Common Questions and Answers about Percocet and pregnancy medication

percocet

Avatar n tn Percocet is safer during pregnancy. You may want to consider switching to percocet. Also, drink lots and lots of water. This will help you pass the stone sooner and prevent future stones.
Avatar f tn I had some time where I was on Percocet with this pregnancy and it was explained to me that its ok as long as its not long term. That it lowers the babies heartbeat. Does your doctor know this is a daily medication for you?
Avatar n tn I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia and have seen a number of different specialists and tried lyrica, cymbalta and lots of different medications before my pain management doctor put me on Percocet. It is the only thing that helps me function everyday. I am now pregnant. My pain management doctor refused to continue to prescribe it to me even though I have been on it for almost 2 years now. She told me to take tylenol which doesn't come close to helping with the pain.
Avatar f tn Please anyone i need help and answers i am scared please can someone tell me what is going to happen to my baby i have been stuck on pain medication vicoden and percet first it was for my back and migrains doctor gave mr tylenol 3 it didnt work well so i went back to my vicoden and percocet so someone please tell me my baby is still going to be normal and healthy and let me know what you have been on in pregnancy or if anyone is in the same spot or has been and how much u were taking i am scared
Avatar n tn yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...
1535595 tn?1317990033 I can tell you though, that there are many women who require pain medication such as percocet during pregnancy. When taken under a Dr.'s care there is almost always a good outcome. It's when drugs are abused or inproperly used that the problem can begin. When the Dr. and delivering hospital knows, there are steps they can take to help the baby adjust when born. That way women like Brigadiva have healthy and undamaged children. Just make sure you are working with your Dr.
Avatar f tn I will be planning to have a child in about a year and want to know if Percocet has any effects on genes or cells that could cause problems for a fetus to properly develop. Should I have some type of test to determine if nothing is damaged due to the long term use of taking them.
Avatar f tn By the way. Percocet , and Vicodin are both a category C. "It is not known whether Percocet is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. " Remember it's important to talk to your doctor if about the medications you're on. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If you taper the medication, you can reduce the intensity of withdrawl symptoms that both you and baby experience, and still reach your goal of stopping the medication before the baby is born. You might want to consider looking up a doctor who prescribes Suboxone to see if that person could help you, OR any addiction treatment center would be capable of helping you too. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I have 3 children and we are considering a fourth in the next year and a half. With each pregnancy, my abdomen has become more stretched and I'm left with an "overhang" or an "apron" of tissue no matter how many toning exercises I do. My first question, and I'm pretty sure I know what the answer will be, do insurance companies generally pay anything for the procedure and if not, what is the average cost?
Avatar f tn For the record, I do not get any euphoria symptoms as the meds are too busy fighting the pain, and I do not abuse my medication. After approximately 6 years on the Percocet, it is time to go up a notch. Thanks so much for your feedback.
Avatar f tn Im almost 7 weeks pregnant for my first time and Im still really unsure of what im not suppose to use anymore. I usually take mucsle relaxers for my back pain... Is the not a good idea?
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar n tn I have a genetic disease and just had a baby (she is 2 months old now) and I was on narcotic pain medication for my whole pregnancy. I met with a lot of doctors had a lot of monitoring and even considered being in agony my whole pregnancy if it was better for the baby. The truth is that the pain would stress out the baby while the medication would not harm her. She is perfectly healthy!
Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin, lortab, and percocet (not all at once) throughout my pregnancy with the supervision of my Dr. for a very painful neurological disorder. My Dr's have told me that their only concern is that if we cannot get me off these pills (by weaning) by the time that the baby is born that the baby could face withdrawls.
Avatar f tn My husband and i have recently decided to try and get pregnant and were both very excited however i had hip surgery a year ago and because of this i have extremely bad back pain and take percocet because of it, is it safe to take percocet while trying to conceive, and will it lessen my chances?
Avatar f tn Do not take tylenol and he percocet. Percocet is safe I took it with a bunch of my pregnancys. I had kidney stones bad and had to be hospitalized a lot and put on iv pain med but when it was manageable I was on. 1-2 Percocet 5's every 4-6 hrs through out my pregnancys. I only get bad stones while pregnant but my babies were all healthy, well the ones I took the medicine with. If you are in pain take your medicine bonus it help with pregnancy pains...
699217 tn?1323438700 Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
Avatar n tn hello: 5 months ago my mother 52 years old had a breast mastectomy ,gladly she needed no chemeoterapy nor radioterapy.. she has a lupus systemic followed by a shurgen she takes for it salargen.. about the cancer she's only taken percocet and eltarol as pain releases. The mastectomy is followed by a reconsrtuction with a salt water ballon which is filled each month, the treatment is going very well ,however she had an hormonal change i'm not quite sure why.
Avatar n tn t think cold turkey would be good for you), and your babies. Congrats on your pregnancy, and I wish you a healthy and happy 6 months!!!
Avatar n tn You probably can take them together as they are different types of medication. Promethazine is for nausea and percocet is for pain. They will make you extremely sleepy, so be in bed and ready to rest. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I am also prescribed percocet and I get 150 pills a month and I take it in addition to extended release morphine for chronic back pain. On average, I take 25 mg of percocet daily and up to 30 mg a day along with 60 mg of morphine per day. I have never had a morning after headache from the percocet. The maximum dose of acetaminophen that can be taken daily is 4,000 mg. So with 325 mg in each pill, you took well under the maximum dose.
Avatar n tn ve taking percocet for a while and I take a stonge does 10/650 two times a day. I have a very bad back and neck and was suppose to go in for facet blocks again to help with the pain.
