Percocet for cancer pain

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet for cancer pain

percocet

Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar f tn m looking for something other than Vicodin, Percocet and Neurontin (3600 mg/day) to use for pain. The Vicodin works a little bit, as does the Percocet. The Neurontin also works a little bit and again, am looking for one pain RX that would work for all instead of taking more than one. Have a friend on the Fentanyl patch and she swears by it. Says it is much better at pain relief than the Percocet or Vicodin and she's not on Neurontin. Please help.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 06, I have been taking percocet 10/325 for bone pain since then. I started out at 3x daily now I'm taking between 8-10 a day. I recently talked to my doctor about switching me to davocet because I had taken that years ago for back surgery and I stopped it with no problems. My problem with the percocet is that I have to take it everyday whether I need it for pain or not, the withdrawals are there.
Avatar f tn A week ago I had surgery to remove the lymph nodes (surgery went well and I was sent home). Now I am on percocet for the pain. I have been able to reduce my doses and think I will be completely off in a couple of days. My doctor said after the surgery, I could start trying to conceive. I was so excited because I have been wanting a baby for about 6 years and my doctors had told me to hold off for a while.
Avatar f tn I think I mighty have an ovarian cyst, I have right sided pelvis pain on & off for ages now, feel bloated, & my stomach hurts when I open my Bowles : ( have been to Drs they ran some blood tests they came bk clear.
Avatar m tn I am about to have surgery on my foot Tuesday and am scared nothing will work for pain as I am currently taking 60 milligrams of Methadone daily for maintenance. He was going to prescribe me Percocet but am also afraid he will not give me anything because I'm on a program. If he does, will Percocet even work? What would be a good dosage for me? Can anyone help me here? I truly appreciate your time. Thanks a bunch!
Avatar n tn If all you have are Percocet, you might want to try to save one here and there for days when your pain is really severe. Then if necessary, you could cut it in half or even quarters (ONLY IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDS) , if you need a bit more pain relief. The key is taking as little additional med as necessary to take the edge off the severe pain.
Avatar f tn Thanks! I've been diagnosed for 6 years now, and think I'm on about all I can be for spasms & nerve pain & pain in general (Lyrica max dose so I can still walk, Baclofen near max & Oxycontin and then there is the backup Percocet for the bad pain. Not to mention the meds for my intestinal non-working well issues & severe fatigue at time....just to name some.
1565432 tn?1295252598 Percocet seems really strong to use just for cramping, especially at just 7 weeks. You should try to avoid any medicines in the first trimester, just to be on the safe side. This is because babies major developments happen in the first trimester and medicines can cause unwanted effects. I doubt you've done much damage if any, but unless you're in utter agony (which would in itself represent something more serious) you probably wouldn't need them.
Avatar m tn Annother Question, Will Percocet 10/650 make the pain less than Percocet 10/325 , Also will the 10/650 make you more sleepy or tired , I really than everyone for all the help and for Replying
Avatar n tn can i take 2 advils and half a percocet for dental pain?
Avatar n tn Percocet is a strong, habit forming, opiate medication. It is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. It should never be used in any other way, for any other reason, unless there was some unusual circumstance that your doctor dictated the usage of Percocet for some other purpose. The BEST thing to do, always, if you're having an issue, or problems with your medications, is to discuss the options with your doctor.

Avatar f tn I was having bad pain from some chronic female issue and started taking 1-2 Percocet 10/325 per day about two week ago. I saw my ob/gyn for bleeding in between cycles and the hemmoraging I have had during cycles. Tomorrow I am scheduled for a 15-20 minute D&C and hysteroscopy and biopsy under general anesthesia. I took one Percocet this morning. If I do not take anymore today and none tomorrow, do I still need to tell anesthesiologist? I am freaking out.
2079321 tn?1333662977 Within 2 months I had taken pain pills for 5 weeks and was fine when I stopped, those nurses were right. Taking pain pills for real pain is far safer than for a recreational high. A few weeks after the tooth pain was gone I had 12 Percocet left and decided to have a few 'fun' weekends getting a little buzzed hear & there and felt some withdrawal after. What a great lesson in how great pain pills are for real pain, and how horrible they are when abused.
Avatar m tn My left testicle has been hurting pretty much all day, but it hasn't been as bad the last few hours. This has been a reoccuring problem for the last 2 - 3 months. It will hurt for a day or 2 then feel completly fine for a few weeks. I don't wear tight underwear, and i haven't had any injuries to it. I aslo haven't had any sexual relations of any kind for about 2 months. The pain is always in the left testicle. Can you think of anything that could be causing me this discomfort?
Avatar f tn As the aging process takes a hold of you it gets easier to live with pain, by taking medication, BUT it also makes you not have any tolerance for pain when you take that much. Maybe you can have him come read the forum. AND WELCOME to the forum and you are great for helping him!
941625 tn?1263581782 Hi all! I am two years out from chemo and radiation for stage three endometrial cancer (possibly considered stage one endo and stage one ovarian since my metastize was found on the ovaries). I did six rounds of chemo and 33 radiation treatments. I have had chronic and horrible lower back pain ever since. I have been seeing a rheumatologist for this, and he found some arthritis and fused vertebraes.
Avatar m tn My daughter is receiving chemo for ovarian cancer. Yesterday, 5 days after her latest chemo treatment her temperature went up 3 degrees above normal and again this morning. But her temp returns to normal after taking pain medication. Is the pain medication only masking an infection?
558096 tn?1255887002 Doctors now frequently also prescribe methodone for pain. For real chronic pain, i also find percocet useless because it is way too short acting, like three hours?
11214965 tn?1416269155 The fentanyl patch is meant for people who have chronic pain and are tolerant to opioids. When the percocet stops working and you need multiple dose escalations, your doctor may suggest changing to a long-active / extended release opioid analgesic, like Duragesic. There's another problem with Percocet -- it contains tylenol, and too much tylenol can stress or even damage your liver.
Avatar m tn I am a huge advocate for anti-opiates for chronic pain. They work for acute pain, pre and post surgery, for broken bones, etc. They do not work for neuropathic chronic pain. You may think your fibro is flaring but it could just be the residual pain of detox. Opiate use over time causes hyperalgesia meaning the opiates create more pain receptors making you feel more pain. Give yourself some time and tell your doc you want to explore non-narcotic holistic ways of managing your pain.

Avatar m tn So over the course of 2 days, I took 4 halves of Percocet. I cut them and half and took one in the morning and one at night for two days. Since then my chest and stomach have had a pulsing feeling of a sharp kind of hot pain. This pulse happens about once every minute or so.
