It was used in a lot of cases of depression that was not responding well to other treatments. Problem is, it DOES tend to come with some nasty side effects, once being exactly what you describe. This med was actually responsible for putting people into manic episodes, which is why it isn't a great choice for treating anxiety disorders, BPD, and the like. Out of curiosity, have you tried other meds? Did your doc explain the thinking behind trying Tofranil?
Has anyone experienced any bad side effects from the hcg shots? I am administering them myself and just want to know what to look out for.
I want to see how I act without the meds and if I needed them in the first place, as I remember the Doctor giving me the meds rather hastily. I have the side effects of excessive sweating and sexual side effects. I also had the comment by multiple people that I'm somewhat 'distant' , 'blase' or 'nonchalant' about everything. It was in fact a reason that my ex-girlfriend broke up with me. I originally started taking the meds as a result of minor depression and anxiety disorder.
I have had an EKG to monitor heart activity and it read normal. Should these side-effects be a cause for concern besides from being discomforting? Thanks.

If you are receiving too much of this medication it can have serious side effects. Levothyroxine (synthroid) takes time to build up into your system which is why you may have felt okay on it initially. I would suggest that you contact a medical professional. Any chest pain is serious. I would urge you to go to Urgent Care and have your symptoms evaluated. Make sure you take ALL the medications and Vitamins you care currently taking with you.
Hi, I've been taking Topamax for weightloss for about 3 monts. The only side effects I've experienced have been the tingling in my fingers and toes, ususally first thing in the morning. I've had no sexual side effects as "slay" has mentioned. I'm down 30 pounds, so if anything, it's improved!

Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine. What side effects may I notice from receiving this medicine?

In some cases modifications were performed to the extent that they do not include any of the basic and fundamental postulates of the hCG protocol, resulting in UNWANTED or side-effects. We set forth that much of the negative publicity surrounding the method is due to the lack of proper validation by the appropriate governmental agencies, such that it has been marginally performed often by untrained personnel, under uncontrolled conditions.
I have been offered this clen stuff but after reading so many things about side effects I'm a little worried. I've had Phentermine in the past and it did help loads, but it is not working for me again now.
I know that i'm hypo because of my last labs, I'm trying to get re-introduced to synthroid but i'm sensitive to it and it has caused those side effects, so i was just wondering if these side effects will go away or if it is dangerous to just keep up on the meds despite the side effects..
I havent had a soda in 5 weeks, and as far as the side effects go. Remember the side effects are possible side effects. The could happen to some, all or none. Its the chance we all take to get well.
I only ask this because, when I originally started coming off of an SSRI, I was having unwanted side effects and I went back to the doctor and suggested that maybe I go much slower. It really minimized the effects and other than a headache and a little naseau, it worked for me. In my opinion, some GP docs, wean us off of these medications a little too fast...have you tried going back to talking to him/her?
I have been on it for a bit, slowly have gone up to 300 mg, slowly been having the wonderful weightloss side effect, but all my other side effects are oppisite of what is stated as what are probable side effects. Ok, no, I have not had any hairloss. As a matter of fact, if anything, it has been making my hair grow faster, and of that I am thankful, for I have had some mighty funky hair cuts this year. lol.
I took Phentermine and B-12 injections with my doctor. I would go once every three weeks. The week I got the injection I would lose more weight (about 4 pounds) and 1 pound the other two weeks. Keeping consistent with my diet and exercise. So while I did not experience extra energy as I believe a lot of folks are looking for with the B-12 shots, it did increase my metabolism and increased my weight loss. So while the experts feel you should only take for deficiencies, I've seen results.

Could Nopaline have caused these side effects? Am i permenantly damaged? If anyone knows please write back.
Has anyone taken Effexor and, if so, did you experience any weight related side-effects. I am worried about gaining weight and will not take this medicine until I find out. I'm just scared because SSRIs cause gain. Even though this is not an SSRI, it could cause weight gain.
My psychiatrist is weening me off the Lexapro and is giving me Topamax which should induce weight-loss and also lessen the side effects of going off the Lexapro. Unfortunately, there is a lot of side effects of Topomax as well but weight gain is not one of them and need to loose the weight now !!!!
So far I have experienced only very mild side effects (vomiting once). One thing I am trying to figure out is if the metformin is the reason I feel so drained. I have zero energy. I've never been the most energetic person but now I have so little energy I find myself spending less time shopping and going to church. I hear the met can cause a B12 deficiency, so maybe thats what it is. The pharmacist tells me its hard to absorb the vitamin so its kind of pointless to take them.
BUT my concern is that 2 months later, i went to my doctor with a cough that I just cannot control and now pain on the opposite side exactly like the right side and he tells me I have it again, on the other side. I THOUGHT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RARE??????? so how did it come back so soon and now on the opposite side? I refuse to go back to reg. dr., he can refer me to another doctor. wanted to tell you I sweat like a lizard at night and sometimes during the day.
I slowly tapered down and also took zoloft (I found this to have few side effects). This helped immensely along with the thought that it was just a withdrawal and it wouldn't last. The depression decreased rapidly and completely within 3-4 weeks. However, without the slow taper and the zoloft, I honestly don't think I could have made it. Also I find that keeping extremely busy keeps my mind from going into depressed mode. I hope I have helped somewhat.
I've tried clonidine on 3 seperate occassions - it may 'reduce' physical symptoms a little, but I didn't notice much difference. On the flip side, it makes you really sleepy the first few times you take it - so the extra sleep helps. :) Do not take for more than a few days - it can cause rebound hypertension - even in people that don't have hypertension. And if I recall correctly - the doses are 0.1mg - 0.2mg & 0.3mg -- but it's been awhile. Good luck no matter what you try!
