Avatar m tn Since you have a headache almost daily, what you have is in all probability not a simple migraine but a chronic daily headache (CDH). This can be the primary type—without any cause. One simple reason for daily headaches with nausea is compression of cervical spinal nerves. Another reason is TMJ, especially if the headache starts with chewing. The third reason could be severe acidity with or without GERD.
Avatar f tn If you can take Excedrin Tension that is safe. Only the tension headache though, not the other types. Also my grandma SWEARS by drinking flat Coke for a headache. Sounds gross I know but it works sometimes. I just drink it not flat does the same thing.
Avatar m tn However, if you feel the headache is clearly related to the Tegretol then I would advise seeing a neurologist specializing in Headache in order to figure out what kind of headache you have. For daily headaches, some patients sometimes use daily over the counter painkillers (Tylenol, Ibuprofen etc) or opiod medications (like Vicodin or Percocet) which causes something called a medication overuse headache.
Avatar n tn Started to have a headache in April after I had a injection in my hip. Thought it might be from the shot, but was told it wasn't. Was advised to go to ER if it continued, which it did. Went to Emergent Care where they gave me a shot of Tramadol which did nothing. So then I had a CT of Brain, which was normal. Told to follow up with neurologist, which I did.He advised it was tension headache. He tried muscle relaxants which did not work.

It really doesn't sound like you have been given a prescription to one which is just plain negligent on the part of your doctors. That could make a tremendous difference for you. If your current doctors aren't prescribing one for you, demand that they do.
17339814 tn?1489798076 org/forums/Migraines--Headaches Are you asking for the definition of a Migraine? Think of Migraines as a severe Headache. Often the two terms are used interchangeably - but there is a difference. Headaches are unpleasant pains in your head that can cause pressure and aching. They can range from mild to moderate pain and usually occur on both sides of your head. However Cluster headaches occur on one side of the head, but aren’t as severe as migraines.

Avatar f tn Hi! I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Yes, the symptoms can be due to tension headaches, migraines or due to spinal nerve compression in the neck or upper back region. So, yes, a cervical and head MRI may help diagnose the cause. Meanwhile do deep breathing exercises, slow neck rotation exercises, apply local pain reliever gel and ask someone to lightly massage you back and neck. Take care!
Avatar m tn since all your investigations are coming postive and no obvious etiology is detected, it is easier to understand that, the symptoms are showing are due to migraine headaches. Avatar n tn I'm very frustrated as I was diagnosed with a Chronic "Tension" headache by a Neuro at an academic hospital. I have exhausted a plethora of meds, obligatory SSRIs & MAOIs, Calcium & Beta Blockers, PT, Traction, Chiro, 4 Cervical Facet Blocks & 1 Radio frequency ablation and nothing has helped.

Avatar f tn I am so relieved to read the above...I thought I was going crazy. I have had a headache for 2 1/2 weeks now and it started as a tension headache with a lot of neck pain and now I am having eye pain, blurred vision, flashy vision, one small gray spot in my vision, pain in temple, dizziness. The only thing that is constant is the blurred vision. I kept looking up symptoms of tension headache and it said noting about the vision stuff which had me freaked out.
Avatar f tn I'm just past 13 weeks and just had my 3rd headache, all of them lasted several days and came on weekends. And made me nauseous enough to throw up, when I haven't had any other nausea or vomiting. This last one started last Friday on a quick flight for a wedding weekend and it lasted almost til the Saturday evening wedding! It was awful and Tylenol does nothing for me. The only thing I can do is take Benedryl to try and sleep it off.
Avatar f tn I have EXACTLY the same thing. For the past month and a half, I have had a headache in the same place every day, started in my forehead and has been on the top of my head ever since. It has made me go to the hospital twice. Nothing helps it but Vicodin! Not even Tylenol Codeine. I had an appointment with my neurologist last Friday and he said he thinks it is a "muscle contraction" headache (tension type headache) but he is sending me for an MRI on Saturday.
5679001 tn?1372219764 Any prolonged use of prescription medicine is not beneficial for your overall health. I understand how its necessary to relieve the pain but your really just masking the problem and whos to say it wont manifest into something more serious later in life?? Having a balanced, health diet can always help with things like this. If your consuming a lot of processed food on a regular basis your body could very likely be in a pro-inflammatory state contributing to headaches.
Avatar f tn I'm very aware about rebound headaches too...so I'm really cautious. and i think it's only appropriate for the certain headache that has tension up my neck, back, and into my head causing headache. I always have the tension, but it doesn't always cause the headaches...at least not daily anymore.
