percocet

Avatar f tn I dont know about percocet but i know i was given lortab during my pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Heart palpatations and irregular heart beats are a serious side effect of the medication. Since your friend has been taking percocet for years, he/she is addicted to the medication. When the medication starts to wear off, he/she is experiencing a withdrawal which can cause heart palpatations and irregular heart beats due to anxiety. Here's a list of side effects and severity: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-7277-Percocet+Oral.aspx?
Avatar f tn Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.
Avatar f tn People who use Percocets illicitly and attempt to do a Percocet detoxification, are at a high risk of severe withdrawal symptoms as they tend to use higher than prescribed doses. The symptoms of Percocet withdrawal are the same as for other opiate based painkillers and may include anxiety, nausea, weakness, flu like symptoms, fever, diarrhea, muscle pain or spasm and lowered blood pressure.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had arthroscopic ACL reconstruction 5 days ago and was initially prescribed Percocet (5 mg oxycodone 325 mg acetaminophen) for pain. Now that my pain has lessened, I only take it at night because it makes me fall asleep almost instantly. Physical therapy is painful and ibuprofen doesn't help much, but I dont want to take percocets during the day so my dr gave me a prescription for 50mg tramadol, which I have never used before.
Avatar m tn The opiates you mentioned, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet all have addictive qualities. They all produce withdrawal symptoms to one degree or another when the medication is stopped. As OtisDaMan said everyone is different. And different ppl with have different experiences with medications as they withdrawal from them. Some ppl have said methadone is the worst withdrawal there is and the very next person will say no methadone wasn't near as bad as tramadol.....and so on.
Avatar f tn Both percocet and tramacet contain acetaminphen, which is Tylenol. Percocet is a combination of Oxycodone/Acetaminophen. Tramacet is also another combo medication containing Tramadol/Acetaminophen. Mostly it is pain medications that you see the "cet" at the end of and all that means is that it contains acetaminphen. Both narcotic and non-narcotic pain medications can contain acetaminophen.

Avatar f tn You know daddysgirl600 and savak, who cares if you're dependent on a medication prescribed by your doctor whether it's a narcotic or not, whether you take it and it makes you feel sleepy, or calm or even loopy. It doesn't necessarily mean you're addicted even medically speaking. Hear is the medical definition of addiction. Habitual psychological and physiological dependence on a substance or practice beyond one's voluntary control.
Avatar m tn Hi there and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry it took so long for someone to reply. It can be slow around here on weekends. Hang in there as I'm sure others will also weigh in. You have been on a fairly high dose of Percs for a long time. You managed to do a very quick taper. I would say that you are still going to experience a few days at least of withdrawal symptoms. The "worst" may not be over. Have you ever gone through this before?
Avatar m tn t need to in order to keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay. I saw my surgeon a 3rd time and told him what I was going through with the Perococet and he gave me this stuff called Roxicet. It didn't do anything for the wrist pain but was effective at killing any of the withdrawal symptoms. I am now completely out of pills and could not sleep last night. I feel like I have a mild case of the flu.
Avatar f tn If anything I need to get my meds lowered or get the doctor to write the Percocet without acetaminophen. They do have Percs without acetaminophen. Being an ex heroin user, I know I am addicted to the pain meds and it will be a fight to get off them but I am determined to do so once I can get my back in better shape. Like I said I am just worried that the Percocet I take now is damaging my liver.

Avatar f tn t know what opiate you are taking but such meds at that contain hydrocodone and acetaminophen like Vicodin, Lortab and Percocet can come with as little as 325 mg per tablet of the acetaminophen. I had hoped for years that they would remove this from hydrocodone as they have from oxycodone but all I've seen is the decreased amounts of it. If possible request that your acetaminophen dose be lowered, it doesn't have to lower the opiate ingredient.
Avatar f tn Percocet is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. Percocet is a brand name and there is no liquid Percocet. There is a liquid version of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen called Roxicet, however. It's not necessarily measured in mg's though. It's measured in ml's in which 5ml contaings 5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of Acetaminophen. Now that I've written all of that...I have to ask..why do you ask?
Avatar f tn People do this or attempt to do it so that they can try to avoid the most severe of the withdrawal symptoms. Once a week or so you drop your dosage a fixed amount until you are at a low daily dose at which point you stop completely. You will still go through withdrawals but they should be milder as you aren't stopping cold turkey. This method works for some while others prefer to just stop cold turkey and go through stronger withdrawals for a shorter period.
Avatar f tn Lastly, the one thing you do want to be careful with is mixing alcohol with the percocet as the acetaminophen combined with alcohol can cause severe liver problems and even liver failure if the two are mixed on a regular basis. I hope your headache gets better soon.
Avatar n tn My doctor changed my script to Percocet without acetaminophen when I told him the Percocet was making me sick to my stomach and vomiting more often than not after taking them.... so far so good!
4787388 tn?1359320789 A person suffering from acetaminophen addiction, on the other hand, may suffer from nausea, anxiety, excessive sweating and other withdrawal symptoms if he or she stops taking the pills. Avatar f tn Is it safe to take 800mg ibuprofen & 650mg Percocet (each pill 325mg) together at once?
Avatar f tn I have been on percocet for 4 or 5 months. It was prescribed for my endometriosis, and then after my hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. I am ready to taper off so that I don't have drastic withdrawls, but I would think at some point in the taper it is better to just cut it off completely so your body can just get rid of the drug. Does too long of a taper make the process worse? I don't want to torture my body any more than I have to.
