your diet an overhaul if you're lacking vital nutrients for growth and switch to foods for healthy hair. If it's related to an illness, it can be reversed by effectively treating the underlying cause.
Hello & welcome......Usually a skin problem on the rear area is classic of fleas.....If you don't use a flea product (From your Vet), then you need to start there.....Do not buy one from a discount center or grocery store....Make sure you use a good one from your Vet... Then I looked at your pictures: First, your dog looks malnourished.....You need to get him on a high quality dog food! Again, do not buy one from a discount center or grocery store...They are not good enough...
Doctors are quick to tell me its genetic because of where my hair is thinnest (front bang area), and because hair loss does run in my family. However, even though I've always had massive amounts of thick hair, it's always been much thinner in the bang area. My hair loss is diffuse, and it's most noticeable there only because it's always been on the thinner side in that area, and that's why it's the most obvious.
HI, herpes outbreaks are not on both sides but only one. Of course only testing would confirm as one side might in fact be herpes but if all the sores look the same, they may just be inflamed hair follicles. If your concerned have them swabbed with in 48 hours after appearing to confirm.
My main concern with my disorders is currently the amount of dandruff / flaking I have on my scalp and on my eyebrows. The buildup on my eyebrows is so thick that the scales attach to the hair follicles and make them fall out constantly. I went to a dermatologist and she prescribed Desonide cream to apply to the eyebrows for five days. I'm currently on my second day of using that. She also prescribed LoProx shampoo and Olux-E foam for my hair.
This doesn't look like herpes at all. If you've had a few sexual partners and not known much about their STD status then perhaps consider an STD panel explicitly asking for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV1 and HSV2.
Hi Try sulfur 8 medicated original formula, anti-dandruff hair and scalp conditioner, if they are only in area of the picture or on your scalp. I had a similar problem, plus I would see blood spots on my pillow cases and towels, or wherever I laid my head on. It started out just as you stated, and over time it got worst. I dislike taking drugs because of the many side affects.
so I've had this problem for maybe 9 years now were suddenly I had this dandruff problem and it just came out of nowhere. I know Psoriasis runs in my family but it's always on the arms and legs. mine is on my scalp my eyebrows and just above my mouth on the right in a small patch. My aunt who went to beautician school informed me it was Psoriasis but it doesn't look the same in pictures I've seen. my scalp isn't raised up or swollen looking neither is my eyebrows or the other spot.
Hi there, I'll start this off by saying that partially due to being half hispanic, I've been blessed for most of my life with a thick, healthy head of hair. Hair loss is something I honestly never thought I would have to worry about, but in a matter of months (weeks even) the tables have completely turned on me. It was about a year ago that I pulled my hair back and noticed that the corners had receded VERY slightly in the front.
So I've been having this yellow tube-like things sticking to strands of my hair. My hair is pretty long and very very thick. I think it's head lice, but I NEVER feel the little lice crawling in there, my mom checks my hair on a daily basis very frequently and she sees nothing. I do have dandruff every once in a while though. I admit they do look like head lice nits, but I'm not sure. I think it may be head lice and I'm getting some treatment shampoo tomorrow and trying it.
me 2 im a black male 20 of age.all my life I have had long hair in a pony tail .I recently buzed my hair n my scalp was all lumpy like my brain was showing. how can I restore the roundness of my scalp????????!!!!!!
It is worth considering the possibility of pityrosporum folliculitis. Do you have dandruff? That would be a clue. Bottom line - you will need to see a derm and get a biopsy or a scraping done so that this can be treated. It may cost money but it will make you feel so much better.
i have tried t-gel,head and shoulders, scalpacin and taking benadryl.i do have a little bit of dandruff and the tops of my ears itch.i looked at the pictures for seborrheic dermatitis and my head does not look like that i have a few scabs and the rash on my neck that just came on there this past week.i DO NOT HAVE HEAD LICE she doesn't know what she is talking about.
My hair has also started to fall out and at the end of my hair, a white little grain is at the end. Hair will not stop falling out. I have gotten blood tests at a dermatology office and everything was normal. I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations. Also I have tried, salycylic shampoos, tar shampoos, jojoba oil, AND nothing seems to help. Please help me and my hair.
it wasnt even a quarter as bad as the ppl in the pictures i saw BUT the pic was the side of my head with the top layer of hair lifted up and u could see my smooth, thick, shiny hair and then there was a part of my scalp that had no hair on it, a little bit more than half the size of my pinkie finger-it was covered in red scabs and stuff and it looked really scary. i want to stop really badly, but its so tempting. HELP!!!!!!
I recently decided to try to grow the hair out again, and tonight had to shave because of the persistent itching. I am currently without medical insurance, and am looking to get a preliminary idea of what I am dealing with. Please see the attached photos... http://picasaweb.google.com/embus2/UntitledAlbum?

one time my brother in law put a type hair oil in my nephews hair.
If I just leave it alone most of the skin appears smooth, but in the crease on the side of my nose dead skin flakes off. Peeling rarely happens anywhere else. It use to be just on the side, and end of my nose. Now it has spread to my cheeks below my eyes, and down around the sides of my mouth and my upper lips. I had a hunch it was seborrhea but in pictures I see of that they never look as prominent, or as red.
And when it was at its worst stage, like an open sore kind of, i didnt notice a hair in it but didnt really look, i only noticed it after it started to dry out and heal then it got really dry and flaky especially if i scratched it, it practically came off like dandruff (gross i know). And there is only one bump thats what makes me skeptical about it being herpes as there is usually more than one bump..
The only other thing I can think of that might be related--I have to keep my hair very short because I develop extremely bad scalp dandruff no matter how much I wash my hair with any kind of shampoo/soap/magic voodoo water lol. I use hand lotion on a regular basis and it seems to help some but not much. Several doctors have looked at it and had no idea what it was, I've looked online quite a bit and have yet to be able to find any thing that really matches up with my characteristics.
You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
