I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!
5 years my cardiologist suggests me to change to warfarin + asprin theraphy. I am scared of warfarin due to its side effects and risks.

You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc..

I wanted to understand if he has to be cautious while using other drugs and what interaction Acitrom has with other drugs. He has been on Acitrom for a week now and has to use it for life.

Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa.

According to some studies, fish oil supplements may elevate the international normalised ratio (INR) of people taking warfarin. and may provide additional anticoagulamt effect. Fish oil, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, may affect platelet aggregation and/or vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown and further tests may need to be done.

During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. It however says that initiation of Folic acid and phenytoin together is beneficial.
Since you can't go back and start all over again, you can take a small dose. It has been observed that as los as 1mg dose can perturb phenytoin’s levels, You may take doses lower than 1mg/day.
