Common Questions and Answers about Photographic memory test recall

memory

11079760 tn?1483386130 I know we've addressed this in a recent thread, but I just have to share that I just forgot my house address. I've lived here for almost 10 years, and I suddenly couldn't remember my house numbers. I went back & forth between 2 digits - one is right and one is not. Can this just be because I'm highly distracted with other issues (read: STRESSED) right now? I hate that these things are happening more & more frequently.
751951 tn?1406632863 I thought I was a complete idiot when I walked out of the place. The test memory and recall several different ways, i.e. lisitng a bunch of words and then asking you to repeat as many as you can. Then later during the testing, they ask you to repeat as many as you can after they've administered a couple of other tests. Another test is repatinga series of nubers or numbers and letters and categorizing them numerically and alphabetically in mentally before repeating them.
358971 tn?1330888975 Not only is my memory completely gone (i was once able to recall things thanks to photographic recall!!), but now I do and say stupid things all the time. I'm 8w6d and so far, i've forgotten what side of my car the gas tank is on (never done this in 3 years with this vehicle), forgot to blow out a candle before going to store, forgot to turn stove off after dinner, and today, I pulled up in my neighbors driveway!! OMG>..i was SO embarrassed!!!
1260255 tn?1288654564 When I was young I had a near photographic memory and was a walking encyclopaedia of facts (one of those annoying know-it-all geek-teenagers). Then in my late twenty's I started having memory problems. I can literally have a conversation with someone (paying very close attention), leave the room, and forget everything. People at work used to think I was stuck up, because I wouldn't greet them in the hall...
Avatar f tn I'm a bit of a paradox. I'm currently a high school student and I can remember just about anything, even after reading it once in a book. It's not a photographic memory, but still very strong. Despite having a great memory for facts, recently I've noticed that I can't remember life events. I don't remember things I've done. For example, a week after hanging out with friends I will forget what we did. I also don't remember major parts of vacation.
Avatar m tn I have made some recovery in my speech, reflexes, problem solving, eyesight problems, vestibular issues, physical injuries and limitations as well as some hand coordination but I am still having very severe memory retention and recall issues/ concentration problems. Mainly short term although my long term memories are damaged as well, its just kind of difficult to remember what i cant remember lol.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with depression for a long time now but over the last year or so i have been getting really tired all the time, really bad headaches constantly, but what is most worrying is my memory is getting really bad, it used to be brilliant, photographic. But now i can't remember really easy words and if someone interrupts me mid sentance, its gone. What's wrong with me?
Avatar n tn I have always been the type of person that can remember every a professor says. I have a photographic memory and and retain a lot of information I read. For the past couple of months I have been having these sharp pains in my head. They are located in the back of my head on the right side. It is not like a headache, more like a sharp pain that will come and go. Along with the pain, I have also had some memory loss. I can't remember things from last week.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am in the process of having more tests done, but it seems my docs don't even know which direction to LOOK. I am a 35yr old female, w/ history of migraine w/ aura & several episodes of "complicated migraine". 2-3 months ago, I had an episode that they can only assume was a complicated migraine (MRI & EEGs were normal). The severity of the episode improved over 24-48hrs...
Avatar f tn Hi I am a 18 yo girl And my memory used to be semi photographic I would say. Really really strong and vivid. I barely remeber things and I’m usually very confused for no apparent reason. When I read texts I no longer process them and I’ve stuttered last year for the first time in July and it then stoppped for a while (reoccurring every now and then). Now it back along with other symptoms.
Avatar f tn I had major memory issues after surgery 10 years ago. It is now so much better but I worked at it. I read that doing puzzles like crosswords, word search etc help. I did them a lot! I used to have a photographic memory & that is long gone, but it has improved a ton. I used to be driving & had no clue where I was. I could not remember simple words for things. It was scary. Now I can remember most things. I do use a lot of post its tho to make sure I remember appts etc.
Avatar n tn My brother in law said he was like that when he was a child and later on just corrected it himself. He do have a photographic memory. Should I be concerned about my daughter? I see noproblem in her behavior other than this.
Avatar f tn So my memory used to be semi photographic I would say. Really really strong and vivid. I barely remeber things and I’m usually very confused for no apparent reason. When I read texts I no longer process them and I’ve stuttered last year for the first time in July and it then stoppped for a while. Now it back along with other symptoms. I feel like it’s not mental health it’s physical health- what could it be? Also do I need to see a doctor for this?
1823499 tn?1370090289 so it is not all memory, it is short term or recall at the moment...if I am being clear...lol...again I find when stressed it is more difficult to do, or say in a room that is over stimulating, too much noise, and activity going on, in a convo I will find it hard to retrieve the words I want....in a diff setting, I may not have the issue at all.... Ne one else notice this?
Avatar m tn Hi I am 35 year old non drug using male, who also drinks very little. Last year i had a bout of itch hands which was followed by mental confussion and lines appearing wavey rather than stright. Was Hospitalized and had ct and mri done, plus all the usual blood tests. Found nothing after 6 weeks everything went back to normal, except my eyes which have 20/20 vision but i see white noise in the dark ceiling at night.
Avatar m tn d like to ask whether I could make a use of it by calling it up when I need it. Would match perfectly to my photographic memory for my surrounding, meaning that I remember places, streets , etc perfectly even after a decade I've been there.
Avatar f tn Oddly enough, participation in some memory research when I worked at Hopkins, confirmed the above, and oddly enough despite also having iconic(photographic) memory.
1146276 tn?1261470187 Well, on the neurological side of things, I personally think you should visit a neurologist, because he can do some office tests to determine how your recall and short-term memory is doing from a series of questions, and then he can also order a scan of your head to see if the problem originates in in your brain. Now, from a psychological perspective, let me see if I've got this straight. You tell us two different kinds of memory troubles.
Avatar n tn My 9year old son has the bad memory. He can do only one job at a time. If I give him more than one he's not able to do it. He will remember only one job and forgets everything else.Is this common in 9yeal olds? Also, he talks a lot. If he talks he wont pay attention on the jobs.
987762 tn?1671273328 s grown up with a mum that knows where everything is, its sort of like a photographic picture memory and anything at all would pop in my mind by simply mentioning it, i could do this with audio too, if i've heard it i could repeat it word for word. Ummm, its all gone and I do mean gone!
Avatar m tn Or when poeple tell me things, i just forget it after a while. Sometimes when they mension what i forgot they said i can recall them telling me that. But a lot of the time i can't recall them telling me that. Also when i am in conversation, i can hear them clearly but i can't make out what they say, like i forget parts of my language. I also often forget what they said and when i try to recall it, it's like i blacked out or something.
2197322 tn?1338842193 My brain function has recovered to an extent, but my cognitive function has not fully returned to what it was prior to this incident, as I had an almost photographic memory for information and facts. A lot of what I had studied over the past twenty years, as I have numerous qualifications and degrees, just has not returned. And I still find it difficult to memorise and retain information. I have come a long way from not knowing my ABC's anymore, but I'm still not like I was.
Avatar f tn ve had bouts of dizziness, pins and needles all over my body on a daily basis, problems with memory and cognition (used to have a photographic memory), fatigue that seems to taper as the day goes on, weakness in my muscles, especially my thighs. I've had trouble walking up even small flights of stairs. I've developed the worst acne of my life and have not been able to lose weight no matter how healthy I eat and how much I exercise since age 16.
Avatar m tn ve been noticing for the last week changed cognitively. I mean huge changes. When I was a teenager my memory was photographic. It has not returned to that staged but cognitively my mind seems to be returning to my abilities from long ago. I'm remembering how to do things that have been long lost to me. Yet I still seem to have short term memory loss. The cognitive returns though... wow... they are tremendous. They are leaving a very hopeful future ahead of me.
585414 tn?1288941302 I think memory problems can be linked with bipolar disorder and sometimes the meds prescribed for it too can effect memory. My mother who is also bipolar 1 said she got so manic once that she blacked out for a few days. I personally have problems with my short term mostly and some long term memory problems too. The sad part is when I was younger I had a photographic memory. I also have PTSD and you can't forget stuff you would rather. Flash backs are really bad.
Avatar n tn Decided to add a little more info after looking at a few other posts, I am diabetic and have had a few low blood sugars where I have gone into seizures. This has happened maybe 3 times since I have been diagnosed about 10 years ago. I don't recall If I had any memory problems before this happened but I always did well in school until recently my memory seems to have gotten a lot worse.
Avatar f tn i have lost weight as the result of exercise, not topamax. my memory has become rather poor compared to what it used to be. i had a photographic memory, not anymore! also, when i stand, i have trouble keeping my balance which is accompanied by a blackness that spreads from my outer eyes towards the centre. some days i drink plenty of water, other days little to none. i am constantly sleepy and yet i have trouble falling asleep at night.
