Avatar n tn Many physicians are not comfortable prescribing multiple weight loss medications at the same time out of concern for increased risk of side effects. Also keep in mind that phentermine is not generally recommended in the long term. It may make more sense to just stick with one of the weight loss medications to see if there are any beneficial effects. It's also a good time to think carefully about how the weight loss occurred while on the new medication.
Avatar n tn My body aches and im tired alot and i have been taking phentermine to help loose weight but i lost 10lbs and thats all.
Avatar n tn I used these pills back in 2004 and they worked fine but seem to be working different on me this time around. Please help, does anyone else have these side effects or has had them while on phentermine? I should add these pills were RX from the fat doctor in my area.
Avatar f tn I suggest you be very careful with phentermine, it is very similar to the chemical makeup of methamphetamine. The side effects of high dose or extended use are similar to amphetamine. This drug can blow out your adrenal glands, make you grind teeth until they rot, cause nervous ticks. When amphetamines were more regulated to sell as diet aids, phentermine started to be the main drug sold for hunger suppression. Be careful, people do get strung out on that drug.
Avatar n tn if you have a lap band why are you taking a dangerous and addictive weight suppressant? Phentermine has many side effects that can be serious and dangerous including pulmonary hypertension and addiction. If you have had surgery to help weight loss you should be waaay past the point of using drugs.
20813548 tn?1519654796 I am within my first week of taking phentermine. Will the cheat tightening and sleeplessness ease up in the next week or two? I am on the lowest dose, 15mg.
Avatar f tn ve been on the market long enough, they get banned because they have horrible long term side effects. It seems very risky. The healthiest thing you can do to lose weight is exercise! The other thing you can do is eat a healthy, balanced diet. I KNOW these things are much easier said than done, which is why I think you need to talk to someone about your eating disorder. I'm surprised that you are so up front and open about it, and yet aren't seeking counseling.
Avatar f tn Phentermine is an appetite suppressant. "After short-term use, tolerance begins and can be followed by rebound weight gain. Long term data for use of phentermine shows no net weight loss." Ummm. :) I wish i had an appetite to suppress lol. But there are many reasons for finding it hard to lose weight. Untreated hypothyroidism is one of them. For me it's severe insulin resistance. That insulin loves fat and never wants to let it go. Grrr.

Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.

Avatar n tn i dont know if these are possible long term effects of the drugs or something else. everyone keeps saying im having anxiety attacks but these feelings come when i am calm and seem very serious. if anyone has any advice on whats going on ,whether drug related or not,, or any advice on good doctors to go to PLEASE let me know immediatly.
Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.
Business woman2 Losing weight that quickly is not safe and phentermine is not a long term solution. Both my daughter and her husband were on the phentermine for a while; they both lost fabulously, but within a month of going off it, they both gained back everything they'd lost, plus some. Both are now obese, where they weren't before; just overweight.
Avatar m tn You make a great point that weight loss medication like phentermine is not a long term weight loss solution. If you do go back to old habits, you might expect to gain back the weight that you lost. But the good news is that you're in a good starting place and you are still motivated to keep it going. Good luck! Dr. B www.theflexdiet.
737114 tn?1232035410 I am a nurse(36 yrs) in a family practice clinic and have seen long term amphetemine use affect thyroid function. You would be wise to go to your family physician and ask for a complete thyroid panel. If your thyroid is off it can add to the fatigue as well. God Bless and Good Luck!
Avatar m tn dont be too scared as said above few people experience sides but one thing is for sure long term use for decades is not healthy and only cirrhosis or severe damaged liver can justify such use so i'd definitely combo with other therapies so that nucs can be used short term from latest easl conference we have now tests for sustained immune control of hbv cccdna equal or less than 5 copies/cell we now need an hbsag level equal to 5copies/cell, mybe hbsag 500iu/ml
1397822 tn?1294279534 Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine with pharmacologic activity similar to amphetamines. Actions include central nervous system stimulation and elevation of blood pressure. As with other medications in this class mood effects are quite variable. But there are case reports of mania and psychosis, so it probably does have somewhat of a "mood elevating" effect.
