Avatar n tn Have you used Valsartan for treatment of hypertension patients in high risk patients? Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Avatar n tn I went for an MRI of my breast and found out that over the past four years my aortic root has dilated from 3.3 in 2005 to 3.7 in 2009. The biggest jump from 2008-2009 3.4 to 3.7cm. Does this mean I have an aneurysm? I don't have any of the risk factors. I am not overweight, have low blood pressure, never smoked, don't drink over 1 glass of wine. So what is the risks and what is the prognosis?
336017 tn?1263579257 the best ARB to take is probably telmisartan because of its high tissue penetration. The best ACE inhibitor to take is perindopril. Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar f tn It is thought that losartan is not as good a choice as other ARBs like valsartan and telmisartan because losartan penetrates tissue less than those drugs and because losartan is a surmountable antagonist that could, theoretically, lose effectiveness over time. This isn't a proven fact to my knowledge and Dr. Dietz for various reasons may or may not agree.
Avatar n tn Just out of curosity...for those of you with the dry cough. Do any of you have hypertension and are any of you on a ACE Inhibitor such as Lisonipril? The ACE Inhibitor class of drugs has a know side effect of a dry cough. May be worth taking a look at if you are on and ACE Inhibitor. This discussion is related to Dry cough and PAC'S.
Avatar m tn t keep up with the research in many cases, and this is one such case. **High-dose** ARBs (e.g., telmisartan, valsartan) and ACE inhibitors (e.g., perindopril) have been shown to be extremely effective in halting aortic enlargement, as long as a sufficiently high dose is used (i.e., maximum FDA-approved dose). Do the research and demand that your doctor read it and re-evaluate his/her recommendation of beta blockers, or find a doctor who actually keeps up with the latest research.
Avatar n tn -( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril. Called the dr, he told me to stop the valsartan, don't take anything for 2 days and then back on the benazepril and see him next week.
Avatar m tn p in my 19 14mnths bck at that time my b.p was 230/124 its over 200 fo 3 days then i started using telmisartan 40mg nd meoprolol 25mg bt my bp ranged 150-160/104-115 fo 8 mnths in btwen i was evaluated for 2ndry causes of hyp no resns wer found doc said its essenstial hyp then doc incresd telmisartan to 80 mg my systolic came to 140 mm/hg bt diastolic still ranging 100-110 why is it so high nd how to regulate it ?
Avatar n tn THIS is the problem with most cardiologists today. They routinely prescribe beta blockers for patients with aortic root dilatation, even though the most recent studies have shown that they DO NOT HELP YOU. Beta blockers are prescribed because they make sense on paper, but in practice, they are absolutely useless. These doctors are also grossly behind the times. I don't know whether they are ignorant of the latest, big-news breakthroughs or just unwilling to try them.
Avatar m tn IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TAKING COMBINATION OF TELMISARTAN &AMLODIPINE FOR LONG TIME
Avatar n tn 1. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of nasogastric tube insertion in the palliative setting? 2. How would you assess her nausea and vomiting? 3. You determine she has a malignant bowel obstruction - what management options do you have? Consider both pharmacological and nonpharmacological options. I am new nurse and require to answer these questions. Can you please help me?
Avatar m tn Your blood pressure, urea and creatinine levels are within the normal range. Also, you are on telmisartan, belongs to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors which may decrease the rate of decline in kidney function. However, levels of microalbuminuria above 30 are indicative of early kidney disease. Am not clear about the normal ranges specified by your lab. So, please discuss the possibilities with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
459164 tn?1206363843 Hi, there is no such information which conclusively states that valsartan may cause cellulitis or increase its intensity or duration. Have you taken valsartan and also have a concurrent skin infection? If yes, have you talked to your doctor about it and taken any medication for it? Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any other queries.
Avatar m tn My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?
Avatar m tn I really like his testosterone doctor because even though my husband was on the low-end of normal he still treated my husband because of his symptoms . My husband has been on testosterone therapy for over a year now and he says he feels like a new man. His doctor does all of the follow-up testing every three months to make sure his cardiac health stays OK because of the testosterone. My husband was also dealing with fatigue, muscle loss, enlarged testicles, and interrupted sleep.
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar m tn My Mom has type 2 Diabetes from over a decade. Also, she is patient of high blood pressure. She is on bloog sugar medications like Metformin, Glimipride and Telmisartan, Amlodipine tablets for high bp Daily. Now, she has many complications of Diabetes including Diabetes Neuropathy, eyes issues like cataracts, osteoarthritis etc. she also has complications in her back/spine. Now, her doctor has not recommend any special multivitamin apart from diabetic die,t.
Avatar n tn I've taken Valsartan since 2010 successfully. It controls my BP well.
Avatar m tn And consider angiotensin receptor blockers like telmisartan or valsartan (high doses necessary) to stabilize or reverse the dilatation. Read my old posts or use Google to learn about this. There's research out of Johns Hopkins on it (dr Dietz).
Avatar m tn Good ones are candesartan, telmisartan, valsartan. Depending on your body size you may need to take a maximal dose or even more than a maximal dose if you are a big person. (When I say maximal dose I refer to the maximum dose approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration; this info is available on the internet for each type of ARB.) High-dose ARBs can stop or even reverse aortic root dilatation. 3) Does COQ10 help + good diet in reversing it by even 3-4 mm?
548642 tn?1266179652 You really need to talk this over with your doctor. Unfortunately I was exposed to a litany of drugs as a youth 1968-69. Environmentally they were all around me, I happened to be one of a handful to become addicted. First I had a habit of taking codeine #4 and reds, I don't even know if they still make those. When I say a habit, I mean I was physically addicted to the point that if I quit, I would go into withdrawl.
514349 tn?1272801633 The letter contained no information on how long this had been going on or how high a content the tablets contained, but my medicine was included in the batch list that was sent. Of course, I received a replacement tablets from the pharmacy where I get them. How great a risk could the previous tablets pose to me?
Avatar m tn There are times when I telephoned the involved pharmaceutical company to ask if the specific symptom has been reported due to the medication of interest (Oops I have been watching too much Person of Interest). Hope this is a new idea for you. There are many causes of leg cramps. Started Vit E and Magnesium as well as "nergy C" with 7 B and other antioxidants. I Like this raspberry suppplement.(bought as powder form, in a box of packets). Good bye leg cramps and hello energy.
Avatar n tn Could this be the problem of my high blood pressure. Recently I was put on Valsartan HCT and I feel awful. Tired spaced cold...
Avatar f tn with a headache on back right side of head plus shoulder pain. I have fibromyalgia so assumed it was from that. By 4 a.m when I took my dog out I decided to check bp. It was 190/106 heartrate 83. I take my meds at 5:30 a.m. so laid back down and retook bp before I took meds. It was 140/85. I assumed the elevation had been from the pain so took meds and went to sleep. Took bp when I got up at 9:30 and was 174/97. I called my electrophysiologist.
Avatar n tn According to the Mayo Clinic, you should aim for a target rate of 70 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate during vigorous exercise. That means that a 40-year-old man would have a maximum heart rate of 180 beats per minute, and that during aerobic exercise his target heart rate should rise to about 144 beats per minute. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man's target rate would be higher, at about 160. The key words there are "maximum" and "during vigorous exorcise".
Avatar m tn And losartan is really not the best ARB from what I understand. Try max dose or higher of candesartan, valsartan, or telmisartan.
