Metabolism.
Food gets converted to calories. Simplistically (leaving out lots of variables), If you burn off less calories than your intake, you gain weight. If you burn off more calories than your intake, you lose weight.
When people exercise/run/treadmill/jumpingjacks, etc., they are trying to burn off more calories than the amount of calories taken in.
i am in the exact same spot as your friend. Stopped cold 60 hours ago and it's not fun, but it's doable. Just have to let ppl know to give you space for 4 days. Not really going to sleep for 3 nights but the 4th day it slacks off (I've been through this before).
Living without the pills is worth it. Especially when you have children.
It is common to wake up with nausea during opiate withdrawal. However, you say you want to get off of percocet too. I'm assuming that you are still taking percocet, are you taking through a doctor as prescriped or off the streets, big difference. And how many are you taking a day??? I know when i was addicted to hydro's and percs my withdrawal would start about 4-6 hours after my last dosage.
I am in a similar boat but I did it for no reason...I got on the pills for fun and it is anything but fun. My advice is to get off as quick as you can. You don't wan't to end up like me and be in this boat 5 years from now. Go to your Doc and tell him your concerns. He can put you on something that isn't as potent and wean you down, you don't sound like an addict so dont turn into one.
I have been trying to get off percocet. It started out bu just taking it here and there. But now I am up to 8-10 a day and Its all I think about. I buy off the strret. My doctor doesn't even know. I spend about 500 a month. I want to stop but just don't know where to begin. i feel so depressed that Ive let myself get addicted and I just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions?
A friend of mine is addicted to percocet and is scared he may lose his job. He has taken 6 percocet 10/650 within 3 days and needs to know how long it will stay in his system? He started taking it on Thursday 1/16/08 and last took one on 1/20/08. Is it still in his system today, which is 1/23/08?
Im new to the forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize. I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot.
I have been on percocet for over 5 years, I have stopped cold turkey. I am now experiencing diarea and I am wondering how long it will take for my body to heal?
I have been taking 4-5 daily.

Hi I had 2 surgeries over the last few months and I was put on percocet 5/325 for 4-5 months now. after this first month I knew I was addicted as I was taking 10-12 a day. At the end I was taking 20-25 pills a day. I ran out and decided I wanted to quit and went into pretty heavy withdrawals no sleeping, eating, etc. I told my doctor what I was going through and he gave me another script so I could use them to taper down on. I have them held for me so I don't have full access to them.
This is my day 3 from percocet withdrawl, and im hanging in there i guess. Bad part is my GF of over a year left me because of it, so needless to say, im depressed and it feels impossible that i will recover. I have zero urges to take the devil pills again but i feel i will never get over this or her. she was the one for me and its over.. any words of advise? she lost the connection for me bc as some of you may or may not know it kills your sex drive and makes you affectionless..
Percocet seem to make me less productive than Lortab....is this common? ...by the way, ive weened down to 3 percs. a day and plan on weening down to 2 1/2 a day next week....... I m going to the see my doc today and im gonna ask for Lortab and contiune my weening on them....OPIINIONS PLEASE..THANKS..
I have been taking percocet for about 2 years now, it started off as doing a 5mg every now and then for fun, then i started snorting them, because i found it didnt upset my stomach that way,..
Dont let it freak you out to bad. It isnt fun but you have to do it. The first day for me was the hardest. It was the breaking the habbit thing that was hard thing to do. Keep your head up. Just remember why your stopping and smile because within days youll be feeling much better.
Hi, im on day 10 detoxing from percocet. 8-12 10mgs pills a day. I tapered down and finally quit. Its the hardest thing ive ever done and it ***** bad for the first 5 days at least for me. Physically and mostly mentally now. Anyway, my runs stopped finally today...dont know if there gone for good but we will see? Anyway, hang in there..it gets better everyday. Im so gratefull I found this site....
I feel sick to my stomach, very dizzy, and I usually end up vomiting or having dry heaves (not fun when you have abdominal stitches for a gallbladder extraction.) They didn't help much with the pain either and I decided the pain was preferable to the side effects of the drugs.
Long story short I am 47 hours into a cold turkey quitting of Percocet...anywhere from 35 to 50 mg a day. I tried tapering but no self control. So here I sit feeling like hell. Fatigue and diarrhea are the worst of it. I was addicted for four years. Can anyone tell me how much longer I will feel like this?
over 2 years heavy mscontin and percocet. day nine and really better starting to have fun. Getting more energy. If it didn't get any better life would be good now. But I can remember the old me and its still getting better.
My boyfriend does percocet...well at one time i believe he was doing a lot each day. He gets them from a friend who has them as a perscription. It is putting a strain in our relationship. He said that he stopped using them and i did notice and he did admit to some withdrawels ...he was VERY irratable. But the withdrawls that i seen sound nothing like anyone is describing. Is there any harm in cold turkey off of percocet? No, generally not at all. Its not fun, but opiate detox will not kill you. **If you have any medical conditions like heart issues or blood pressure issues etc you should really talk to your doctor.**
Generally though, cold turkey off of opiates is safe, but miserable.
Hello. I have been taking about 30 mg of percocet a night for about 2 and a half months. Every now and then I would skip a night. Basically I take 4 7.5 pills between 4-10 pm. If I stop now, would it affect me? Should I taper off or just stop? Is 30 mg a lot or a little of it?

chlonapin is something that helps with anxiety but again, if you can, just taper. if you can get some percocet, which is the same ingredient in oxycontin and just take small small dosages of percocet when you get really sick, that will help with the tapering, but just avoid the oxys as much as possible.. taper off them with some help from percocet. but whatever.. you have some hell to go through but the fact is.. YOU WILL BE OK at the other side. There is a light on the OTHER SIDE.
