179530 tn?1368936603 Revolution is not working for my dog's flea problem! We have used Frontline and I'm even more dissatisfied with w/ the results. What is a good flea treatment?
Avatar f tn My dog chubby, is about a year old, maybe a few months over a year, She has long hair, and he constantly is scratching or licking or biting himself, we've tried everything, we've given him 2 flea baths, flea powder, shaving him, it doesnt eam to go away, hes starting to get sores from wheres he is itching, we dont have any money to take him to the vet, so is there any way we can help him stop without having to go to the vet? and what is the cause?
Avatar n tn I know you've read on some sites it's ok to feed D-earth! however it is NOT, I don't even like to use it topically on an animal b/c they would ingest it.
Avatar f tn While waiting for the biopsy, use topical Revolution every two weeks at an appropriate dose for your rabbit. Revolution is available by prescription, and is usually used monthly, but, for mites it must be used every two weeks. I would also order a rabbit E-Collar to prevent your rabbit from self-trauma. These are available at Online pet stores. There is also a possibility that this problem is behavioral. In this case you must try and discover what precipitates the problem, i.e.
3950214 tn?1348788917 Buy a fine-toothed flea comb at the pet store, and comb Fluffy every day. Between the Revolution and drowning any fleas you pick up with the comb, you should do all right. Be sure to vacuum like crazy, the carpeting and the furniture and all. Wash the blankets on your bed if you have the energy, but really, the fleas will be attracted to the cat and the Revolution will kill them.
Avatar f tn To find: Buy a flea comb at the pet store. These are very fine-toothed combs, and the flea gets trapped in the tines. Pour a bowl of water and comb the cat with the water nearby. If you see a flea in the comb, drown it in the water. You *can* comb fleas out of a cat with repeated combings (to get all the newer hatchings as they come) but it is much easier to use Frontline or Revolution, both prescription products.
Avatar f tn I think that there may be a mistake with the diagnosis--scabies mites are easily killed by several medications, including ivermectin (given orally or by injection every 1-2 weeks for 4-6 treatments), Revolution (selamectin) applied topically every 2 weeks for 3-4 treatments, and less optimally by anti-parasitic dips such as paramite or Amitraz applied weekly for 6 weeks.
Avatar m tn The vet uses Bars and divides the ampoules according to the weight of the cat, but I believe Revolution is less toxic and safer and is effective against mites as well. I will probably divide the tube, but I will call the vet first just in case. I don't know where those fleas came from. The mom and dad cats were free till the Summer months, and we vaccuum regularly. They are all indoor cats, but just like to laze around in the balcony in the sun, so maybe it has to do with dust.
Avatar n tn Allergies to over 100s of things, external parasites such as fleas and mites, and skin infections make up the most likely causes. To treat and control the problem correctly, she should be seen by a veterinarian. There isn't much home care that can help until the underlying cause is found. Baths only work for about 10-30 minutes, so are not beneficial until the problem is known and can target the skin correctly. Baths may actually make problems worse pending the cause.
Avatar n tn Skin issues are so complex that it usually takes a combination of many medications and protocols simultaneously to achieve results. The primary allergen and the results or damage to the skin of that allergen as well as secondary invaders must all be treated together or effective treatment will fail. Immunotherapy can sometimes take a year to a year and a half before some relief is noted.
212161 tn?1599427282 Double your dose of the probiotic any time your puppy has to have an antibiotic or anti-parasitic medication. Use Revolution as your flea and tick repellent and heartworm preventative for at least one year. Have your dog only vaccinated with the recommended regimen for the first two years, than request that your vet perform vaccine titers. It has been shown that some vaccines last much longer than only one year.
Avatar n tn My guess is to take her to a vet, but maybe in the meantime try de-worming her and try some advantage or revolution (a de-flea and parasite drop of liquid at the back of the neck), as sometimes revolution covers a few more parasites than the worming paste alone. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I recommend starting by taking your dog to your veterinarian for assessment of the itch and medication recommendations. The most common reasons for itchy skin in dogs include skin infections, microscopic skin parasites such as scabies mites, food allergy, or pollen/dust allergies. Since scabies mites are difficult to find, I trial treat dogs for scabies with Revolution every 2 weeks for 3 treatments.
Avatar n tn Revolution? Revolution also kills Scabies mites. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn Revolution. These type of monthly flea drops are the only thing that will 100% keep your dog free of fleas. If you're using a flea collar take it off immediately! They don't work and all they do is add more toxins into your dog's blood. Also if you give your dog a monthly flea bath to try to get rid of the fleas, stop!! This is very bad for them also because you're adding lots of chemical toxins to their blood, fleas baths should be a very rare event.
220917 tn?1309784481 Q took my history, gave me a really good exam and said he wants to probably repeat some testing and also do a PET scan and SPECT(?) scan(?) of my brain. I have had a PET done, but am going to have to look up the SPECT or spect... He said there's something wrong in the brain. And he kept saying it over and over and over! All right, already!! I get it! It was kind of cute. He said, There's something wrong in the brain. Does that make sense?
Avatar m tn Your kitty is probably uncomfortable and needs flea treatment. He needs the prescription brands-Advantage or Revolution. Please do not ever use the flea products that you get in drug stores. I've had vets tell me that they are highly toxic and deadly. They should be taken off the market because they've caused way too many deaths.
Avatar n tn m having trouble understanding your post, have you used the revolution and the cats are experiencing the scabs and hair loss or do they already have this condition and you are wondering if you should risk using it?
973741 tn?1342342773 ve used Revolution previously and to be honest, never had fleas before on any pet! My dog did have a tic once and was due for her Revolution, I put it on and that tic dried up by the next morning. ?? It's what our vet recommends. My only complaint is it is super expensive. Seems to work well but geez, you have to have extra cash to have a pet for things like this! What the information I got about Revolution is that it causes the dog to not be a host to the fleas.
17727171 tn?1459515686 If your pet(s) do have fleas, you will need to treat not only the pet(s) but also your house and your yard. You should also treat your OWN bedding since you say that they make YOU itchy. Fleas traditionally don't stay on humans the way they stay on animals because the pH is different and our bodies don't make for such a great home for fleas. If your pets are positive for fleas, ask your vet for flea treatments. DO NOT BUY THE ONES THEY SELL OVER THE COUNTER IN THE GROCERY STORES!
592969 tn?1248325405 At this point, you might need to wash all the bedding and vacuum really frequently. Vacuum the crevices and under furniture and all furniture material. Take the material that was vacuumed up out to the trash immediately. Frontline and Advantage are products I use on my 2 indoor cats. I know we'll bring a few fleas in from the outdoors and need to reapply the flea medicine to our cats every once in awhile for control.
874521 tn?1424116797 m really grateful for useful articles like these that protect both us and our pets. And, I do have a top floor balcony that I can allow the cat out on, so long as I supervise her.
172023 tn?1334672284 Currently, any pet too big to sleep under the cabin seat must be shipped as cargo (and are likely treated accordingly). And pet cargo travel is not even available when outside temperatures are below 45 or above 85 degrees. Just imagine – bright, climate-controlled, pressurized cabins staffed by trained pet attendants every step of the way. Potty breaks and fresh food and water at scheduled stops, medications administered for pups that need them, it’s finally here.
Avatar n tn Can I have some feedback about any reputable online suppliers of pet medications? Or vise versa.
Avatar n tn Fleas certainly can be a concern, and they can sometimes be difficult to find. Isolating your pet to a crate with a white towel/sheet and giving an oral Capstar tablet from your vet and watching for any signs of fleas over the next 4 hrs can be a simple test your veterinarian can do for you in the office or you can do at home with your veterinarians assistance.
Avatar m tn If it was within the last year, you could simply call your veterinarian and ask for their recommended flea control medicine (Advantage, Frontline, Revolution, etc). You could give that a try (remember, dose every pet in the house) and see if there are any improvements. If you don't see her getting better, then she should see a veterinarian ASAP.
