I don’t have a full description of your consciousness during the lack of speech episodes to decide whether this start is a partial epilepsy which can continue in a generalized or it is a generalized one from the first moment.. in both cases the treatment in Phenytoin and no known to me (till now a treatment to over count its side effects from gingival hypertrophy to the respiratory problems).
It is distressing to experience so much pain with no headways to the cause coming. I understand that a thrombophlebitis of the arm vein following extravasation of one of the various irritant intravenous drugs given at the time of surgery could be a cause. This could have caused some damage to the ulnar and median nerves I nthe vicinity due to extravasation.
The term could be referring to an active arterial extravasation/ haemorrhage. You might want to check this with your doctor.

You have described a well-known complication known as extravasation of contrast media (iodinated contrast for CT or gadolinium for MRI, the latter in your case), which means some or all of the contrast which was supposed to be injected into your veins leaked out into the surrounding soft tissues. Patients typically experience localized pain, swelling, itching, and/or redness.
In a small study, phenytoin-induced seizures occurred most often in patients with serum phenytoin concentrations of 50 mcg/ml or higher.[393] Peripheral neuropathy, usually occurring weeks to months after drug initiation, has also been reported in patients receiving phenytoin. A single case report describes the onset of neuropathy within a few hours of drug administration.[9780]
Adverse GI effects of phenytoin therapy include nausea/vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, and anorexia.
Folic acid supplementation in folate-deficient patients with epilepsy changes the pharmacokinetics of phenytoin, usually leading to lower serum phenytoin concentrations and possible seizure breakthrough..."
It however says that initiation of Folic acid and phenytoin together is beneficial.
Since you can't go back and start all over again, you can take a small dose. It has been observed that as los as 1mg dose can perturb phenytoin’s levels, You may take doses lower than 1mg/day.
Hemi facial spasm may be seen in tumors, multiple sclerosis, stroke etc. treatment may include balanced diet with mineral supplements like potassium, calcium, magnesium, massages for fatigue, B complex supplementation like avocadoes, bananas, legumes etc. drugs like gabapentin, phenytoin are used for hemifacial spasm. Acute alcohol consumption increases the availability of phenytoin (Dilantin) and the risk of drug-related side effects. Chronic drinking may decrease phenytoin availability, significantly reducing the patient's protection against epileptic seizures, even during a period of abstinence. Any form of alcohol, even beer is contraindicated for some time when you are weaned off dilantin.
Sexual activity is an exertional activity which can cause exertional or sexual headache.
Hello AB, welcome to the medhelp forum. Phenytoin can cause certain side effects like dizziness and mental confusion. Some people may also manifest incoordinate movements. Weight gain is not a documented side effect. It could be related to your alcohol consumption or wrong dietary habits and lack of exercise. An occasional one or two drink may be fine but moderate or large amount can cause significant increases in blood levels of phenytoin due to induction of hepatic enzymes.
Then, I went back on my Lyme Disease and Babesia (co-infection of Lyme) treatment (Chinese herbs), and they are worse than ever! I am hoping that this is just a bacteria die-off, which is common with Lyme, and your symptoms get worse before they get better.

The edema of the ankles commonly occurs in the elderly due to a poor functioning of the heart and hence there’s stasis of the blood around the lower extremities resulting in edema of the feet due to extravasation of the fluids from the blood. Due to the poor functioning of the heart, there’s poor blood supply to the brain also which can result in confusion in the elderly.
Left ventricular systolic dysfunction means left heart failure.

Pigmented purpuric dermatosis is a chronic disease characterized by extravasation of erythrocytes in the skin with marked hemosiderin deposition. Unfortunately there is no cure for this disease except steroid creams which are available by prescription. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist.
I would suggest a dermatologist’s for the same.
During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.
I totally forgot to tell you that he is on Phenytoin 100mg once daily. Can this be continued and taken for a long period of time?

For widespread or stubborn infections, itraconazole tablets have shown good results in curative aspects, but avoid its interaction with other drugs like antacids, astemizole, phenytoin and rifampicin. Most patient think the treatment has not worked if their pale patches do not disappear straight away. Please remember that the patches will take a long time to disappear and the treatment does not equate with disappearance.
I underwent digital and normal xray both digital xray shows details of the problem like in two vcs little problem is shown In normal xray report just mentions mild spondylosis. I require relating to treatment and whether really i have spondylosis or not. What are the exercises for this purpose. What is the treatment in case if it is a real problem. what is the precautions to be taken to avoid any future problems. whether it has connection with heart.
