Hydrocodone is NOT percocet. Its still an opiod analgesic but they are very different and Hydrocodone carries more of a risk and you should not breast feed while on it. Percocet is Oxycodone.
It is good to let someone else hold and dispense your pills too --- Actually Percocet is a stronger drug than Hydrocodone so if you have that it would be better to WD from. The main thing is to set a schedule and a 'quit date' is very important. You can do this -- I started my taper using Hydrocodone after being on Percs for quite a while but then became impatient and switched to Suboxone -- what a mistake that was as I then had horrible W/D's from the Sub for 2 months.
A LORTAB is basically Vicodin (hyddrocodone), whereas a PERCOCET is a more natural opiate, also called oxycodone. Because oxy is less synthetic, it tends to be a bit stronger. Both meds contain the opiate (either hydro or oxy) and acetaminophen (tylenol).
Both are habit forming when used improperly, or for long periods of time.

I regularly take hydrocodone for back pain and thismorning i took my last percocet. My back is hurting badly since its cold and rainy and i was thinking about taking a hydrocodone. The percocet feels like its completely worn off. What would the repercussions be?
My friend takes up to 30 -40mg hydrocodone a day for his back. It's been about three years now. But now he basically relies on taking it and has withdrawl symptoms if he goes two days without it. He has twitches as night, irritability , depression, pain. He really wants to get off of it because he is scared it's Hurting hia health. Which I think it is. What should he do to get off of it. I'm worried sick please help.
I was prescribed percocet for kidney stones in my last pregnancy. My doc said it's bad for you to be in pain because it stresses the baby out. If your ob have it to you and said to take it, just take it when it hurts. You don't want you or baby to become addicted. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
Hydrocodone and percocet are the same thing. Percocet is just stronger. The only worry they have with either of those drugs during pregnancy is that baby will have withdrawals when born. But if the benefits outweigh the risk then I wouldn't be worried.
You should be able to find hydrocodone in India. The alternative would be Percocet which is oxycodone instead of hydrocodone. They both are very similar but the oxycodone is a bit stronger. From what I have read, a 5 mg percocet is equal to a 7.5 mg vicodin.
I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
If its hydrocodone it will be stated as a xx(hydrocodone) - xx (apap/asprin). Doses of tylenol ranged from 325/500/750 and asprin i'm not sure (Assume only 200mg but I have no clue.They come in liquid suspension and tablet form and rarley without a tylenol/asprin additive. I'm taking percocet which is a whole different Active ingrediant. From my experience a lot more dangerous than hydrocodone. Its approx. 1.5x stronger than lortab in analgesia terms.
I take Cymbalta for about12 yrs. I go on and off of hydrocodone. My lift from the depression is better when taking both. I go off of hydrocodone about every two months . So as to avoid addiction. I have noticed that I am depressed when I stop the hydro. Bad depression the kind where you need someone to sit with you for safety. Not taking hydrocodone is extremely difficult because with out it I am in 8-10 on the pain scale. I have had 6 spinal surgeries and I have no hope for any other surgery.
Im new to the forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize. I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot.
I have read that some say hydrocodone works better for their pain than percocet and viceversa. For me, percocet works a lot better for my pain.
Hydrocodone does not come without acetaminophen...yet. There is a drug in development called, Zohydro that would be a long-acting form of hydrocodone without acetaminophen. Clinical trials are underway but the drug won't be on the consumer market until probably early 2014.
00 AM and along with it take a Percocet (Oxycodone) at 10:00 AM the answer is no, it is certainly not recommended. Ask the physician that prescribed both of the meds for you how he/she meant for you to take them.
They are both narcotic pain medications. The percocet is stronger than the Norco. However that doesn't mean that it will work better. Hydrocodone works better for me than Oxycodone.

s not the only safe one... Hydrocodone, Tylenol with codeine and Tramadol are safer to take then Percocet because they aren't as strong. But Percocet isn't bad to take. Narcotics don't get to babies the way people think it does!!
I went from 5-6 hydrocodone 100/325 per day to 15 mg MSContin 2/day for long acting relief with up to 4 100/325 hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. After three months my Fibro pain is deeper and stronger than ever. I don't tolerate "oxy" meds (Percocet) well, so trying oxycodone ER doesn't appeal. Has anyone tried Hysingla ER or Zohydro ER?
Jking is correct....and to answer you question again, no, Morphine does not contain Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol) is the generic name for Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Anexsia, Lorcet, Lorcet Plus, Norco.
