1508881 tn?1313114901 I've switched between norco vicodein, codein, tramadol and percocet when the meds aren't working. All are short acting but after a while on one med it wouldn't work as well so I'd switch. But you could always go to something like Opana ER which lasts much longer. Can't hurt to try something new. If it doesn't work you can always switch back. Right?

Avatar f tn By the way. Percocet , and Vicodin are both a category C. "It is not known whether Percocet is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. " Remember it's important to talk to your doctor if about the medications you're on. Good luck.

Avatar f tn I have been off of tramadol for 15 days, took Percocet for 6 of those days and Norco for 5 of the days.
Avatar f tn A LORTAB is basically Vicodin (hyddrocodone), whereas a PERCOCET is a more natural opiate, also called oxycodone. Because oxy is less synthetic, it tends to be a bit stronger. Both meds contain the opiate (either hydro or oxy) and acetaminophen (tylenol). Both are habit forming when used improperly, or for long periods of time. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I have been takeing one or two norco and it works. I have no problems or sideeffects from it. There are days i may take three but that is the max. My primary dr wanted me to try a pain management dr. He told me I am addicted to norco and i have to switch medications. So he gives me morphine. It is way to strong and i fekt like a zombie. Dr said it was not a side effect of morphine It was me coming off norco. I totally disagreed so he put me on Percocet. I think its to strong to.
Avatar f tn I know how their actions/reactions with you made you feel, because I was there once as well with my PCP that was writing me for Percocet every other week or less. When I approached them about my addiction, they shut the door in my face and left me high and dry with everything. Like you, I thought I deserved it after what I'd done to myself as well as the people around me, etc. However...like avisg stated, nobody walks on water!
656111 tn?1273820739 Also, I have a question. Maybe some of you may notice it.... my doctor has been switching "rotating" Percocet to Norco, then Norco to Percocet.... Is it good idea for doctor to do that? I wonder why does he do that? Both medicine works fine for me except for Norco that has lower apap. Before, it was just 2 times a day, but now its 3 times a day so my pain is tolerable as of right now. So I don't know. Any ideas, whatever?
Avatar n tn t get the Percocet refilled, I went back to Norco ... only now I increased the dosage to get the same effect. I was up to 10-12 a day. Anyway, I've begun a gradual "weaning" since December. It hasn't been easy, and I've had a lot of relapses ... but for the last two and a half weeks, I've gone from ONE Norco a day, to half, and to a quarter. I took my last quarter today (no refills left).
Avatar f tn I have chronic abdominal pain and have been taking time release morphine as well as Norco for pain. Currently I am on 150 mg twice a day of morphine and approx 10 norco's a day. I would like to cut out the norco mainly because I have liver problems on top of everything else and I want to see if stopping the norco could help my organs function better. I have a lot of doctors and am also seeing a few specialists. Is there a safe way to stop taking the norco.
Avatar m tn I had back surgery last year at first I was on percocet which was another hard one to get off and lately its been norco. The more I tell myself nomore I just get a refill and here we go again. I guess I don't want to face the withdrawls cuz they really suck.. I'm one day with no norco today and I've had the sweats and I'm grumpy and runny nose shivers. I'm taking up to 9, 10 a day.
Avatar f tn Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.

Avatar f tn You may want to ask your doctor about taking a longer acting pain medication as norco and percocet have a short half life. You also may be able to find some answers and suggestions on the pain management forum as well!
