Avatar f tn to physical therapy, through chiropractor and acupuncture treatment...White the pain injections, chiropractor and acupuncture helps and all only helps temporary. I am wondering if bearing the pain and doing exercises to strengthen my neck and shoulders would be a better solutions on helping my pain long term.
Avatar f tn Good morning to everyone who's awake on a rainy Saturday. I hope it's lovely where you are, be it Florida, Canada or Australia. (And all points between, natch.) My question is about on-going PT. My own situation is that I've had 6 weeks of it, twice a week, and have shown improvement, in balance especially. My insurance is excellent and not a factor here.
82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar n tn I have been addicted to pain killers for 6+ years. I've decided that enough is enough & I can't continue to live like this anymore. I am 3 days clean & currently going through withdrawls. I can not afford rehab, or have anyone to care for my children if I could afford to go. I don't know if wanting to quit & change my life is enough for me to kick this. My husband knows about my addiction, I went to him for help. He doesn't understand why I can't just stop.

Avatar f tn I started cardiac rehab recently. I was extremely apprehensive about doing this, especially with it being 3x/week (and scheduled 1.5 hours/session!!), but I have to say it is AWESOME. I'm sure it must vary greatly depending on the facility, but I can honestly say the cardiac rehab department is by far my favorite department in this whole hospital system now.
Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Avatar n tn Before your question regarding the protocol regimen for your condition can be safely advised, a stress test should be given. However, you should have been given a cardiac rehab-discharge summary that would advise limitations and duration as well as medication information. If exercise is not prohibited...usually recommended, years ago it was advised just to rest...aerobic exercise can increase physical tolerance and is generally benefical mentally as well.

Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
1318483 tn?1318347182 Coming to rehab was the best thing that could have happened to me. I truly am thankful for crossing paths with my new pump nurse and grateful for her swiftness in getting me in here. I have physical, occupational and speech therapy every day. This makes for a long day but very much worth it. I see improvement every single day. This hospital has the most caring, compassionate and outgoing staff I have ever seen in my life. You cannot help being optimistic here.
715004 tn?1309077280 A1) Yes, the atlas has the capacity to "stay put," provided it has been properly analyzed and correctly adjusted. Home-care exercises are encouraged to extend the holding time, as well as a reduction in habits that stress the head/neck. A2 & A3) I cannot comment on ultrasound. It's a therapeutic modality used most often by physical therapists and rehab specialists. Many chiropractors use this equipment in the office, but I do not.
Avatar m tn Also, one day we decided to go back to the hospital to see what their physical therapy was like, so I called the Physical Therapy line directly (not through the main line - don't ever do that they have no idea what the hell they are talking about) and went in for a tour. Unlike the stupid answers the main line gave us, the Physical Therapists set the story straight. The hospital main line gave us this ******** talk like: "Oh you have to apply for a clinic card...
Avatar f tn I am being treated for vertigo (rocking back and fourth feeling sensation) and have just started Vestibular Rehab. How long will this take before I know it is doing the trick? I have had vertigo for 2 years now, on and off the first year and the second year has been everyday. Any ideas? I have had 2 brain MRI's they are normal, I have been seeing and ENT for 2 years and the tests done there have also been close to normal.
Avatar m tn When and IF you have a surgery on the shoulder make sure you are Vigilant with physical therapy program soon after the surgery, SCAR TISSUE build up after having surgery without rehab can cause more pain and less range of motion than you had before a surgery. I've had better results going to a sports medicine doctors that specialize on the area injured. NEVER ALLOW A DOCTOR TO INSERT A PAIN PUMP CATHETER INTO YOUR SHOULDER JOINT SPACE DURING SURGERY FOR POST OP PAIN RELIEF .
Avatar f tn He is paralyzed on the left side, has vision and swallowing problems, but can speak/communicate well and his mind is very sharp. He was sent to an acute care rehab hospital on 1/5/08. They said that their goal is to offer high intensity therapy and get patients off to a good start. Today. less than two weeks later, I was told that they plan to discharge him on 1/31/08 and that he will need to go to a skilled nursing facility.
331415 tn?1311459301 t remember how many, but talk about a seriously harsh physical rehab. This guy has been doing drugs for how long? Since he got hurt doing Grease I think? I tell you what, his girlfriend is a total enabler. Did you see on the first show how she gave him all of his drugs, including Jack Daniels to wash it down?
1912634 tn?1322181310 I have a wonderful rehab nurse that I see three times a week has noted my coughing that have been so bad I about feel equipment. I ask her about it she just said to go slow and take your time.. She can't say anything about but when I asked the director of rehab Dr Gonzolas he said you need a Pulmonary specialist. They are treating this as COPD because they have no treatment or diagnoses for H2S because they don't survive exposure. I should and am greatful I have cheated death.
Avatar n tn what is the average length of rehab therapy after total knee replacement? This discussion is related to On-going Pain after Knee replacement surgery.
Avatar n tn I would differ, as whatever you're suffering from isn't something we can know. That fact osteoarthritis showed up on an MRI, for example, doesn't mean that's the reason you're feeling pain. It could be, but it could be muscular or other things as well. And as for exercises for this, I would get referred to physical therapy.
