Perineal hernia surgery in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Perineal hernia surgery in dogs

hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn There are other causes of perineal hernias, for example, straining to defecate or even a genetic weakness in the muscle mass. Female dogs can also develop perineal hernias. If the hernia is small, sometimes scar tissue or fatty deposits can seal it off without having to have surgery done, but usually surgery is necessary to correct the defect. The danger with a hernia of this type is the risk of a loop of intestine slipping through and becoming trapped in the hole and strangulating.
Avatar f tn to everybody whose dogs got perineal hernia, my dog peso has perineal hernia, double perineal hernia, he had undergone six surgeries because perineal hernia is a recurring type, muscles may give in anytime. I would like to be of help to all of you....
7444176 tn?1390859012 I am very afraid and sadden by his condition, perineal hernia. He had surgery a couple weeks before X-mas a year ago, thankful it has only been one. But the vet never told me before or after costly surgery that this would be life long. I excepted the challenge because the love I have for my animal. I have tried everything from peas and carrots in his food, fiber, laxatives, olive oil, psyllium seed, etc.
442658 tn?1563386491 i picked up the pup and was told all the pups( litter of 8 ) had hernias. the male dogs went away but 2 females still had the hernia. i m going to take her to my vet to find out about it..thanks...
Avatar n tn I had quadruple hernia repair 2 weeks ago, umbilical, 2 inguinal and spieglian. I have also had a chronic cough. How do I know if I reinatured my umbilical hernia? I am feeling a hard knot and am not sure if it is scary tissue or hernia.
Avatar n tn If ALL his glands are up then that points to quite a serious infection or something similar which is affecting his whole system. Just one gland, and it is likely to be something wrong in some part of his body nearest to that gland. But this might not be a swollen gland at all. It might be a hernia....or it might be something else. Only a vet can tell you. Whatever, I do think there IS nothing you can do to fix it yourself. You need to take him to be checked by a vet.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy, STD free (recently tested) 21 year old male. I've been to the doctors multiple times and they have been little help. I have trouble getting and maintaining an erection. I am only able to expel pre-*** and cannot reach orgasm. I may have pelvic floor dysfunction as when I relax I can feel a bulge/tightening of muscles in the perinium as though there's something (intestine from a hernia?) pushing against the skin between my testicles and anus.
1322711 tn?1278415855 I had gone to my doctor who sent me to ER thinking it was a hematoma from the surgery, tumor, or hernia. I had a CT scan done in ER and it showed up clean. Next step was my OBGYN who did an ultrasound. That came back clean. I was then sent to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy and that also came back clean. I then went to a laparoscopy specialist who did not find anything either. I finally went to a general surgeon who also found nothing.
Avatar n tn Hello, The first possibility is of a boil or abscess in the area. The second possibility is of a perineal hernia. It is a hernia involving the perineum (pelvic floor), mostly found in men and often appears as a sudden swelling to one side (sometimes both sides) of the anus. Second possibility which comes to my mind is of pilonidal cyst.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The common causes for testicular pain are injury, infection and torsion. Injury can cause a tear of the testicular layers or it can cause a hematoma (blood collection). Infection can affect and cause epididymitis or orchitis resulting in pain. Testicular torsion is an emergency as the blood supply may be compromised and needs to be relieved. Sometimes a tumor of the testis can cause pain. Consult your primary care physician for therapy.
Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
Avatar n tn Yorkshire Terriers are extremely difficult to bred, hernia or not. These are VERY tiny dogs, and the problems that come along with breeding them can end up costing you not only thousands of dollars, but they can also cost you the life of your dog and/or her puppies. If you look at the Yorkshire Terrier breed standard as written by the AKC (American Kennel Club), it tells you that a Yorkshire Terrier should weigh between four and seven pounds. A three pound Yorkie is EXTREMELY small.
Avatar n tn I have penile cancer. My oncologist says that it will probably have to be amputated. I've got it mostly figured out, but I haven't found the answer to one question. No, I haven't asked my doc. I'm worried that I will become incontinent once I've had the procedure. What keeps the pee in once it no longer passes through my penis?
Avatar f tn Puppycat, I remember a friend having open surgery several years ago to remove his gallbladder and I believe the total recovery time was about 4-6 weeks until he felt really decent. Within about a week he was walking around in fairly decent shape, but this is open surgery like any other open surgery and you're going to have to give yourself 'down' time.
Avatar m tn The CABG area should be located in the area of your sternum. In my opinion, this hernia has nothing to do with the surgery or your car accident.
Avatar n tn ve been told their is little point in having surgery again yet - as Im still carrying my child a lot. What exercises can I do to help maybe close the gap? I am fairly active and have recently started a bit of yoga again, but Im conscious of maybe doing more harm than good.
Avatar n tn The injury occurred 9 months post-op PE surgery. The surgery must have extended me to a point where the perineal body was in danger of pulling.. One day after 6 months of no visual gains from stretching, I gained nearly 1/2 inch. I should have quite while ahead, or seen the possibility of danger but alas did not. The next day, as soon as I put on the weights, an unusual--uncomfortable but not painful--pull was felt at the perineal junction between my bulb. cavernosous and *******.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar n tn HI, I had a ct and MRI and it showed the bowel is in the hernia. I have had diarrhea after meals at different times and question if this is the cause of the diarrhea. I have no pain and no vomiting and appetite very good. ALso would surgery stop this diarrhea.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
