Avatar f tn Do not take tylenol and he percocet. Percocet is safe I took it with a bunch of my pregnancys. I had kidney stones bad and had to be hospitalized a lot and put on iv pain med but when it was manageable I was on. 1-2 Percocet 5's every 4-6 hrs through out my pregnancys. I only get bad stones while pregnant but my babies were all healthy, well the ones I took the medicine with. If you are in pain take your medicine bonus it help with pregnancy pains...
Avatar f tn I had some time where I was on Percocet with this pregnancy and it was explained to me that its ok as long as its not long term. That it lowers the babies heartbeat. Does your doctor know this is a daily medication for you?
Avatar n tn I was on percocet thru out my pregnancy w/ my 2nd son. I was also concerned about him going thru w/ds after he was born. Most of the info I looked up online back then said it depended on how much u take and how close to birth its in your system. I believe I hadn't take any for about 2 days bfore my son was born & he did not seem to go thru any w/ds @ all. Hope this helps. Try googling the subject and see what u can find.
Avatar n tn The main risk factor is exposing your baby to the opiate. If your baby goes through the pregnancy exposed to the Percocet it will most likely have to withdrawal from it when it is born... is the doctor that is prescribing you the medicine your OB or your family medicine doc? Primary docs treat the patient- OB docs treat the pt AND the baby- so most OB's would recommend you taper off the medicine for the baby's sake.
Avatar f tn I dont know about percocet but i know i was given lortab during my pregnancy.
1535595 tn?1317990033 I can tell you though, that there are many women who require pain medication such as percocet during pregnancy. When taken under a Dr.'s care there is almost always a good outcome. It's when drugs are abused or inproperly used that the problem can begin. When the Dr. and delivering hospital knows, there are steps they can take to help the baby adjust when born. That way women like Brigadiva have healthy and undamaged children. Just make sure you are working with your Dr.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy Category C Animal reproductive studies have not been conducted with PERCOCET. It is also not known whether PERCOCET can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproductive capacity. PERCOCET should not be given to a pregnant woman unless in the judgment of the physician, the potential benefits outweigh the possible hazards. Nonteratogenic Effects Opioids can cross the placental barrier and have the potential to cause neonatal respiratory depression.
1565432 tn?1295252598 After reading all the post about pregnancy and percocet,I am scared sh**less,I've read that u can't take them during ur first trimester but u can during ur second? Why is that? my ob knows I'm taking them but I'm still worried.
Avatar f tn By the way. Percocet , and Vicodin are both a category C. "It is not known whether Percocet is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. " Remember it's important to talk to your doctor if about the medications you're on. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Dear Kme, Was your OB/GYN aware that you were taking Percocet throughout the pregnancy? Are you taking them for pain? You did not make that clear. I would certainly advise you to wean off of the Percocet. 4-3-2-2-1-1. Take a week to do it and then stop. If you are taking Percocet for pain, take Tylenol instead, but no more than directed. Make sure that your OB/GYN is aware that you have been taking Percocet during pregnancy; baby may need extra attention after birth.
Avatar f tn My baby doctor has been prescribing me Hydrocondone for pain during this pregnancy and I was just wondering if anyone else has been prescribed it and if their babies were okay?
Avatar n tn Here's a link for Percocet & pregnancy - http://www.drugs.com/percocet.html. Percocet is category 'c' - little or known studies have been conducted for safety for pregnant women. The best thing to do is ask your dr about it - he's the best person to advise you because he knows your situation - I wish you good luck!
Avatar m tn How long would a newborn have needed to be exposed to percocet during a pregnancy to cause withdrawals after birth? I have a family member who swears up and down she only took the small amount that was prescribed to her for back pain in the last few weeks of her pregnancy. There has been a lot of suspicion about what was really going on with her throughout the pregnancy and she was known to take opiods before getting pregnant. Now the baby has been born and is experiencing withdrawals.
Avatar n tn Percocet is safer during pregnancy. You may want to consider switching to percocet. Also, drink lots and lots of water. This will help you pass the stone sooner and prevent future stones.
Avatar f tn Morphine is stronger than Percocet so I don't see how the morphine didn't help. Every persons body is different so maybe it's the way your body absorbs the meds.
1536087 tn?1292526415 This is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy i did not stop taking any medication i prescribed to prior to finding out. I was taking adderall 30mg. & suboxone 4 mg. Need less to say i miscarried. My problem now is i fear taking suboxone because i feel it is more toxic to the baby then the percocet. Also i am scared to tell the doctors because i dont know what they might do.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 wks PG and have started having bad headaches and migraines. Tylenol isn't working so the Dr. prescribed percocet. I'm a little hesistant to take it but figure my Dr. wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't safe. Has anyone else had this prescribed to them for pain? Did you have any side effects while taking it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anyone has taken narcotics early in pregnancy.. Ie.Percocet/dilaudid. Long story stort, I was diagnosed with kidney stones septemper 18th and found out I was pregnant a week later. The baby was planned but the stones were not, haha. Anyway, after finding out I was pregnant I attempted to stop using the Percocets, but the kidney stone pain was too severe to be controlled by Tylenol Alone and I resorted back to taking Percocet for pain maganement.
Avatar f tn This is the 5th time. Uggh lol I have percocet prior to pregnancy for the same thing. Can I.maybe cut one in half? I am 10 weeks pregnant today. I've heard because im a plus size female its more ok.... HELP? FIRST ITS MIGRAINS NOW KIDNESY....
Avatar n tn Or they may have been taking more than prescribed and just not told anyone. You never know. My sister was prescribed percocet during her pregnancy for a wisdom tooth that was removed. She gave birth to a healthy boy who is nine years old now. Trust your doctor and relay your concerns to him. Other than that, don't worry about it.
Avatar f tn Before I became pregnant I was receiving care from a pain management Dr. From a back injury I sustained from a car accident. I would do back injections combined with being prescribed percocet as part of my treatment. Once I became pregnant, I told my pain management Dr & we both agreed to discontinue treatment during my pregnancy. Everything was fine until about 34 weeks pregnant, when I slipped & fell down about 8 stairs at work.
Avatar f tn As long as you are open and honest with your OB about your medicine, you will not be in trouble. I had to take pain meds during both pregnancies ( i had kidney stones with my daughter and ended up having surgery at 34wks, and with my sonI had a weird neurological reaction to the pregnancy that ended up with me blind and numb in parts of my body but with horrific headaches). both of my children were both VERY healthy and without any sort of withdrawal/addiction issues.
