Common Questions and Answers about Percocet drug class

percocet

I am going to pharmacy school. Percocet and Norco are VERY different. Percocet- Is a schedule II drug and is in the same class as morphine, adderall, cocaine, and fentnyl. It is kept locked up in retail pharmacies and is only allowed to be unlocked by a pharmacist. Percocet is oxycodone and acetominipen (tylonol).
i pass meds for a living and they said in class that percocet is stronger than hydro however other than oxycontin i have never felt what i feel on the hydros.
I am trying to take only 10 percocet a day and survive. WHat does 10 percocet equate to in terms of ES vicodin? I am having some pretty nasty nausea at night and heart palpitations and nausea dizzyness. I have cut down overnight from 14 to 15 pills daily to 10 pills daily and it is causing me some of the nastiest withdrawal I have ever had yet from it. I think I tried to taper off to quick, but in the past I have never had to taper like this.
Xanax is a class D drug which is harmful to the baby. I was on xanax too and stopped taking them when I was informed by my dr. of the risks. I have been a long time sufferer of severe anxiety disorders and have relatively been able to cope without. If I can go with out them anyone can:}The percocet is not as dangerous if taken properly.
I have constant severe pain in the lower right hand side of . I have been taking 1 percocet pretty much everyday in the afternoon (I can't take it during the day because I work) for almost 3 months. I go to a pain clinc where they put me on Neurontin which makes me too tired to work and tried Bio feedback which didn't work for me. The Percocet helps the pain but I feel I am addicted.
I HAVE BEEN TAKING PERCOCET FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW, EVERYDAY! IT STARTED FOR BACK PROBLEMS AND THE AMT. I WAS TAKING WAS OKAY IN THE BEGINNING, THEN I STARTED TAKING MORE AND MORE THAN I SHOULD. IT IS NOW TO THE POINT WHEN I DON'T HAVE ANY LEFT, I AM RUNNING AROUND WORRYING ABOUT WHERE I CAN GET MORE, I AM EVEN GOING IN DEBT FROM BUYING THEM OFF THE STREET. I AM SCARED AND DON'T WANT TO BE IN PAIN ALWAYS, BUT, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO COME OFF THEM WITHOUT HAVING HEART FAILURE OR WHATEVER.
htm Pregnancy Teratogenic Effects Pregnancy Category C Animal reproductive studies have not been conducted with PERCOCET. It is also not known whether PERCOCET can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproductive capacity. PERCOCET should not be given to a pregnant woman unless in the judgment of the physician, the potential benefits outweigh the possible hazards.
I know any drug I will have to take will have addiction effects just as the percocet I am on now,but I can control how much I take.I have that power at least.I don't feel the need to get high,at times if I have to take an extra one, yes,I can feel a buzz, but I also know it will be some time before I have to take another. Two 10s when I get the kids off to school will get me close to bedtime so I can sleep without my damn knee keeping me up.
the percs are the stronger of the two. Oxycodone is in the same class of narcotics as morphine. Hydrocodone is in the same class as codeine. Oxycodone is the active ingrediant in OxyContin. They can be both quite addictive, with the withdrawal from oxy said to be somewhat worse than from hydro. If you have real migraines, I know there are a lot of migraine-specific non-narcotic drugs that are quite effective.
Just under 3 years ago, I was in a terrible car accident that left me couch ridden for 3 months w/ internal injuries and severe back issues. I was prescribed percocet among many other meds. The percocet was one that sticked. I took them at first for the pain, but all the while, it just took the hurt away from the thought of almost dying in the car crash then to numbing all of life's downfalls. I liked how they made me feel.
after 1 month I was down to 4 or so a day, after 7 weeks I was taking one at bedtime to sleep, that's about the time that I started to enjoy the high off the drug, and started taking them more frequently, got to the point where last weekend I took 8 on Saturday. I said to myself "to hell with this" and now am on day 3 without any. I find that I'm trying to make excuses to take one more....but I don't think so! Anyway good luck to you all and to me too.
She has been seeing him for 3 months. He is addicted to percocet. Apparently this began when he was young and it was prescribed for pain. He crushes and snorts them. I'm totally baffled by this relationship because she is a "good kid". Don't laugh. She truly is. We were always very close and open with each other.
I read on the Internet that Paxil (or any SSRI drug) can cause a spike in blood pressure and possibly a stroke when mixed with Methadone. My doctor is now recommending Effexor in place of Paxil. Isn't Effexor also an SSRI? and to your knowledge, does it pose significant risk(s) when taken with Methadone? If so, is there an anti-depressant that can be safely used with Methadone?
So I went back to my pain doctor and he have me a new script for percocet. I don't have oxy's anymore. I am just taking Percocet 10/325, 3 times per day. I will taper those down as suggested. I'll also look up the apple cider vinegar cleanse and Thomas Recipe. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks you guys, tho there's more to the story... IF you're intersted, I intend to post Day 0 thru today next... A cousin of mine suggested writing a journal, with my TRUE thoughts... I like to wirte ocassionally, though I've never written a journal per say, so I have... < Soon to come. I must say, though I have built myself a strong moral support group of friends & fmaily, it's not the same as talking with strangers who know exactly what I'm going through.
http://www.14wfie.com/story/13854384/ky KY bill wants drug testing for welfare recipients Posted by Rachel Folz - email FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky lawmaker has proposed a bill that would require random drug testing for adults who get food stamps, Medicaid or other state assistance. Under the bill filed by state Rep. Lonnie Napier, R-Lancaster, those who fail the drug test would lose their benefits. They could get it back by passing a drug test at a later date determined by the state.
but how do you fix both problems?, well you use your will to dipense with the anger, get rid of it,no good. The Drug problem is difficult as you have given no specifics, but did the anger preceed it?, where you always angry?, has the anger any relationship to the drug problem other than that it occured as a response to it?. This is a start at least.
Percocet (aka) oxycodone is actually class B and is the ONLY pain meds that have not show and birth defects...while every other single one has...isnt that weird?? Even hydrocodone and codine which arent as strong are class C and have shown to be harmful...bizzare!!
Percocet is a drug that is used to treat pain and contains Tylenol mixed with a narcotic agent. Xanax is in the class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Xanax is a sedative like valium. It is used by some also to help with muscle spasms. What you need to make sure is that your treating physician is aware that you take Xanax on a chronic basis. Both drugs are capable of making one sleepy or somnolent and can effect one’s respiration—the reason why they should not be taken together.
Norco contains tylenol and hydrocodone (another form of vicodin but with less tylenol. Percocet con tains oxycodone. You didn't state the milligrams of either drug. But you can easily (even under a Dr.s supervisision) develop a physical addiction to either...I currently have a Rx for 5 mg norco, was being prescribed 10mg but they were making me too tired and NO i wasn't abusing them. personally, I think Percocet is a stronger, higher class narcotic.
I have NEVER used amphetamines, Percocet was my drug of choice. I am also taking wellbutrin, robitussin, vicks inhaler, and vistaril. I researched and found that the wellbutrin can cause a false positive as well as the robitussn and vicks. My dr flat refused a refill and now I'm terrified I will withdrawal and put this baby in jeopardy. He sent off for a more thorough drug screen but told me it would be 3 days.
percocet made from the opiate in oxycodone are a class 2 drug, not only are they stronger but they are harder to get from a dr. Because the DEA is always watching anything with oxycodone in it, Especially Oxycontin, They do last longer a dose of perc can last from 6-8hrs that is a 5mg dose. Vicodin, lorcet, lortab, norco, vary in strengh from 2.5mg up to 12.5, A 7.5mg vicoprofen which means it cut with ibuprofen and not tylenol like all the others are cut with tylenol.
Mostly prescription opiates. I got off those but took up a stimulant drug, Nuvigil. (I have major depression, no energy, feel lethargic and apathetic, so it was easy to get my dr. to prescribe stimulants.)I'd gotten off this drug but now, six weeks later, was still extremely lethargic and apathetic. Today I got desperate to feel at least decent and relapsed. I only took 2/3 pill but there are more available for tomorrow. I don't really want to do this.
I agree with Flickan. When taking percocet your body stops producing the natural drug to relieve pain, hense why so many people have issues coming off of it. I would see if you can get some type of physical therapy or nerve blocking medication.. something or anything that would have less affect. Actupuncture? I'm not sure what the options really are but Class B doesn't mean it's safe for pregnancy -- that would be a Class A drug.
An opiate is any drug derived from the opium poppy (a flower), and synthetic opiates, while not derived from opium poppy, have similar actions to pure opiates.
5mgs) I have been taking it pretty much every day to alieve back pain when sitting in long class sessions but also as I used to as a recreational drug. After many visits to my doc requesting more focalin he has scheduled me to meet with a psychiatrist to legitimatly diagnose me for ADD (this is in a week or so). As of right now despite my back pain I have realised I am addicted to the opiat (percocet) and the CNS (focalin). The problem is I am also a smoker and possibly an alcoholic.
Xanax is a Class D drug which means it has been shown that it can have an adverse effect on developing baby - you really need to do a risk-benefit analysis but typically, any Class D medication should be avoided during pregnancy. Ask your doctor about Vistaril - this is a much safer drug that can help w/ anxiety/panic/sleeplessness during pregnancy and would be preferable to Xanax. There are also antidepressants that might be useful to help with some of your symptoms during pregnancy.
You may be intolerant to codeine and therefore any drug that has a derivative of it such as Vicodin, Percocet, morpine, etc you would not be able to take. Other classes of pain medication such as Tylenol, Motrin, meperidine, or fentanyl may be options for you.
There are no adequate studies on codeine and pregnancy, however, there are no reported side effects. It's a Class C drug. If you take it regularly and close to delivery there is a chance the baby might be born with a slight addiction (depending on how much you use) but that is easily treated as well if they know about it.
