Percocet vs dilaudid

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs dilaudid

percocet

Avatar m tn im just curious because percocet has always worked for me, and i need stronger pain meds. so is dilaudid 8mg stronger than percocet 5/325? thanks.
Avatar f tn I just has surgery on my ankle, I was prescribed Percocet 10/325 for pain and dilauded 2 mg for break through pain when the block wore off. I very rarely use opioids for pain management but in this case I did. On the 2nd day the block started to wear off so I took 1 dilaudid, and within 20 minutes I was in much worse pain, it wasn't until 4 hrs later when I was writhing in pain after I took the next dose that I realized my pain was due to the dilaudid.
Avatar n tn And honestly percocet and dilaudid both carry the same risks (although really the biggest risk is the baby being born dependent and since you're only 14wks that's really not an issue unless you continue to have kidney stones throughout the pregnancy like I did with my firstborn). But truly pain medicine under the care of a doctor can be done quite safely. The bigger concern is your kidney function while you're.
Avatar f tn t afford to get discharged over when I did not do anything wrong, I am not abusing my meds, she also gives me dilaudid for BT pain so why would I need percocet? She was going to up my dose to what I used to be on with the methadone, but did not because of this.
Avatar n tn My doctor decided to switch me from 2 10/325 norco 6x per day to one 8mg dilaudid 4 times per day. I am not sure how much stronger the dilaudid is from the dose or norco I was taking, and I do not understand those narcotic equivalancy calculators. Can someone with experience please help me understand how much stronger this medication is? The only other medication I take is xanax .5 twice daily.
Avatar f tn I have heard that people who have been on opiates for long periods of time do not have such a terrible reactions to stronger meds like fentenyl like people who have not taken opiates. I have not tried Oxycontin I started off on norco then went to dilaudid and now percocet with the Butrans patch. The percs work well but they haven't been working as well with BT pain since I started the Butrans patch.
Avatar f tn About 5wks before op Docs started him on Vicodin,no help, went to Darvocet,no help..finally surgery, Percocet and Dilaudid THAT worked. Then home with Percocet only. Worked for a few days..back to ER Doc there gave Dilaudid Pills.Has had good recovery untill now, he has stopped Percocet cut down on Dilaudid....and is quite sick ,nauseated, weak,no appetite, loose stool.....are these withdrawal signs, is it to soon to stop meds?
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anyone has taken narcotics early in pregnancy.. Ie.Percocet/dilaudid. Long story stort, I was diagnosed with kidney stones septemper 18th and found out I was pregnant a week later. The baby was planned but the stones were not, haha. Anyway, after finding out I was pregnant I attempted to stop using the Percocets, but the kidney stone pain was too severe to be controlled by Tylenol Alone and I resorted back to taking Percocet for pain maganement.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question on Vicki's poard and I'm afraid I should have posted where anybody can answer. I have osteoarthritis and had bilateral (both) knees done in August 2007. About 3 wks later I developed MRSA in my R knee. I was put on 8 wks of Vancomycin which is antibiotic of choice for MRSA. I was in a rehab facility and received Physical Therapy post operatively, along with Percocet2 tabs every 3 hrs. I recovered and then attended outpatient therapy.
Avatar n tn Dr switched me from 20mg percocet to hydromorphone 10 mg what is difference
Avatar m tn Someone told me to ask my MD to write for Dilaudid. If Dilaudid does work me (if MD writes for it) what are the chances I will get hooked and take it for the high and not for the pain? How long does Dilaudid stay in your system? What are some side effects that come with taken Dilaudid?
Avatar f tn Hello one and all I am one month out of surgery on my kidney. Saw doctor today and everything is healing as expected doctor offered me more dilaudid since I won't see him for awhile. I asked him to give me something differant since it is not covered by my insurance . So he gave me a script for percocet.
Avatar n tn its been several months and i am still experiencing extreme pain in my sternum and in my ribs-i was on dilaudid 8mg which worked well, but now i lost my health insurance and cant afford the dilaudid. my dr, has been giving me lortabs and or percocet and nothing is seeming to work. what should i do? is there something else i should be taking that would help better?please help!!!
Avatar m tn I broke T12 through L2 transverse processes and fractured my 12th rib all on my left side. ER gave me shots of fentinol, morphine and dilaudid not much help. Sent me home with Percocet it helped the most but still about an 8 pain level but I could move more. Went back to dr for follow up,wanted to give me Tylenol 3 and flexiril. I went back to ER got another shot of dilaudid and a Percocet then had a pain management dr appt next day. Went there here perscribed dilidid and a muscle relaxer.
Avatar m tn u r citing several different narcotics to stop a narcotic u r already on..some even stronger than the one u r on..dilaudid is not absorbed well orally...perhaos stop the IM injections and taper down fron the dilaudid slowly...morphine is another drug that is not absorbed well orally...dilaudid and morphine r usually an IV drug abusers choice vs a pill popper's choice..heroin is the street form of heroin...not a very sought after drug for oral use and neither is dilaudid...
Avatar f tn Dilaudid is very strong and highly addictive. Stop taking it and go back to the ER and ask them for something much weaker. Norco should be adequate.
Avatar f tn Shortly after the surgery, I was switched to Hydromorph Contin for extended release, and Dilaudid for breakthrough because the Oxycontin and Percocet were not sufficient. I was taking the max of percocet, and they could have upped my Oxycontin, but I was open to the change to the stronger meds, and they were VERY successful for me, and had fewer side effects also!
Avatar f tn Started on Vicodin to percocet to dilaudid to morphine back to percocet. I have something called intercranial hypertension and I also havecthecgastric bypass last year so I think I went to it for comfort. I have another question though what can happen to my liver.
Avatar m tn Hello guys, this is my first post though I've read a few threads from this forum while researching my pain management schedule. What I basically want to get information on is the type of medication I should stick with, and strategies to maintain efficacy. I'm relatively young but had a few sports injuries when I was in high school and shortly after.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl is a stonger form of an opioid. Opiate and opioid mean the same thing: Opiate is an adjective while opioid is a noun. Percocet is an opioid as is fentanyl. They are synthetic which means they are man made and not derived from a plant. Good job on getting off the Percocet!
