Common Questions and Answers about Physical rehab works

82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar f tn I have tried it all. Cant afford rehab or suboxens. I guess eventually it will end my life. Dont know wny but my mind just doesnt get it. sorry folks. Been at this for 2 years.
Avatar n tn I have been addicted to pain killers for 6+ years. I've decided that enough is enough & I can't continue to live like this anymore. I am 3 days clean & currently going through withdrawls. I can not afford rehab, or have anyone to care for my children if I could afford to go. I don't know if wanting to quit & change my life is enough for me to kick this. My husband knows about my addiction, I went to him for help. He doesn't understand why I can't just stop.
1318483 tn?1318347182 Coming to rehab was the best thing that could have happened to me. I truly am thankful for crossing paths with my new pump nurse and grateful for her swiftness in getting me in here. I have physical, occupational and speech therapy every day. This makes for a long day but very much worth it. I see improvement every single day. This hospital has the most caring, compassionate and outgoing staff I have ever seen in my life. You cannot help being optimistic here.

Avatar m tn This is a lot of good information and I was looking to go to a place, but my wife doesn't think it actually works. I've been on Norco 10/325 for a year... I shattered my elbow and have had four surgeries. The last surgery on December 22nd has taken the painful implants out and I want off this stuff ASAP. I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but my body is dependent at this point.
Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.

I just dont want to work with a pt who has me doin anything that may hurt me more. Is that possible?!
Avatar f tn I am going crazy i just cant stand to be using anymore but am at a loss as to how i am ever going to do this on my own. I really think i need rehab, detox something of that sort. i live i a small town and dont think we have anything of that sort in our area.
Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
Avatar f tn I'm just wondering now if I should go to a 28 day rehab or if I should just keep trying on my own. I really didn't have bad physical wd's, it's more my brain and the nonstop thinking that I'm having the hardest time with.
Avatar m tn weed is more a mental thing then physical, Once I was in a rehab and during the chemical classes the hesd doc talked about pot and basically said it wasn't addictive. he talked more about the lungs, cronic bronchitis nto much else. he said it was the most harmless of all the drugs someone could use. Then he told us now don't go out and smoke csuse your in a program and while in here it won't fly.
Avatar n tn It's good to hear from you.I'm sorry you weren't able to find an in patient rehab but I'm glad to hear that you are feeling a bit more comfortable.I don't know anything about sub,but just wanted to offer my support.Hang in there, you can do this. All the best...
Avatar m tn I just got out of an opiate rehab treatment 2 weeks ago and now suddenly I feel like I'm going through the same WD effects from when I was at the clinic. I cannot hold any food down, stomach cramps returned along with nausea, diarrhea, and cannot hold down any foods liquids, or even ice chips for the last 3 days now. I haven't slept in 3 days now, and cannot get hydrated and am restless all over my body. Help.
Avatar m tn Also, one day we decided to go back to the hospital to see what their physical therapy was like, so I called the Physical Therapy line directly (not through the main line - don't ever do that they have no idea what the hell they are talking about) and went in for a tour. Unlike the stupid answers the main line gave us, the Physical Therapists set the story straight. The hospital main line gave us this ******** talk like: "Oh you have to apply for a clinic card...
Avatar f tn I am being treated for vertigo (rocking back and fourth feeling sensation) and have just started Vestibular Rehab. How long will this take before I know it is doing the trick? I have had vertigo for 2 years now, on and off the first year and the second year has been everyday. Any ideas? I have had 2 brain MRI's they are normal, I have been seeing and ENT for 2 years and the tests done there have also been close to normal.
Avatar m tn I posted something like this a long time ago, but wanted to again. There are so many advantages to getting off drugs, but one that is not talked about much is the positive changes to our health and appearance. In active use, I looked like death, felt like death and hated what my life had become for those 5 years on coke and other drugs. I just wanted to know if you have noticed any changes to your appearance after quitting?
Avatar f tn Good morning to everyone who's awake on a rainy Saturday. I hope it's lovely where you are, be it Florida, Canada or Australia. (And all points between, natch.) My question is about on-going PT. My own situation is that I've had 6 weeks of it, twice a week, and have shown improvement, in balance especially. My insurance is excellent and not a factor here.
Avatar f tn ve seen the website for the Withdrawal-ease and have read of a couple posts on here of people ordering it, but never heard anything about how it actually works. It does seem to have a lot of the amino acids in the product, I truly hope it works for you. Please keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I am of the opinion that the alcoholism is primarily a symptom of anxiety. So, I readily buy into that part of rehab that addresses the psychiatric and behavioral facets of addiction, but the idea of sitting around in a group sharing is anathema to me. I’d rather have pins shoved in my toes. I guess that’s it. I realize I have a problem. I realize I need help. I also am of the firm conviction that AA or conventional rehab would not be useful. What other options are there?
Avatar f tn rehab works if YOU want it to rehab is good for detoxing but after that its all up to YOU if YOU want it stay clean YOU will but it sounds like you are not ready yet what is your drug of choice meth is a mental addiction whyle moraphine is a physical and you need to come off that with help some times, i cleaned my self off meth it was all my choice and ive been clean 6 1/2 years good luck
Avatar f tn I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant and have to lift and manage all types of patients in rehab. He prescribed me Predisone, but I don't know if I need to have any precautions as far as lift precautions or what. I also don't know whether to go get injections or go to therapy. My co-worker is a PTA and gave me some exercises, but I can bearly move today. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn When and IF you have a surgery on the shoulder make sure you are Vigilant with physical therapy program soon after the surgery, SCAR TISSUE build up after having surgery without rehab can cause more pain and less range of motion than you had before a surgery. I've had better results going to a sports medicine doctors that specialize on the area injured. NEVER ALLOW A DOCTOR TO INSERT A PAIN PUMP CATHETER INTO YOUR SHOULDER JOINT SPACE DURING SURGERY FOR POST OP PAIN RELIEF .
Avatar f tn He is paralyzed on the left side, has vision and swallowing problems, but can speak/communicate well and his mind is very sharp. He was sent to an acute care rehab hospital on 1/5/08. They said that their goal is to offer high intensity therapy and get patients off to a good start. Today. less than two weeks later, I was told that they plan to discharge him on 1/31/08 and that he will need to go to a skilled nursing facility.
