I was prescribed percocet once for a kidney infection...I was young and I just thought I had a severe flu w/bad back pain. (sorry for the tmi but no burning when i urinated) So anyhow I ignored it for a week b/c like I said I was young and didn't have insurance finally I was so dehydrated and my back was hurting so bad I was taken to the ER. So they did prescribe the pain rx due to the severity of the pain I was in and how far I let it go.
I was prescribed percocet once i was sent home. Ive had kidney stones for years due to my crohns disease and the best advice i can tell u is to avoid caffeine and sugary drinks all together. Drink water with lemon and cranberry all natural no cocktail. To help eliminate pain, hydrate urself very well it will open up ur ureter easing the passing of the stone making it less painful. If u havent already passed it, chug lots of cranberry natural. Hope things go well for you.
Heart palpatations and irregular heart beats are a serious side effect of the medication. Since your friend has been taking percocet for years, he/she is addicted to the medication. When the medication starts to wear off, he/she is experiencing a withdrawal which can cause heart palpatations and irregular heart beats due to anxiety.

I found the percocet to be 100% more effective than the dilaudid for pain management of kidney stones. even though the dilaudid is stronger...the percocet did much more for my pain...so it might be worth switching to that just on that merit alone :-).
do they have you on a preventative antibiotic? when is your next follow-up?

I've just joined so this is my first post. I have a kidney disease which causes me to pass several kidney stones a month. Not only do I have the pain when passing a stone but due to the disease have constant chronic pain even when not passing a stone. My pain specialist, nephrologist and primary physician have me taking 2-15mg MS Contin and 4-7.5/325mg Percocet daily along with up to 4-50mg Demerol when needed for more severe pain.

The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis.

I would encourage both of you to talk with his endocrinologist about looking into possible changes that can bring his a1c levels well down below 7. That truly is his best protection not only against kidney disease, but against other complications. If sugar levels are maintained at near normal levels, damage cannot happen.
I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?

Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Most days it still feels like my kidney is still there and hurts exactly like it did when I had kidney infections or kidney stones. When I had my surgery they cut me from back ribcage to the front below my bladder so there is a lot of nerves that were severed during the surgery. Most of the time if feels like my kidney is huge and taking up too much space inside and under my ribcage, so the pain is not just right in the nerve endings.
because when the kidney stone I was waiting to pass moved down lower, and I was in such extreme pain, even the Percocet wasn't helping me. I stayed there most of the day, while they controlled my pain and gave me something else that is supposed to help loosen muscles in that area to help the stone pass easier. Just my luck, the stone was 4mm...which the dr I saw said that 4mm is the biggest they let pass naturally, any bigger than that they usually break them up with lasers.
