Percocet for period pain

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet for period pain

percocet

Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar f tn It is possible that you will have withdrawal symptoms when you quit taking Percocet. Even if it is for short period of time that you take it. Our bodies and minds have long memories. I had been clean for about a year from taking Roxicodone, when I broke my leg and had to have surgery. I had to take pain pills for a little while. I was not taking Roxicodone, but something much milder.
1511199 tn?1292701545 Hey ya'll. I've been clean from Oxys and Percs since December 27, 2010. It's felt soooo wonderful! Yes there are times when I get cravings and times when my body tries to convince me that I'm in pain, but other than that I've been great. ***Warning, TMI & girl talk ahead*** I originally got pain pills for my polycystic ovaries and related pain right before & during my period.
Avatar f tn Your doctor needs to perscribe you a long acting pain medication instead of a short acting medication like percocet so you get better pain control. I understand your pain. Nothing is worse than nerve pain. Hope this helps some what. try to take the reccomended daily dose your doctor perscribes so you dont run out. It also helps to change pain medications every 6 months so you don't build up a tolerance to them. This is documented in research by the top pain specialists.
Avatar m tn I am about to have surgery on my foot Tuesday and am scared nothing will work for pain as I am currently taking 60 milligrams of Methadone daily for maintenance. He was going to prescribe me Percocet but am also afraid he will not give me anything because I'm on a program. If he does, will Percocet even work? What would be a good dosage for me? Can anyone help me here? I truly appreciate your time. Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn I have had severe heartburn/reflux for some time, regardless of medication. After a gastric empty study my doctor decided to put me on liquid Erythromycin three times a day, because apparently I was one percentage away from an "abnormal" emptying time. Because 60mg of Prevacid wasn't helping me, my doctor thought that perhaps slowed emptying could be causing my persistent burning. On top of my heartburn/reflux problem, I also have a history of ovarian cysts.
Avatar n tn I just found out I am pregnant and I've been on Narcotic Pain Meds for a while. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back. Is this harmful the baby? (Methadone Percocepts)??
478811 tn?1208474960 You sound a lot like me. Doing it for the pain and able to cut the dosage down w/o too much problem. For me, I still need it for the pain and RLS. I'm currently taking 1 pill per day in 1/2 dosages. To answer your question about keeping it around the house. I think if you seriously are using it for pain management and none of the over the counter stuff seems to work for you then keeping some around the house is ok.
Avatar n tn Here's a link for Percocet & pregnancy - http://www.drugs.com/percocet.html. Percocet is category 'c' - little or known studies have been conducted for safety for pregnant women. The best thing to do is ask your dr about it - he's the best person to advise you because he knows your situation - I wish you good luck!
Avatar m tn the tylenol in perks is bad for u on a daily basis on your liver/kidneys. but, im not a dr. why not try and talk to your dr about getting on a pain reliever with little to no tylenol that is longer lasting?
Avatar n tn can i take 2 advils and half a percocet for dental pain?
Avatar n tn Percocet is a strong, habit forming, opiate medication. It is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. It should never be used in any other way, for any other reason, unless there was some unusual circumstance that your doctor dictated the usage of Percocet for some other purpose. The BEST thing to do, always, if you're having an issue, or problems with your medications, is to discuss the options with your doctor.
2079321 tn?1333662977 Within 2 months I had taken pain pills for 5 weeks and was fine when I stopped, those nurses were right. Taking pain pills for real pain is far safer than for a recreational high. A few weeks after the tooth pain was gone I had 12 Percocet left and decided to have a few 'fun' weekends getting a little buzzed hear & there and felt some withdrawal after. What a great lesson in how great pain pills are for real pain, and how horrible they are when abused.
Avatar f tn I am strongly against the use of acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) as part of the treatment of long term chronic pain. Vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol #3, Tylenol #4 are OK for short term acute pain from surgeries etc. but using them long term everyday as a regimen for treatment of chronic pain is very damaging to the liver. Opioids alone DO NOT damage internal organs. They are one of the safest medicines out there for pain.
11214965 tn?1416269155 The fentanyl patch is meant for people who have chronic pain and are tolerant to opioids. When the percocet stops working and you need multiple dose escalations, your doctor may suggest changing to a long-active / extended release opioid analgesic, like Duragesic. There's another problem with Percocet -- it contains tylenol, and too much tylenol can stress or even damage your liver.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Percocet regularly for a few years. I will be planning to have a child in about a year and want to know if Percocet has any effects on genes or cells that could cause problems for a fetus to properly develop. Should I have some type of test to determine if nothing is damaged due to the long term use of taking them.
Avatar f tn s some advice. You should be taking the OxyContin for persistent pain and the Percocet for breakthrough pain. Since OxyContin is a 12 hour extended-release formulation of oxycodone it can probably be reduced to just twice daily initially since there's only 24 hours in one day. Of course Percocet is an immediate release formulation of oxycodone and thus has a shorter half-life than the OxyContin. Detoxification from oxycodone depends on your level of pain and your desire to stop taking it.
Avatar f tn The pain is almost unbarable even with percocet 10/325 in my system. The pain meds seem to wear off about an 2 hours after I take them. I just want to know if the pain i am experiencing is normal for my condition.
706250 tn?1232453817 I recently was dx with MS and have chronic pain in back, neck, down both legs and in my head, which is where they dx my MS, I have a large mass in my brain tissue and only difference is my spinal fluid is clear.
Avatar f tn When I was in really bad pain I was taking 2 percocet every 5 hours for pain. So the amount you took should not put you in any danger. Chances are the headache is just a headache and not related to the percocet. If it happens again you may want to talk to your doctor about it. If you are taking pain pills for pain and not to get the high (so staying within your dose limits) you have a very low likelyhood of becoming addicted.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of the uncontrolled pain that you have experiencing. I have been there but now I have control over my pain. I am not pain free and still have flare ups but my life is no longer in bondage to pain. My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve.
Avatar m tn So over the course of 2 days, I took 4 halves of Percocet. I cut them and half and took one in the morning and one at night for two days. Since then my chest and stomach have had a pulsing feeling of a sharp kind of hot pain. This pulse happens about once every minute or so.
Avatar f tn So yes i want off i dont know if it helps with the pain or not i only tried the percocet for 1 week and told dr forget this i dont want to rely on these and need more and more. But now i think thats exactly whats happened when i started the suboxone.. Yes its the same dr. I ave only ever had 1 dr..
Avatar m tn The biggest thing for me was those first couple days where I had rebound pain, it made it seem like my pain was so much worse than it actually was. I can get up, pick my kids up physically and play with them (still babies but the lifting has been a problem for me for a long time) without making my pain get out of control. Also~ Ambien has a rebound effect as well, it's in the side effects warning.
Avatar f tn I have recently went back on methadone and was on percocet for pain management but have not taken the percocet I was taking for two weeks. I recently went in for my refill at the pain clinic and tested positive for percocet and honestly have not taken it in over 2 weeks and it was prescribed before the pain clinic. I told my PM Dr this and she said it cold be a false positive so is sending it into the lab and if it comes back I had percocet in my system, I will be discharged, and It has me mad!
2030686 tn?1351688548 pain meds that are available that will work even if you are on percocet for your every day pain.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am looking for any advice you may have. I injured my tailbone this past Jan 2020. I went to the Urgent Care the following day and the xray showed no injury. I later had another xray and MRI done at a hospital this past June, and the MRI showed a healed fracture. The orthopedic dr said there was nothing he could do for me and was unwilling to prescribe pain meds. They did a steroid injection which did not help.
