Percocet withdrawal medication

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet withdrawal medication

percocet

Avatar f tn Darn doctors.... BuTrans, like Suboxone, will precipitate withdrawal if care is not taken when starting the medication to match up the person's tolerances. There is a ceiling to the effects of buprenorphine; you would get to that maximum effect at a dose of around 2 mg per day (you are now getting about 0.5 mg per day). At the maximum effect-- i.e. at 2 mg per day-- butrans is ABOUT as potent as 60 mg of oxycodone per day.
Avatar m tn I am going to quit taking my medication tomorrow, I have been taking lortab and percocet for 2 years now.The first year I was taking lortab until it didnt work anymore, and I was taking 8-9 a day, then I told the dr. that I needed something stronger,so he gave me percocet 10/325.I was fine only taking about 3-4 a day,but it has progressed to about 6-7a day for almost a year now.
Avatar f tn I have been on a pain mgt program for the last 3+years. I lost all medical coverage in June this year and I'm no longer able to afford my medical treatment/medication or any other for that matter. As a result I'm running out of my medications. The first to go was this past Saturday I ran out of the ms contin. That is the 1st big question. I've taken this medication round the clock for all this time.
Avatar f tn t say how long you were on the percocet for, but if you were on 4 a day then the symptoms of stomach upset, etc may be withdrawal from the percocet! You should definitely contact your doctor and let him know how you are feeling and that you are not getting the relief you were before. Good Luck and keep us updated!!
Avatar n tn Since your friend has been taking percocet for years, he/she is addicted to the medication. When the medication starts to wear off, he/she is experiencing a withdrawal which can cause heart palpatations and irregular heart beats due to anxiety. Here's a list of side effects and severity: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-7277-Percocet+Oral.aspx?drugid=7277&drugname=Percocet+Oral&pagenumber=6 Also, Percocet has a severe potential hazard to your liver.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Tramadol today as a substitute for percocet. This seems to be some confusing medication. The horror stories have made me a bit fearfull. My situation is this; I was addicted to heroin for nearly ten years and had been clean for the last 6 years. About three months ago I was in an auto accident. I have been suffering terrible neck/spine pain since. Immediately after the accident, my orthopaedic doctor put me on percocet.
Avatar f tn Have you always taken your medication as directed? If he thought you were misusing the Percocet, maybe he gave you the T4s thinking it would help you get off the Percocets. I have bad arthritis in a lot of joints. I've been on a lot of narcotics for other pain that came from an unsuccessful surgery. Personally, I don't really think that narcotics are the best way to treat arthritis, at least not on a continuous basis.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had arthroscopic ACL reconstruction 5 days ago and was initially prescribed Percocet (5 mg oxycodone 325 mg acetaminophen) for pain. Now that my pain has lessened, I only take it at night because it makes me fall asleep almost instantly. Physical therapy is painful and ibuprofen doesn't help much, but I dont want to take percocets during the day so my dr gave me a prescription for 50mg tramadol, which I have never used before.
Avatar f tn My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!! By the way, when I stopped the Tramadol completely, I was taking the same amount as you per day. The amount of Fentanyl you are on is stronger than the starting dose of Morphine that I was on when I stopped taking Tramadol.
Avatar f tn It started a little more than a year ago when I first started experiencing acute irritable bowel like symptoms and being in college I did not agree with the symptoms at all and after struggling with my anxiety medication, I turned to percocet. I could do a bump of a 30 mg pill and feel good for 5 hours and now it takes a half. Its kind of scary when I look at the correlations.
Avatar m tn Some medications can cause bladder pain, or pain that feels like a bladder or kidney infection. This has happened to me twice and the pain was awful. My Dr would not believe it was the medication so I had to beg him to be taken off of it. One was a statin and the other was a stomach med. Once I was taken off of the medication the pain stopped. I realize you can't just take your patient of off Percocet or he could have withdrawal.

Avatar m tn The opiates you mentioned, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet all have addictive qualities. They all produce withdrawal symptoms to one degree or another when the medication is stopped. As OtisDaMan said everyone is different. And different ppl with have different experiences with medications as they withdrawal from them. Some ppl have said methadone is the worst withdrawal there is and the very next person will say no methadone wasn't near as bad as tramadol.....and so on.
497143 tn?1209740782 From this link, percocet withdrawals begin 6 - 8 hours after the last dose. It sounds like when he gets out he'll be maybe nearing the 24 hour mark. Symptoms listed here. http://www.addictionwithdrawal.com/percocet.
Avatar f tn I have just weaned off oxycontin ( 90mg./day) but am still taking percocet once or twice a day for pain. I still need it for the pain. I have been having digestive problems so thats way I went off the long acting. Is my body going to get it's energy back and withdraw properly when I'm still taking percocet occassionally or am I just going to continue to feel like **** all the time going in and out of withdrawal????
Avatar f tn i had a problem with prescription medications several years ago, clonazepam, immovane and codeine. i went to a treatment center for almost one month and never touched another pill that i thought i could become addicted to - almost 8 years later, this past December, I fell and broke my hand and was prescribed Percocet by the ER doctor for the pain. I knew I should have refused it, I had never had this medication before, but was well aware of the addiction level of it.
Avatar f tn I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant and have stopped using the medication, I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms for the last 4 days. Day 2 was so bad that I was taken to the ER where they wanted to detox me by putting me on methadone through my entire pregnancy, making it so that I and my baby would both have to withdraw after I give birth. I denied that help and left...It is bad enough for me, I could not let my child go through it.
