You are smart to recognize that you've got a problem. For one, NO dental issue should require pain meds for a year. The answer to dental pain is always to fix the problem.
I'm amazed at how many people (addiction issues or not) think they HAVE to have a narcotic after dental work. I've had extensive dental procedures and have never been Rx'ed a narcotic for pain. Motrin and tylenol always keeps me comfortable.

ve been having back pain and insomnia since my surgery 4 months and was prescribed Percocet. My surgeon told me to see a PCP for more Rx and I did. I went to a family practice with 3 doctors and 1 FNP. Two weeks ago, the FNP prescribe me indocin, benadryl, and retin-a(other). None of these medications helped with my back pain and thurday 12/23 I saw the PCP again.
I have recently went back on methadone and was on percocet for pain management but have not taken the percocet I was taking for two weeks. It is two weeks since surgery and I decided to stop taking pain meds as the pain from surgery is getting better. I stopped cold turkey and yesterday had horrible panic attacks.
