Common Questions and Answers about Phentermine dosage medication

phentermine

Avatar n tn Hello, Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.

Avatar f tn I was given phentermine 15 mg by a "doctor" at a weight loss clinic. I'm a bit skeptical because of all the negative reviews I have read. I am currently 136 at 5' 3'' and want to get to my pre pregnancy weight of 120. I have tried other diets and just cant seem to get the extra weight off. My son is now 1 and i'm starting to feel a bit depressed about the extra pounds. Is 15 mg enough for me to lose the weight?
Avatar n tn Eli68 - you should try to get new thyroid blood work done, to determine if your medication dosage is too high, or if the palps and anxiety could be from the phentermine. When you get them, you can post the results and reference ranges here for us to further evaluate.
568877 tn?1216822048 I am on Phentermine a diet pill, I have been taking it for 4 months. I have Anxiety and I am also Bipolar which I haven't had any Anxiety for over a year now. For about a month now I have been having Anxiety attacks and Depression really bad. I fought out I shouldn't take Phentermine if I have Anxiety or Depression. So I was going to get back on my meds. that I used to take which was Welbrutain XL and Xanxa .

Towards the end of February 2017 I had ketones in my urine and was in ketosis. I was excercisin religiously and watching my carb intake.i was eating between 100 to 150gms of carbs. Avatar n tn This could be a reaction to your new medication, but it is also possible that it is a reaction to something else you came in contact with, an infection or something else. You should stop taking the drug, and go to the doctor. Furthermore.... if you have a lap band why are you taking a dangerous and addictive weight suppressant? Phentermine has many side effects that can be serious and dangerous including pulmonary hypertension and addiction.
Avatar n tn My body aches and im tired alot and i have been taking phentermine to help loose weight but i lost 10lbs and thats all.
1397822 tn?1294279534 Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine with pharmacologic activity similar to amphetamines. Actions include central nervous system stimulation and elevation of blood pressure. As with other medications in this class mood effects are quite variable. But there are case reports of mania and psychosis, so it probably does have somewhat of a "mood elevating" effect.
Avatar f tn I started taking Phentermine 30 mg daily on Feb 4, 2009. To date I have not lost a pound. Infact I gained a 2 lbs. I have increased my exercise on my Elliptical (30-60min/day) and started to eat healthier. How long does it take for phentermine to kick in? Any advice? Anything I should say to my physcian?
Avatar n tn m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
551496 tn?1215614366 I have been taking Phentermine for 2 and a 1/2 months now. I started taking it in April almost on the same day as my period started. Almost one week after my period stopped another one began. So I made a dr appointment. The doctor done a pap and tested me for all the std's....and felt me for cist and everything came up normal....she said that starting the new medication was the possible reasoning for the 2 periods that month and to contact her if it continued.
Avatar f tn I went to see my doctor and he put me on phentermine 37.5mg once a day and topamax 23 mg in half doeses twice dailey. I also take adderall 20mg twice Dailey. I asked him if theses two meds who interact with one another and his response was no . I guess my question is how do I safely spread them out during the day. It seems I can't get it right because when I take either or I get very anxious . I already take a anti anxiety med clonazepam for accational panic attacks.
481269 tn?1208280771 I have taken Phentermine several times in the past and I was told by my DR. to AVOID drinking alcohol while taking phentermine. Phentermine is a stimulant that is similar to an amphetamine. It is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. It worked great for me loosing weight. But, I do have 2 friends that mixed alcohol and phentermine and it was NOT a pretty site. It can increase some of the side effects of phentermine.
579324 tn?1276054274 i would like to know if there is any reason why i should not take methimazole and phentermine at the same time and/or if the phentermine could possibly cause my hyperactive thyroidism to return.
Avatar m tn You make a great point that weight loss medication like phentermine is not a long term weight loss solution. If you do go back to old habits, you might expect to gain back the weight that you lost. But the good news is that you're in a good starting place and you are still motivated to keep it going. Good luck! Dr. B www.theflexdiet.
Avatar f tn I really stop taking medication, if I track from the first day of my life. I would be 5 1/2 weeks. I am most concerned that it may already affected the babu or may cause a miscarriage or birth defects. Does anyone have experience with us? Or no? Is there anyway the doctor could tell if the baby is OK?
Avatar f tn I am not fully versed on the full range of possible side effects from the medication Phentermine. I would suggest perhaps having a conversation with your pharmacist and your prescribing physician about any symptoms that might be attributed to taking this medication. Best of luck in this regard and please be sure to visit our community and update us as to how you are feeling.
Avatar f tn I can't comment on the thyroid concerning med's at all. I do know that you should be questioning the phentermine though. I take BP med's for my blood pressure and went on phentermine ~1 1/2 years ago to loose weight as a last choice thing. I took 1/2 doses due to the incline in my BP and was having chest pains. I did loose 51 pounds in 6 months in which was great, plus full of energy while on it. Though in the last year it has all came back, plus now my energy level has sunk.
3195777 tn?1345124487 today has been my first dosage and i am on a 30 mg instead of the full dosage. that way if there are negative side effects it wont harm my body to quit. I have had my thyroids checked because my great aunt was diagnosed with thyroid cancer so it was possible i had problems. everything came back perfect. the only problem i have with my body is my high cholesterol which is why i have been put on this pill and a very low cholesterol diet.
Avatar n tn Many physicians are not comfortable prescribing multiple weight loss medications at the same time out of concern for increased risk of side effects. Also keep in mind that phentermine is not generally recommended in the long term. It may make more sense to just stick with one of the weight loss medications to see if there are any beneficial effects. It's also a good time to think carefully about how the weight loss occurred while on the new medication.
