Percocet vs valium

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs valium

percocet

I was prescribed Percocet and I received the generic brand Oxycodone W/APAP 5/325 Two weeks later i had a kidney stone and was prescribed Percocet again. This time the generic name was Endocet 7.5/500 Why was it Oxycodone one time and Endocet the next time.
Thankfully there isn't tylenol in the oxycontin, but the tylenol with percs is surely compromising these organs' well being. My very good friend, a percocet abuser, just got off a dialysis machine 2 days ago, for failed liver and kidney function. He is an otherwise healthy 32 year old man. Then there are changes that occur to the brain, that in many cases can be permanent. Some addiction specialists draw the analogy of an addicts brain to a person that has had a stroke.
I have been on Percocet for 4 months for a herniated disk. I was taking half a day, then one a day, then up to 6 a day. Then I started having awful side effects. My back pain got worse, my tongue was swelling some, and had stomach pain too. Then I had my lumbar injection and the pain got worse. I am scared this is an allergic reaction. I had my lumbar steroid injection, and the pain got worse, so my Dr prescribed Tylenol 4.
I am starting to hurt again - have been clean since Friday last, and it's now Wednesday. I feel great emotionally, but my body hurts. We also discussed Valium, but I HATE HATE HATE that stuff and refuse to take it unless I need an MRI. I was told that surgery is not an option and Motrin is not going to cut it, so basically it's "Pick Your Poison" I don't know anything about Darvocet - Please advise and help.
alcohol; narcotic pain medicine; sedatives or tranquilizers (such as Valium); medicine for depression or anxiety; medicine for mental illness (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia); or street drugs. Seizures have occurred in some people taking tramadol.
Getting back to Dependent vs. Addiction, No one with pain ever intends to become an addict do they? Well, unfortunately it happens to just about everyone taking pain meds long term. There is no getting around that. NOW.... How Drug Dependence Becomes Drug Addiction... In my office hangs an Advertising Council public service ad from the late 60’s/early 70’s entitled “Diagram of a Drug Abuser.
I have not tried all pain meds but I had percocet in the ER and that knocked me for a loop. Not a good loop either. I think oxy IS time released percocet and that is probably why it makes me tired. Hydros help me get moving...take my pain and give me a boost so I could clean a closet! Hope this answers your question......guess everyone is different but I have also heard others say the energy thing.......
She use sometimes medication because she got a kidney stone (she takes Percocet) and a month ago she used Valium for like a week because her father died (I dont know WTF she used valium for depression) but for now I just want to have a healthy child... I'm worried of her past life, I dont know if that stays on her body... We eat healthy, and take vitamins most of the days... You think is gonna be aight??? well Bye and thanks!
let me rephase the question a lil more, maybe or maybe not the alcohol does has something to do with it but i doubt it. I also was given a percocet as well and even that doesnt work. the reason why any of these meds havenet been working in my mind is because i have homicidal thoughts as well as my quest to have revenge is so bad that it hurts. i noticed a pattern and it been happening for years.
Listen, don't use percocet to get off Lorcet. Percocet is actually stronger (although it is 5mg of oxycodone vs. 10mg of hydrocodone with the Lorcet). You are better off simply slowly tapering down off the Lorcet. I've done it several times, from a high of 25 Lorcet a day. If you are at 20 a day, if you have enough Lorcet simply go down by 1 per day (spreading it across your normal dose). For example, if you take 5 four times a day, then the first day of the taper take 4.
i was taking 60mg of valium for four years fo only half the month and another non benzo skeletal muscle relaxer the other half. I was fortunate enough to have a RNP that allowed me to design my own treatment, I did this because I did not want to develop a rapid tolerance to the diazepam and to give my brain and body a break to help avoid addiction if I would've been the type. I eventually had to go to a pain clinic but she kept my "benzo program".
As for the Vic vs. Percocet.. honey, I don't know. Maybe one of the ol-timers could chime in here... whether it's better to take you DOC or something different. My guess is.. it doesn't really matter. Both may be tempting to abuse, and you may need help with it. Can ex-H help with dosages if you feel like it is getting out of hand? Also.. one day at a time honey.. don' worry too much, just have a plan in case..
Also, for those of you who have had surgery what muscle relaxant were you given and did DR refill it? I have been on valium and norflex, and it seems to really help the most when I take the valium, is this something that your DR's have refilled for you? Just curious what type of pain relief regimins you guys found the most helpful. I am having alot of trouble sleeping due to the pain, so I was sitting here thinking what all of you do before bed to get the most out of your night.
I'm sorry for not asking above but what is the best time for this forum? I am on the east coast.
I am on Morphine and Percocet but I have heard good things about it as the patch lasts 7 days versus hours. The best of luck to you. I hope you feel better soon. I am sorry to hear about the lack of energy you have now being without the hydrocodone. But you must understand that this side effect of opioids is short lived unless the dose is continually escalated in short periods of time. Even if you would have stayed on hydrocodone, the energy effect would have began to diminsh.
My question is about Fibro medications and wanting to hear from others' experiences during pregnancy w/fibromyalgia (or chronic pain issues). I also NEED encouragement how to taper off of valium (I am down to from 20 mg to 10 mg a day for anxiety & muscle pain, but feel stuck here) I am probably about 3weeks along and happy about it!!
A long time ago when my first husband died in an airplane accident I was given valium for a short time by a doctor friend (all ligit)(sp) then about a month after I had stopped taking them I started having panic attacks and went to a walk-in clinic where the doctor gave me xanax and I felt the same way you are, I didn't feel a thing. I think you are used to how the percs were making you feel and the xanax in best description brings you back to a normal feeling. No real high from it.
I actually asked for something from my doc. He gave me some valium. It has seemed to help. It is definitely the L-Lysine that is the best from the research I have done. The mental ride sucks but I know when I get back to the station to get off, IT IS GOING TO BE THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD. That really got to me, I have to go chill for a little while this shitoi230y48awdrjnoadfsoi;hklj ds is hard.
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2000 and since then, my neurologist has been giving me an almost unlimited supply of Hydrocodone for my "headaches". Up until this past year, it wasnt so bad. I could have a bottle of Hydrocodone - 10/325 mg. and i could make it last me almost a month. I never really considered myself an addict because I could stop taking them at any time and I wouldnt withdraw. This past year has been different.
at home i began taking vicoden 5, 7.5, percocet 5, 7.5, 10/325. it all started with a broken jaw which was wired back crooked and now causes me horrible headaches, my dr faithfully wrote me 150 pills a week. i was tired of not being able to make it to the next dose with out wds so i asked him to help me taper. the farthest i got to was 12 pills from 15.
What withdrawl is worse, Vicodin or Valium? Just having a debate with a friend and we would like to get your opinions.. Thanks..
Endo makes Percocet now. The pill says Percocet right on it and the strength. Endocet is their generic, which they also make, of course...I think it says Endo and 502 or something like that. Dupont doesn't make them anymore. I know when I was doing the percs that I liked the name brand, of course. I also like roxicet and roxilox (roxane's tylox). They seemed no less potent. Endocets sucked, in my opinion. They did seem weaker.
I have also been abusing hydrocodone for 6 months, was also taking Dilaudid and percocets, and a small amount of diazepam (valium). Needless to say, I was a bit nervous as to how this issue. I was simply told that, as long as the drug is legal, I was to bring the bottles with me (showing they were prescribed) and these chemicals would be noted and their presence completely ignored.
When I was young it was adderall to get up and Valium to go down. I have bad back pain and taking meds is the only option. I am better at taking them. There was a point when a 30 day supply would last a week or two. My wife trys to help but I can tell she is getting at her wits end. I want to take my meds as prescribed, but it's so hard. I was wondering if there is anyone out there in the same boat as me. Someone who has the same stuggles. Someone to talk to when I get weak.
i was on 180mgs of oxycontin and 90 mgs of instant release (IR) oxycodone (the stuff in percocet w/o the tylenol) a day for legit pain from an excruciating disease. my very 1st WD symptom is not typical i guess. i get extreme, unbearable, intractable leg pain. and this began happening before i EVER tapered down the drugs. since i took it as prescribed, i maintained the same dose for over a year and i began having these "attacks" when it was even 2 hours before pill time.
i could take my normal dosage and go all day and night..the difference in the roxi you are now taking vs the percocet is that the ROXI'S are pure..not cut such as aspirin or tylenol...so when your taking it its giving you the extra rush at large doses ..which effects the cardio vascular, hearts lungs etc..i use to do the same thing with a good line of coke...or if in the hospital and got morphine in the veins (iv)..i would almost come off the bed at 1st then settle down...
I am so happy, I never thought I could feel this happy again without percocet, although the percocet is also depressing because I always felt guilty being on it, you know what I mean. Anyway life is out there waiting for all of you again and it is awesome like it used to be and almost overnight. Too good to be true? Then try it. This is my experience with it. I figure this suboxone is giving me time to get my head straight and learn to enjoy life again.
I have noticed a few times that my muscles would tighten up in my back more than they have in years but those instances of muscle tighteness are reducing. I also take Valium for pain and muscle spasm. Valium is a very potent muscle relaxer even though its primary use is for anti-anxiety/panic disorder. 5 years ago, I started off on 5 mg at night and as I started to take stronger opioid medications, my doctor reduced the dose to 3 mg.
Yes you can. Why?
did a 3 day bs taper but then slept for most of the last 3 or 4 days on 30- 40 mg. per day of valium....very groggy...but very effective....granted, I'd love to do some more narcs...but I'm feeling ok....a little depressed...but ok. If you go to detox like I did last year...they basically dose you with even more valium along with a clonodine patch (BP medication)...supposed to help....but I was at about the same level...roughly 60-80....sometimes 100 mg. a day...I'm a chewer...
