If you husband has a narcotic addiction that would include codeine. However his drug of choice is probably percocet (oxycodone). Codeine is not nearly as strong as oxycodone and I assume his PCP is aware of his problems with oxycodone. Indeed it would take many codeine to compare to one oxycodone. His PCP may have prescribed him only enough for several days. If his physician felt he required the drug for pain he may be cutting him some slack.
I’m in the UK and a number of times when reading posts have wondered what certain drugs are in the US as they are all called different things in the UK. What exactly is Vicodin, Percocet etc? We have codeine phosphate here which contain 30mg of codeine each. When I see people talk about 5’s and 10’s etc, are they talking about pills with 5mg or 10mg of codeine in or is it completely different?
t think much about because i know i only take the medication he gives me which are hydrocodone10 and gabapentin and tizanidine well when he came back in the room he ask me when I took my last pain pill and if I had been taking percocet and trading my pills for them. I told him no he said well your drug test came back positive for percocet and no hydrocodone in your urine. He said he was sending off and results would be back in a week.

You sound like you're on the fence about whether or not to make a commitment to stop this terrible tapering cycle you're caught in. You've got a lot to live for, my friend & we're never guaranteed another go-round. I've lost a lot of friends to drugs & sometimes wonder why I survived.

I have been on 4-10mg. percocet for 5 months and about 5 days ago I decided I was sick of taking the meds and spending the money so I drastically cut them to where I am only on 1 1/2 pill a day. Yes, I have had withdrawal
symptons but I am determined to quit this vicious cycle. Has anyone had a similar experience. I also take a 10 mg. valium a day.

the reason your doc might not prescribe oxycontin might be because of the widespread abuse of oxycontin. people who abuse oxycodone prefer oxycontin because it does not have the anti-inflammitory in it(so they can take more w/o ruining the stomach).
opana is more expensive as just as abused(however it isn't as popular to prescribe, there is less of it around so it doesn't get noticed the way oxycontin does).
2 major back surgeries, and still in pain. Doctor gave me Kadian to help with pain. Does anyone know if I can quit taking percocet and loritab cold turkey while on kadian? Will I still go through withdrawl? Have begun tapering off...or so I am telling my husband. I want to quit the daily abuse and just take one pill. The kadian has eliminated a lot of the pain. I feel better, but want to stop with the other meds.
If my wife had given me free room and board, let me be as mean to her as I wanted, and there were no consequences to my drug abuse, I would be dead today. You can ask around here, I am not a bad person or of low moral character, I am an addict. When people say you are enabling your man, it means you are part of his problem. He may blame you, and he may be partially right, because he wouldn't be able to afford as many drugs or have good enough health to get as high as he does without you.
