Phentermine and your heart

Common Questions and Answers about Phentermine and your heart

phentermine

Avatar f tn Wait it out. Phentermine is nothing but caffeine, and the pharmacist and doctor should have told you to reduce your caffein intake. If they didnt, then it was in your package insert when you get the medicine filled. Right now all you can do is wait it out. Rest, drink lots of water and NO MORE ENERGY DRINKS. Never, ever do that again. You are going to cause yourself to have heart problems do to the excessive amount of caffeine.
Avatar f tn Phentermine is an appetite suppressant. "After short-term use, tolerance begins and can be followed by rebound weight gain. Long term data for use of phentermine shows no net weight loss." Ummm. :) I wish i had an appetite to suppress lol. But there are many reasons for finding it hard to lose weight. Untreated hypothyroidism is one of them. For me it's severe insulin resistance. That insulin loves fat and never wants to let it go. Grrr.
Avatar f tn I can't comment on the thyroid concerning med's at all. I do know that you should be questioning the phentermine though. I take BP med's for my blood pressure and went on phentermine ~1 1/2 years ago to loose weight as a last choice thing. I took 1/2 doses due to the incline in my BP and was having chest pains. I did loose 51 pounds in 6 months in which was great, plus full of energy while on it. Though in the last year it has all came back, plus now my energy level has sunk.
Avatar f tn Caution is advised combining Wellbutrin and Phentermine as this combo may increase your risk of seizures. If weight gain is a side effect of your psych meds, talk to your prescribing doctor about your concerns.
673515 tn?1234320119 When you have heart palpitations, take your pulse. GERD should not cause this, and taking your pulse will tell you if your heart is palpitating. Anxiety can cause your heart to race, in which case you need medication for the stress, and it sounds like the Paxil was either too high a dose, or not the right medication for you. Take Tums or something similar for the heart burn, and go back and get your Paxil re-evaluated, or switched to a different medication..
Avatar f tn This is from a while ago but yes yes phentermine is supposed to be used as an aide to help cravings. When you feel that hunger its your body saying you need nutrition. Atkins bars are so good and have barely any net carbs. Also sugar free jello or cheese sticks. Celery and other veggies are also super good to eat. Be so careful because in addition to getting addicted to the drug itself it can also cause eating disorders.
198504 tn?1195158059 HI!I AM STARTING ON THE PHENTERMINE PILLS AND I WAS JUST CURIOUS IF ANYONE HAS DRANK ENERGY DRINKS, (RED BULL, MONSTER, ETC...) WHILE USING PHENTERMINE AND IF SO DID THIS INCREASE THE EFFECTS IN A STRANGE WAY? I JUST DO NOT WANT TO CHANCE IT IF THAT IS THE CASE. ANY RESPONSES WILL BE APPRICIATED.
Avatar f tn I'm not familar with what phentermine is or what it's used for but I'm sure somebody will notice your question and respond..
579324 tn?1276054274 i would like to know if there is any reason why i should not take methimazole and phentermine at the same time and/or if the phentermine could possibly cause my hyperactive thyroidism to return.
Avatar n tn First off does your Dr know about your palpatations? And do you have a cardiac history? Cause if you do its probable not a wise choice for your heart, but being obese isnt either. That being said, I have the same problem as you do. I have had palp's for years, tachycardia, bradycardia, PVC's, Ive been to the hosp for 180 heart rate out of the blue, and its beat so fast I cant count. Vagal maneuvers work for me to bring the heartrate down. I have no underlying cardiac problems.
Avatar n tn m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
897541 tn?1241719557 Im getting the B-12 and lipo shots as well. Maybe I will still get results if I stop taking the phentermine and stick to the shots. Does anyone have any feedback or advice.
Avatar m tn My doctor also prescribed taking metformin(glucophage) in addition to the phentermine and birth control. I have lost about 8 pounds in the last month since taking the phentermine but i dont feel like I am losing enough weight for how little i have been eating.
494656 tn?1209640771 I have used adipex(phentermine) and have had the B12 shots before and it was awesome. That was before I had kids and moved to NC and then to SC where I currently reside. I have had two kids and Im approximately 45 lbs overweight. My daughter is 7 months old and I know they say to give it the same amount of time it took to put it on. Well Im only 2 months shy of that date and I still have 45 lbs to lose.
Avatar f tn One of my kids has taken phentermine and it did help a little. However she has just this week learned she has hypothyroidism and that may be another reason her metabolism is sluggish. She is now on thyroid medicine and hoping it may be somewhat helpful in the big picture. Wish I could be more helpful. I hope you get answers soon. Good luck!
551496 tn?1215614366 I have some spotting and cramps. I am sure it will be a rough one! I did stop the phentermine over the weekend and started back yesterday(Monday). Maybe thats what triggered it....who knows. Being a woman shouldnt be this much stress and hard work!
Avatar n tn I too was ok with the thought of not having any then low and behold I saw my babys heart beat for the first time and felt emotions and feelings I never knew existed. I am now obsessed with having a baby and not sure if I can or not. Praying to God that he has my heart and soul in His big hands and he will see me thru.
Avatar f tn I've been taking monthly B12 injections for about 2 years, and 37.5 mg phentermine daily for about a month, and I haven't lost any weight at all. The four and a half pounds that I've lost, I attribute to the boot camp that joined two weeks ago.
Avatar n tn My body aches and im tired alot and i have been taking phentermine to help loose weight but i lost 10lbs and thats all.
397118 tn?1219762250 My cousin was on Phentermine but not Sub or Lex....I think that if you took the sub along with the Phentermine, you would get real nervous and shaky...maybe even heart palpitations and put you into panic. I'm just guessing based on what each drug does and how the affects would be if you joined those two actions...but I would also suggest studying on both and search the web for the interactions....
Avatar f tn It's illegal now. It causes death. I recommend starting hCG injections. You can google "hcg diet in houston" and I'm sure you will find a place that can help you. This is much more safer and effective than phentermine. That is very dangerous to your heart and has been known to kill people that is why they won't sell / prescribe it to you.
1401296 tn?1280799533 I went to my first visit at a doctor in Victoria, Texas last Friday. They gave me phentermine 30mg with 5htp combined and Lipo B injectibles to do at home. I 'm trying to figure out if anyone else has tried this method of dieting and is it safe? I'm at the highest weight I've ever been at (257) and very desperate, but also cautious. Please anyone with information out there let me know.
Avatar n tn i take 125mcg synthroid and take 37.5 pill of phentermine. lately been getting heart palpitations and anxiety attacks does that make sense?
Avatar f tn Phentermine is very very dangerous for your heart and can cause fatal rhythms. You might want to consider healty eating and exercise. Weight Watchers is a well balanced program that I have always had alot of success with. Best wishes and steer clear of that medication.
410475 tn?1262942367 If you're gaining 1-2 pounds every day, I'd go to the Dr. and see if there's another underlying cause. I think it's dangerous to experiment with old prescriptions.
Avatar f tn At that time the results came back negative and I was told my heart was in very good condition and the pain I was experiencing was most likely due to my nuropathy caused by kidney disease. Two and half years ago, I was diagnosed with a MI, and whisked away to a huge medical facility. There I was diagnosed with a severe bleeding ulcer(down 50% blood volume), and Congestive Heart Failure. My question is, could the contrast dye, used in the stress test be the cause of the Heart disease?
