Avatar m tn I have been having electrical shocks in my left calf now for about a year and a half. After this diagnosis I was told to continue with my Gabapentin {3x a day @300mg} but I was also told that a possible Botox shot in the surface area of my left calf might also end this pain. Can anyone tell me what possible effects the Botox shot might have on me such as adverse reactions etc.

Avatar f tn Hello. If your surgeries did not involve discectomy, the C6-C7 disc can protrude even if there are plates and screws. There are some newer techniques which can be used as alternatives for the traditional surgeries. These are called "percutaneous perispinal pain procedures", as described by Witzmann. One of these techniques is the Radiofrequency Facet Denervation. Facet joints are the joints between two vertebrae. They provide mobility.

446049 tn?1649005835 A friend of a friend who had (IBS) chronic diarreah and her doctor started her on Cholestyramine which she got in packets and mixed with juice to drink. After a week her diarreah was gone and now has been gone for a little over 3 months. I know that it's prescribed for cholesterol issues, but it also has stopped her constant diarreah. The strange thing is her gastro doctor prescribed it and her cholesterol levels have always been fine.
Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, cervical disorders like pinched nerves, temporal arteritis etc. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
398893 tn?1201315707 Again, I am not a doctor but for chronic daily headache or intractable migraine - I like an old tricyclic medication called Elavil (amityptiline sp??) You may have to work up to maybe 100mg per night (some people respond to 10mg) but it not only modulates pain, it makes you sleep hard. You have to make sure it doesn't make you sleepy during the day. I think this is really what the narcotic/phenergen does when you go to the ER.
Avatar f tn My brother in law tried acupuncture for his back pain for several months but it did not seem to work, but good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I have been battling chronic diarrhea for approximately 4 months following a 3 week period of flu in November 2016. 647120 tn?1256601651 Secondly, I wanted someone specializing in treating chronic pain (it IS a specialty). A google search for a chronic pain psychologist in the area that I live in turned up a couple of names, one of which I blew away because of an obvious attitude problem with respect to insurance coverage. I have been seeing the other one on a weekly basis since early October.
Avatar f tn s made from colostrum. Chisolm Biological Laboratories has different formulas. There is one or more for viruses, one for lyme, one for mycoplasma infections, etc. There are other companies who sell similar products on the internet, but Chisolm is the originator and more potent and specific. Only a licensed professional can purchase the products from Chisolm-you cannot purchase them from the internet. They are expensive however-about $140 for 30 pills and they are kept in the freezer.
Avatar f tn I havIe been a chronic pain patient for 13 years in the state of TN. TN is not a methadone friendly state. My pain management specialist had me on methadone for 12 years after trying other optoids with no success. I regained about 70% of my ability to function and good pain relief. I was able to go back to work after a year in bed.

Avatar n tn hi, my husband is on 60mg of methadone (pill form) a day for chronic back pain. He's been on this regimen for 4 years now. If he runs out of his pills before he gets the new script how long will the last dose of methadone stay in his system and how quickly will the "dt's" start? I am asking because the doc had to resched his appt and he might run short and want to be prepared.
Avatar f tn Ketamine (a veterinary anesthetic, primarily), dextromethorphan, amantadine, and now Namenda are the best-known medications which have been shown to have such benefits for chronic pain patients. They are the best-known medications which are clinically available to work in such a unique fashion. Ketamine has a history of at least some efficacy in treating chronic pain, including orofacial pain.
