Percocet pain medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet pain medicine

percocet

Avatar f tn Hydrocodone is NOT percocet. Its still an opiod analgesic but they are very different and Hydrocodone carries more of a risk and you should not breast feed while on it. Percocet is Oxycodone.
Avatar f tn But even percodan and percocet have apap and aspirin in them. But I did need pain relief. So my md wrote for a drug called OPANA its oxymorphone. It is a schedule 2 so most doc's don't want to write for it. But it has nothing else in it. As a pharmacist myself I felt safest taking that. Alittle tylenol is ok but I would have been taking 3 to 4 grams of it and that bad. Mention it to your md, see what he says.
Avatar n tn t overly sensitive, you can probably handle 3 Advil at once. Then after 4-5 hours you could take a different pain medicine like Percocet. When 6 hours is up (or whatever the bottle says), then try the 3 Advil again.
Avatar f tn i am constantly prescribed vicoden and percocet for chronic back pain i dont want to harm my baby but i also am in severe pain everyday... how harmful are these and will they still prescribable to me.
Avatar f tn So norco, percocet an morphine?? Were u on it your whole pregnancy?
Avatar f tn You need to call your Doctor right away and let them know the side effects your experiencing and that the medicine is not really working for you. The percocet is normally used for short term pain relief or as a breakthrough medicine. It only last a few hours and your tolerance builds and you need more and more to have it relieve your pain. I imagine this is why your Doctor switched you to a long acting medication, the morphine.
2110255 tn?1334188549 I have been on percocet every day for about a year and a half now but I have been taking some form of pain medicine for over 6 years now (I have also used Tramadol, Vicodin, and Morphine ER previously). I currently use percocet for breakthrough pain...pain that occurs outside of the control of my long acting opioid medication, Opana ER (12 hour extended release oxymorphone).
1325672 tn?1290084214 He is going to add a long acting medication like oxycontin or MS Contin along with the short acting percocet. It will help your pain a great deal and the long acting medicine can last up to 12 hours on some people. I take a long acting medicine every 8 hours and I take percocet which is a short acting medicine for breakthrough pain.
1527950 tn?1291828884 Hey Guys, I'm assuming that you were put on 50mcg Fentanyl? Please advise. Hang in there. there are ways to get relief without trashing your stomach. Are ya'll both in Pain Management?
Avatar n tn I thought that pain medicine was BAD for your kidneys? I had dozens of bladder infections when I was abusing and when I came clean to my doctor, she said that was why...?
Avatar f tn I only get bad stones while pregnant but my babies were all healthy, well the ones I took the medicine with. If you are in pain take your medicine bonus it help with pregnancy pains...
Avatar m tn the pain medicine I take makes my mind race if I'm on it around the clock. I don't take more than prescribed but I did notice that after I lowered my dose, got off it completely for a few days and then slowly started with 1 dose a day and then 2 where I'm at currently, When I was at the end of that 3 day period it's like my body "reset". I was able to get tired earlier, and able to sleep sounder.
656111 tn?1273820739 I was wondering which do you think I am better off to be on short acting med or long acting med? Because when I take short acting percocet which is 10/650 and I am only allowed to take 2 times a day. But when after I take one, I would say within 3 hours then pain comes back slowly then in real pain and I'd have to wait until its other time to take 2nd pill of percocet. I'm just sick of it. So what do I say or bring this issue up to my primary doctor when I see him on Nov. 25th?
Avatar n tn s really not an issue unless you continue to have kidney stones throughout the pregnancy like I did with my firstborn). But truly pain medicine under the care of a doctor can be done quite safely. The bigger concern is your kidney function while you're. Make sure and report any pain that breaks through the meds, pee that is excessively bloody, or if you aren't peeing as much as usual despite increasing water intake.
Avatar n tn I'm perplexed. I've had 4 back surgeries, permanent nerve damage, torn miniscus in my knee, degenerative disk disease & arthritis in my back/knee/hip etc. I take four 325 per day of oxycodone aka percocet. I've been with my Dr. for 19 years! Today I was told NO medicine at all showed up in my urine. I've never failed a test in almost 20 years.
Avatar m tn So what pain medicine does the doctor usually prescribe for this and how long can I expect to suffer from the pain
Avatar f tn Im new to the forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize. I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot.
Avatar m tn I wanted to respond to your original questions AND I wanted to elaborate on what Tuck said about rebound pain. I've taken norco (10mg hydrocodone/325 tylenol) for over a year and only recently realized what rebound pain was and how serious it could be. Rebound pain can be every bit as bad as your original pain, the difference between that and the original pain is rebound pain goes away within a few days to a couple weeks.
Avatar n tn For one thing the less narcotic pain medicine your on after surgery, the less they will need to control your post surgery pain. I do agree your being under treated for pain management. If you still have horrid untreated pain after surgery, find a different doctor who will help you. I was getting 4 Percocet(5/325mg) a day. The surgery/fusion did not help my pain, but he wouldn't raise my dose. Instead I was getting injection after injection. It was awful.
Avatar n tn Are there any vitamins or minerals that can be taken to assist with percocet withdrawals?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have recently injured my back working out. I deal with the pain in the day time with tylenol but my promary care physician gave me oxycodone/apap 5/325 to take at night as needed when I cant sleep. It works great for the pain, however sometimes when I take it I notice a weird effect. I get a feeling like my hearing will "shift" if you will in one ear. It sounds like everything is being heard through a cone and very quiet but it never lasts for more than one second max.
Avatar n tn Hi, just wondering if anyone had to take any pain meds while pregnant? If so was everything ok with your baby? I have been on pain meds for about 5 years( 6 pills a day) and got pregnant unexpectedly! I also am additicted to the pain meds not out of choice! I wish I would have never ever taken them but needed them from surgery(If i only knew then what I know now). My doctor does prescribe my pain meds and is aware of my pregnancy however Im sure he is not aware of my addition or maybe he is...
1326416 tn?1370927001 I am currently taking percocet as a break through med with morphine sustained release. I didn't have a choice on what I could take for breakthrough medicine. I don't take more than 1950 mg of tylenol per day via the percocet. I think the percocet and the vicodin puts a "cap" on how much a person can take before destroying their liver. My doctor has been very trustworthy of me but always wants me to stay on these combo meds.
Avatar f tn Or maybe it is not the right medicine for your pain. I think on your next appt you should discuss your pain levels with your doc and keep a pain diary so you can show your doc what your pain levels are with your medicines and how much you have to take to get relief. Sorry to hear of your probelms and wish you the best of luck!
Avatar f tn Try taking a percocet then 2-3 hrs later take the motrin an d getting longer intervals in between percocet doses. So instead of taking percocet every 4hrs, try every 6 hrs then every 8. Just start weaning yourself off them instead of cold turkey. I had excision surgery (where they literally cut out the endo and surrounding areas and suspected areas) and also a appendectomy and supracervical hysterectomy 2wks ago tomorrow. I've been off all percocet for about 5 days now.
Avatar n tn Yes. Most people who have the long acting pain medicine also have the short acting pain medicine as well. I take oxycontin along with percocet. I take them both everyday.
Avatar f tn It is just that the oxys are time release. btw, I am sick with a neurological disease but the pain medicine has caused me to lose every friend I ever had in my life, my jobs, my family. It is so weird how that happens and I just didn't seem to care because the pain medicine I guess numbed me out so I really want to try to get sober and I know I will need anti depressants but I am not going to beat myself up because not everything was my fault. blessings all.
