Avatar m tn I AM ANOREXIC BUT HAVE BEEN TAKING PERCOCET FOR SEVERE ROTATOR CUFF PAIN. SOME SAY THE PERCOCET CAUSED WEIGHT GAIN. OTHER SAY IT CAUSES WEIGHT LOSE. WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO KNOW WHICH IS THE CASE. WORKS WELL FOR PAIN BUT WON;T BE ABLE TO KEEP TAKING IT IF IT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN.
Avatar f tn There is really no easy way of detoxing from home. I have dealt with hundreds of addicts who have all told me horror stories of doing it by themselves. I would only guess that if are successful in doing it at home you don't end up in my clinic. Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates).
890900 tn?1284577303 ADELPHI, Md. - Government experts say prescription drugs like Vicodin and Percocet that combine a popular painkiller with stronger narcotics should be eliminated because of their role in deadly overdoses. A Food and Drug Administration panel on Tuesday voted 20-17 that prescription drugs that combine acetaminophen with other painkilling ingredients should be pulled off the market.
Avatar f tn i am perscribed percocet. I have taken 2 5/375 mg every 6 hrs but ususlly no more than 6 in a day. I some times only take 4 and once in a while as little as 1 a day. I am 35 weeks pregnant and don't want any issues when i deliver. so my question Is it true stopping completely as in no "tapering off" will send my baby in to shock or me in to pre term labor or be as bad as some NoN doctor people are saying on here?
Avatar f tn Oh I know the fears you have all too well, we all do. No, you won't die. Will not be the most pleasant thing you have ever done in your life to lose these pills, but sooooo worth it. Look up the Thomas recipe and start that to help with w/d's and aid in healing. Do you have some support at home? Life off pills is so much better, you just need to get thru the first few days to see things more clearly. Keep posting and reading the post here. YOU can do this! Support is headed your way.....
Avatar f tn Brain heals pretty slowly, so it may take you as long as a couple of months to get rid of feelings of sluggishness, restlessness and depression. The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs. Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime. You will be feeling better before you know it. Best wishes to you.
Avatar f tn Are you taking the medication with plenty of water and/or food? This medication can be harsh on the stomach and can cause gastric upset. I would hold off on taking them and see what happens. If the stomach issue doesn't resolve, I would definitely consult your physician.
Avatar f tn gatorades, green tea ( theanine on it, will help your mood and to relax), tonic water ( it has quinine and it will help you with RLS ) Hylands restful legs to help you with RLS , hylands cramps legs maybe some natural stuff to help you with sleep like melatonin and valerian root ( good for anxiety too and it helped me with the stomach cramps , imo). lots of hot baths ( with epsom salts if you have them ...
Avatar f tn I'm on day 10 of withdrawling off percocet and I can't stop filling up with this uncomfortable stomach acid... Green and yellow. I've tried Prilosec, tums, and drinking tons of water. What should I do? Also what food do you suggest I try eating?
Avatar m tn I agree with Remar. I got terrible migraines until I got pregnant with my first baby. Then I'd only get them once in a while until I went into menopause and they came back with a vengeance. I think my hormones are leveling out because they're much less now. I know how debilitating they can be. And they are very complex and can sometimes be hard to treat. But narcotics don't usually seem to be the best thing to treat them.
Avatar n tn Percocet contains acetominophen, which can be very toxic to the liver, particularly in doses greater than 4 grams per day (the amount in 8 of the extra-strength percocet tablets). Taking more than that can eventually cause cirrhosis of the liver, a chronic, potentially fatal illness. The greater effects of percocet, however, are on the mind; addiction changes a person, making him emotionally distant, irritable, and basically 'checked out' of relationships.
Avatar f tn now has me on 5 mg percocet. I must be hooked because if I run out 2 or 3 days before refill...I am SICK@@ I have leg jumps...sweats, chills, canot sleep, you name it! I hate this! I have had to turn to people I know and PAY for a few hich is expensive! The 30 mg oxycodone are 30.00 a pill! I have broken them in to and taken them if thats all thats out there. That lasts me until the next day. Those things are addictive! They really take away my pain asap!
Avatar m tn Long story short I am 47 hours into a cold turkey quitting of Percocet...anywhere from 35 to 50 mg a day. I tried tapering but no self control. So here I sit feeling like hell. Fatigue and diarrhea are the worst of it. I was addicted for four years. Can anyone tell me how much longer I will feel like this?
Avatar f tn I have it, I was diagnosed with it in 2009. I seen so many doctors and one doctor would tell me I didn't and another told me I did. I knew something wasn't right when I was younger because I went a lot. There is a difference. IC you have to go, if you don't you hurt. Most doctors misdiagnosed it with Bladder Infection, UTI. Those hurt when you have to go, IC doesn't. For me, they did cystoscopies, hydrodenstion and DMSO which for me neither worked.
Avatar m tn I have herd that there is a kit from the health food store called Opiod detox. Does anyone know if it works???? 4: will I ever feel normal again.. Please someone who has been through this reply. I am so scared.... WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I know it's a rough journey...try not to focus on all the ways you've let people down and try to focus on doing what you have to in order to get your life back. Have you thought about aftercare? The physical is one thing-but if you're not being honest with those closest to you-it's really hard to do this alone...No one does. Know that you are supported here and be proud of how far you've come...Know that the next step is up to you and you can reclaim your life....
Avatar m tn i am starting off taking lithium and percocet and ativan,,,what kind of side effects can i expect...depakote caused me to gain 30 lbs over the last 6 months!! nd it caused hair thinning and loss!
Avatar f tn I told him it would help with the pain I was having and it did. But, I had forgotten all about taking percocet until today. I looked at previous forums, but would like info for myself. I really think it will be a while before I conceive, but the thought scared me a bit on the chance that I could be pregnant. I have been on birth control since my son of 7 years. I was using the IUD, not hormonal one (My doctor removed that a month ago and I was using condoms up till the surgery).
706250 tn?1232453817 If two relieve your pain discuss this with your PCP and he may prescribe you one tablet with 10mg. Be cautious with the Tylenol and do not exceed the recommended daily amount which I beleive is 4 grams. I will look that up later to be sure of the amount. So if Percocet is helping your pain I beleive you can stick with that for awhile. They also make oxycodone without the Tylenol in it. Would you like a list of some other meds that are comparable?
Avatar n tn its a sub-lingual tablet and it reall help \ed me with the night time leg aches. Most pharmacies or health food stores carry it.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine is snorting percocet and she hasn't had any for at least a day. She is starting to go thru withdraw. How long will this last and is there anything I can do to help her get thru it? It kills me inside to stand by and watch her suffer.
Avatar m tn Donna, I have no experience with percocet....I took hydrocodone, but I can tell you that if you are committed...and it sounds like you are...and you have a plan...and sounds like you do....you will beat this. Lots of people here have had percocet addictions and I am sure they will be along to give support, but I just wanted to say welcome to the forum and hang in there. When you need support, post and someone will help you. Post anyway to let us know how you are doing.
Avatar n tn m on percocets and i know that can cause constipation. about 5 yrs ago i had a hernia with a bowel obstruction and had to have emergency surgery. alot of this pain reminds me of that situation. i took milk of magnesia and still haven't gone to the bathroom. i had a fever last night and also had the chills. i was very thirsty also but not sure if it was because i had chinese food and that it was very salty. i feel the urge to go to the bathroom but nothing comes out.
Avatar m tn Make sure you stay hydrated, take immodium for stomach and bathroom issues, take potassium or eat bananas for the RLS and stay as active as possible! Light exercise will really help with the fatigue! Also, High protein shakes will also help with energy! My friend Kyle will be along to also tell you that in order to be successful, you must make sure you have cut all ties to getting your drugs! Make sure you have no access to them! Have you given any thought to some sort of aftercare?
Avatar f tn None of us like to take opiates however most physicians will react negatively when you disregard their orders. Have a chat with him/her on your next appointment and request to come off the Percocet if you are still doing well. Good luck to you.
