Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs hydromorphone

percocet

So, if you compare oral Dilaudid to Oxycodone, without question, Dilaudid(Hydromorphone)IR is less addictive than Oxycodone IR(Percocet). Even correct dosage of Oxycodone produces ''Morphine-like'' Euphoria With that said; Dilaudid(Hydromorphone) is more than twice as potent as Oxycodone and if a person injects Hydromorphone it too is highly addictive! Oxymorphone seems to be somewhere in between the two...
nausia, my doctor has suggested hydromorphone, 24 mg twice dailly,im not sure of what to do, ive heard conflicting stories about hydromorphone.
Thankfully there isn't tylenol in the oxycontin, but the tylenol with percs is surely compromising these organs' well being. My very good friend, a percocet abuser, just got off a dialysis machine 2 days ago, for failed liver and kidney function. He is an otherwise healthy 32 year old man. Then there are changes that occur to the brain, that in many cases can be permanent. Some addiction specialists draw the analogy of an addicts brain to a person that has had a stroke.
But yes, to answer your question the reason it shows up the same is because oxyxodone is the medicine that is in percocet just without the tylonel.
There is nothing better, nothing more satisfying for a physician than to see a patient succeed. And when it happens over and over again, it is just so fulfilling. When a young lady who looked awful a few months ago comes into our clinic looking like a model, full of energy, vitality and health, there cannot be a better feeling for a doctor.
look into hydromorphone a bit, and if you like what you read, then ask your doctor about hydromorphone (or another opiate that can be taken daily for chronic pain, although make sure it isn't mixed with anything like acetaminophen... so no vicodin, no percocet, etc. because if it is mixed with anything like acetaminophen or another OTC medication then you will get rebound headaches. the nice thing about hydromorphone is that it isn't mixed with anything ever so it's safe for us migraineurs).
For some people oxycodone keeps them up at night, others can take a small amount and feel drowsy. I don't know much about the extended-release hydromorphone, or hydromorphone ER. I've never taken it. I am taking 4 mgs of dilaudid as a substitute for oxycodone 30mg and I don't feel it works very well. I am also slightly more tired on the dilaudid than i was on the oxycodone. Part of my problem is it just never really takes the pain away in a significant amount.
I have used Amerge and Imitrex for my headaches, but often times that doesn't work. My pain doc Rx'd Dilaudid (hydromorphone) for me about 3 months ago for breakthrough migraines. That seems to work well, better than the Imitrex or Amerge, but I have to take 3 of them on average to get rid of the severe headaches. I get severe ones about 6 to 7 times a month and if I don't have enough Dilaudid, I wind up in the ER with all the issues that goes along with that!
I actually stumbled upon this site while using, by doing a search of 'oxycodone VS hydromorphone'.....my drugs of choice. It probably won't take your friend long to realize, that this is a one way ticket to shitsville!!! That realization COULD be the catalyst he needs. I sympathize with your situation, having been through it more than once myself; and clearly he is lucky to have such a caring friend.
I was taking for two wks percocet (oxycocone-acetaminophen 5-325) 2 every 3 hours(5 doses daily) vs opana ER 5mg 1dose 2tms dly which is generally stronger? And how do most people out there like opana?
I have recently been referred to a new pain management doc and he is in the process of adding/switching me over to Kadian for long-acting pain control vs. just the Norco I have been on....my question primarily is how long will it take for me to adjust to the change from short acting opiate to the extended release meds...
Neither embryo-fetal toxicity nor teratogenic effects were observed following administration of DILAUDID at oral doses up to 7 mg/kg/day (41 mg/m 2 ) in rats from day 6 to day 17 of gestation and up to 25 mg/kg/day (315 mg/m 2 ) in rabbits from day 6 to day 20 of gestation. Literature reports of hydromorphone hydrochloride administration to pregnant Syrian hamsters show that DILAUDID is teratogenic at a dose of 20 mg/kg which is 600 times the human dose.
Hello, I'm wondering what oxycontins are and what the difference is between them and percocet. I take percoset and I heard opiates are the hardest to get off of. But earlier you were saying you couldn't get vic's (percoset), and I was wondering how powerful are oxy's if percoset is something that can be weaned off of more easily? I am having a very difficult time tapering myself off of percoset.
I am taking a low dose of Percocet 5-325 3x's a day, for chronic back and neck pain from a MVA. The problem is that even though I take it the way I should, I have had 2 negative drug screens. What can cause this. Please help.
Hey everyone...Im new to all of this and found the site after I googled " how to get clean off of percocet" After reading some of these posts I think this may be a good start cause I surely need to vent and I am crying for help for the 1st time. Here it goes..My names Kristy and Im a serious opiate addict. It started about 2 years ago with a few dental procedures and soo forth. At first I had taken them as precribed and actually didnt even like them much.
I was not a heavy abuser, but I have taken Vicodin-Percocet-Tylenol 3 throughout the pregnancy for migraines and ovarian cysts. It was helpful to read your concerns, I took the medicine sometimes when I wasn't in any pain, I just took it (like you) to feel more comfortable around people. I felt that daily life was easier to deal with on a pill, but the sad fact is that everything comes back time times worse when the pills where off.
To say I am frustrated would be an understatement. After surgery, they sent me home with 20 percocet and then told me to go to tylenol after I used those. I could not take advil until I was off blood thinners then I could use that. I am only 45 and have found that they medicate older patients without a question but because we are younger and at risk for addiction, we suffer. My 85 year olf father in law had his done and said it was a piece of cake.
Dihydrocodeine 30mg..............Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lorcet, etc) 7.5mg.............Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) 37.5µg............Fentanyl (not sure on this one, anyone know the oral dose equivalence for Fentanyl?) 4mg................Levorphanol (Dromoran) 300mg............Meperidine (Demerol) 10-20mg.........Methadone 30-60mg.........Morphine 20mg..............Oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percocet) 10mg..............Oxymorphone (Numorphan) 200-300mg.....Propoxyphene (Darvocet) 150mg............
