Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs lortab

percocet

I am 7 months pregnant and I have been on lortab because of a different medical problem. I want to know if it will have any effect on my baby when the baby is born. If there is please tell me what I can do to prevent anything happening to my baby.I take 3-4 pills a day.
I have been on 7.5/500 Hydrocodone (Percocet) daily 1-2 every 4-6 for pain for the last three three months and been averaging 8-10 per day, and was on 10/7.5 Lortab 1 every 6 for pain on and off for a couple of years, but on them regularly (daily) for the last six months and averaged 10-12 per day. I have spent a lot of time reading other peoples Q & A's the last few days and it's been helpful. I drink a lot on them as well and I know it's killer on the liver.
I have been on percocet 10 for about 3 years due to the fact I was in a car wreck.I have pain in my neck, right leg and hip. I want to come off this medication. I take it 5 times a day and sometimes I need it more due to the pain. Cold days and rainy days are the worst. I am on klonipin and ambien due to panic attacks and insomia. I want to know what side effects I can expect if I start taking myself off this medication. I have too busy of a life to stay in bed and try to sleep it off.
its been since april 2007 since i've been using opiates.. i started out messing with lortab 10's (about 2 a day) and now ive kicked it up using percocet 10/325 and im eating about 6-8 a day.. im 24 years old weighing about 110lbs (small guy i know).... it finally kicked me in the face the other day i ran out of percocets for 2 days and i found myself sweating and feeling like ****, i couldnt work and did not have the motivation to do all the things i normally would...
The government says percocet is stronger; hence the triplicate DEA form for the prescription. In my personal experience, I've found Norco (hydrocodone) to be more effective. All percocet did for me was give me constipation and make me parnoid. LOL!
I have been on Percocet for 4 months for a herniated disk. I was taking half a day, then one a day, then up to 6 a day. Then I started having awful side effects. My back pain got worse, my tongue was swelling some, and had stomach pain too. Then I had my lumbar injection and the pain got worse. I am scared this is an allergic reaction. I had my lumbar steroid injection, and the pain got worse, so my Dr prescribed Tylenol 4.
My first bout with narcotics I was addicted to percocet. (after the lortab wouldn't work anymore and i'd had shoulder surgery). Total use was about a year and It was difficult w/d. I went ct when I got off of the percs. My last relapse was on lortab. After using for about 3 months, the wd was very similar, not as intense, but there were many different things too. I had the help of clonidine, and xanax (which i only took 2 times in a week).
I have not tried all pain meds but I had percocet in the ER and that knocked me for a loop. Not a good loop either. I think oxy IS time released percocet and that is probably why it makes me tired. Hydros help me get moving...take my pain and give me a boost so I could clean a closet! Hope this answers your question......guess everyone is different but I have also heard others say the energy thing.......
I have never heard of Norco. Is it a slang word? I looked online and it looks to me like it is vicodin w/asa. Is it like Percocet vs. percodan? What is it like? I dont want to try it or anything, just curious.

When I was around 22 weeks, I got a horrible burn and had to go into the ER. They put me on lortab and steroids for three days. My doctor said it was fine, just to monitor the baby's movements during that time. I'm now just short of 36 weeks and have had to go into L&D every couple of days to be monitored because of a fairly severe case of preeclampsia. The last time I was there, they gave me percocet for my migraine. My doctor was actually the one who gave it to me.
Wondering if cold turkey from hydro (lortab) is easier to quit cold turkey than Oxycodone (percocet)?
, DDD, vs FAcet Disease vs SI disease vs a combination of the three. I think when people hurt their back, and even their neck, but esp their backs, it is diffiucult for DR.s to agree on a diagnosis yet alone treat it. Sometimes you have to suffer for a long time before dr.s will even bother treating you or treat you seriously. Let me know how you are doing and what your story is, I would enjoy hearing from you . Hope you can get the help you need.
Nowadays Methadone is becoming more effective and you only have to take one pill or two vs. 10 of Percocet 5's. Every pain management first appointment is different. I had one the other day as I am not currently working with one just out of hospitals etc.. Anyhow..great appt. I was suffering, and wanted the doctor to see how I am for real off meds ..Even he was suffering. So he shot me five times with steroid fluid for my severe spinal stenosis and my torn labral..etc..and I am a new woman!
A person's metabolism, the last time they used in regards to the test, the route (oral vs IV), and so on and so forth. Pretty much there is a good chance of a test showing the presence of opiates in the system if someone is abusing. If it is still being excreted, it will be a positive result.
I can never hold the ice pack on head long since i get brain freeze lol I was going to ask this questions last night about hot water bottles vs ice packs.
When I was pregnant with my son, I was gven 5mg lortabs in my 2nd trimestor only, and was instructed to take them only when the pain was to the point that I couldn't handle it anymore, and to not take them consistantly (to avoid addiction) She was even sketchy about giving me those. Oxycodone is a lot stronger than a lortab. You can also google oxycodone and pregnancy to find more information. Please do not take any of those untill you speak with your doctor.
Injection vs. Oral or IR VS SR Oxycodone produces more euphoria and a faster onset of action! So, if you compare oral Dilaudid to Oxycodone, without question, Dilaudid(Hydromorphone)IR is less addictive than Oxycodone IR(Percocet). Even correct dosage of Oxycodone produces ''Morphine-like'' Euphoria With that said; Dilaudid(Hydromorphone) is more than twice as potent as Oxycodone and if a person injects Hydromorphone it too is highly addictive!
The first three years consisted of anywhere from 1 to 5 percocet or lortab. I have chronic back pain and recently (8 months ago) went to a pain management doctor. He put me on 4 15mg of Roxicodone and now up to 4 30 mg of roxicodone. The other night i took more than usual and had an extremely bad attack of some kind. First of all I begin to wonder if I had taken too many and then my heart responded by going crazy, got real trembly and weak kneed.
I just had a baby five weeks ago and was on percocet (same as vicodin pretty much) all the way thru. narcotics have very little effect on the fetus. rest assured, you are not harming the baby with the amounts you are taking. the issues about wanting to stop, you'll need to deal with when you are ready, but going c/t ca stess the baby and stress your body. I've posted many times about my experience, so go thru the archives and you';; find all kind of info.
I am on day 2 of trying to get off of 6 years of Lortabs, Oxy, Percocet, and Methadone. It all started 6 years ago when I went to a mental health clinic because I had been feeling extremely depressed and crying for several weeks. They put me on some anti-depressants, xanex, klonopin, and Lortabs, I have been going every month for 6 years and have graduated to Percocet - 125 per month, Oxy - 60 per month, Xanex 90 per month, klonopin 60 per month.
I was taking daily and tried to quit over many times over a period of 4 years, no less than 150 mg's of lortab, 30 to 40 mgs of percocet, and 2 or three 30 mg ms contyns. Also if i could get 8 mg dilaudid i would snort those, during the last few months i was taking as much as 250 mg of lortab, and needed at least 10 just to get out of bed. Habit was costing me around 400 a day, sometimes more. I tried to cold turkey and taper but could never get past 3 days.
It is measured in mcg. vs. mg. It would definitely show in a UA. An EXCELLENT pain reliver. The best I ever had during my experience. I am currently on Buprenorphine to withdraw me. It is working great. Everyone out there that is having a tough time with the drawls, if you can find a doc out there to prescribe a taper with Bup, I've had great luck with it. (I couldn't take methadone). Great job to all who are recovering! Especially you, Bill (bmac) You are doing wonderful.
Like Sherry has said with my age I don't want to start out with hard meds since I have been told this problem wont go away the damage is done and I have to live with it. The stronger med I will take is percocet, I don't want anything stronger then that. When I was on percocet it did wonders for my pain but I could still feel it but I was able to do what I wanted in my life. What do I say if he wants to put me on anything stronger?
I was on 2 80mg and 6 10/325 percocet but I needed to save money so I asked to go to 3. I think I will try what you said and see how it goes.
Having had both, and having a bit of knowledge about the pharmacology of both, MS-Contin is FAR stronger (which is why it is often restricted to use with cancer patients and the like). Oxycontin is simply long acting percocet, a strong painkiller but not in the same league as morphine. BTW, by your posts you seem to imply you are not a drug abuser, yet one has to wonder why a non-drug abuser would ever bite a MS-Contin. The answer is obvious, if it walks like a duck and quacks...
A Food and Drug Administration panel voted this week to pull from the market drugs that contain a combination of narcotics and acetaminophen, including Vicodin and Percocet. The concern is it can cause liver damage when taken in too high of a dose. The worry is obviously those who abuse these drugs and take them in too high of dosages. Doctors say the drugs are safe when taken correctly. So, in other words.
If the Oxy was good she can try percocet or OxyCodone (same drug but not long-acting like OxyContin) in smaller doses to get used to it, and try taking an anti-histamine with it to control the itching. Her doctor can help with this. Good luck.
What are the benefits of detoxing in a hospital setting vs. trying to do it at home? Either way, if you have easy access to the drugs, are you that much cleaner (for lack of a better word) than if you went to a hospital. I know you mentioned about the first 3 days. Are those the worst? HOW DID YOU STAY CLEAN???
