Percocet and percodan

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet and percodan

percocet

Avatar n tn Just a quick correction...Percocet is oxycodone with Acetaminophen, and Percodan is Oxycodone with Aspirin, not Tylenol. There are other, less common combinations, like Vicoprofen, which would be Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Vicodin, Norco, Lortab are all Hydrocodone. Dilaudid comes both in oral and injectable forms, with doses starting at usually 1 mg. Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.
Avatar f tn My mom is 79, a diabetic, and takes percodan on a regular basis. Has for 2 years. Last week she took 45 in one week. Is she in dangering her body? She's had an abscessed tooth for almost 2 years and hasn't gotten it looked at until last week. she is getting it pulled next week. Do you think the abscess has caused any damage to her body that cannot be fixed? Help!!!
Avatar f tn Norco is the same active ingredient as Vicodin and Lortab (hydrocodone), but the Tylenol (acetaminophen) content is lower at 325mg than the 500mg in Lortab and Vicodin.
Avatar n tn My husband takes dilanitin for seizures. He had to take a drug test for a job and tested positive for barbituates. Does any one know if this is common?
Avatar n tn Are you still on percocet or percodan? Those will make you constipated. If you reduce the frequency of taking them, or when you stop all together, your constipation should go away.
1054018 tn?1254614684 Thanks for the input sandee! I take Vicoden HP or vicoden 10/660 (the big boys). I am perscribed 4x daily but, some days might take 1x @ bed some days might take up to 6x only take when in extreme pain. Already have liver profile done about 2 monthes ago, everything looked good. I have some family members in medical field who are suggesting switching to percodan. Has no addictive qualitys and don't of course mess with liver. But very scared it wont help at all then I'll be stuck with it.
Avatar f tn I used to pride myself in my knowledge of pills and their contents and markings lol. A percocet or endocet is Oxycodone IR (instant release) or SR (sustained release). Lortab or more commonly referred to as Vicodin or Norco is Hydrocodone. They both contain aceitomeniphen which is tylenol.
Avatar m tn so now a doctor swiched me to percocet 10/325 tylenol and gave me some zantacs. do u think he did a good idead r is he an r -tard. i found no evedince of tylenol causing ulcers or bleeding in the stomach just liver damage if gone over the limit. i hope it helps with my stomach pain. ibeprophen *****.
Avatar m tn If you are addicted to Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab), and you ran out for example, taking any others including Oxycodone (Percocet, Percodan) will work for you. And by the way Oxycodone and Hydrocodone are very similar in nature and are equally addictive. You should think about coming off everything. You mention deciding not to take the Norco and taking the Percocet instead, same difference basically. Also, you mention the Percocet possibly becoming an addiction.
4204073 tn?1361831476 m just curious what they are because I was asked if I wanted any. They said they were 5 mg percocets with no buffer and I said no. I asked what no buffer is and was told no acetaminophen. I've never heard of this, so was curious if anyone knows what they really are?
Avatar f tn The short acting one is better know as Percocet or Percodan. So your question needs a bit of clarification. Your best bet is to contact your local pharmacist, They are the true experts in medications and their interactions.... and their expertise is free. Most pharmacists are more then willing to help you with any medication questions. You are more than Welcome on our Pain Management Forum, although there may be additional forums that you may find helpful.
Avatar m tn I am a machinist and must go up and down steps into and out of a large machine all day. I am seeing a pain management physician and have tried nerve stimulator, pain patchs and percoset. Currently I am using the knee patches but feel like the long term use of percoset is causing me to have other health problems, i.e. ?liver damage, erectile dysfunction, etc.
Avatar f tn But even percodan and percocet have apap and aspirin in them. But I did need pain relief. So my md wrote for a drug called OPANA its oxymorphone. It is a schedule 2 so most doc's don't want to write for it. But it has nothing else in it. As a pharmacist myself I felt safest taking that. Alittle tylenol is ok but I would have been taking 3 to 4 grams of it and that bad. Mention it to your md, see what he says.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum and read your post today from this past spring. All I can say is WOW, the courage it must have taken to do what you did is inspirational. I used duragesic patches for about 8 months along with percocet for chronic pain that no dr. has been able to identify the cause of to date. I weaned myself off of a 50 mcg patch by dropping 12 mcg each month, and that was extremely difficult. Not sure what strength you were at however at any strengh that stuff is evil!
Avatar m tn Taking the second issue first, that can't be known at this point. Back pain is a huge source of disability, and it is impossible to predict who will do well and who won't. I can give you some general ways to improve your odds of avoiding disability: don't smoke (smoking affects more than just the lungs!
528396 tn?1217526013 I took lortab 10's for what seemed like 4EVER. But, i also take/took MsContin 3x a day along w/ it. My dr. switched my meds recently due to my tox screen showed i do NOT absorb hydrocodone (lortab/vicodin). Maybe u don't absorb it either?! THE next step up for pain control is PERCOCET/PERCODAN (oxycodone 5mg. generic name)! I take 3 percodan's (w/ NO tylenol) a day ALONG w/ 3 MsContin 15mg. NOTHING gets me out of pain. BUT it helps EASE the pain.
Avatar n tn Hi...my history is this: 8 years ago had terrible back injury and since have had 6 surgeries. Over the years I've taken different levels of vicodin, oxy, morphine, percocet, percodan, neurontin...and muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, anxiety meds... Right now I'm doing the best I have since my injury. Currently I'm taking vicodin 7.5--4/day, neurontin 600mg--6/day and avinza 30mg--2/day.
Avatar n tn low dose formulations of oxycodone such as percocet(oxycodone/acetiminophen(tylenol)) or percodan(oxycodone/aspirin) which is most commonly given in 5mg or 10 mg tablets is usually given after certain surgeries and for people in severe pain. both oxycontin and percocet abuse has grown in popularity immensely in the past 10 years. its extremely drastic how fast it has arose to being a DOC for people. and the wd's are the same as other opiates of its kind like heroin or dilaudid.
356518 tn?1322263642 Individuals who divert and acquire pharmaceuticals through doctor shopping do so by visiting numerous doctors in an attempt to obtain multiple prescriptions for the drugs, particularly prescription narcotics such as OxyContin, Percocet, and Percodan. Doctor shoppers often falsify or exaggerate symptoms in order to obtain prescriptions for pharmaceuticals and often visit doctors they believe to be more likely to write prescriptions for such drugs.
Avatar f tn A look at an opiate milliequivalency scale would be needed or people experiment. And by the way Oxycodone is Percocet is Percodan is Roxicet, is Oxycontin (Oxycodone with continuous action for 12 hours).
Avatar f tn Now I am looking at disability because my chroinc pain is making it difficult--if not impossible-- to get through a work week, let alone sleep at night and have a social life. The pain is getting worse and worse. I am having spasms in my left hand (the side where the surgery was performed). My neck "catches" when I turn my head, which is pretty much impossible anyway since I have lost at lease 90% of my mobility on the left side--and that's on a good day.
