Avatar n tn I will soon be nursing my second child, I'm due any day and I have chronic hypertension. You should already be taking a pregnancy safe medication for hypertension and if what you're taking now is not safe for nursing, then your doctor will change your meds after you have rhe baby. Just make sure he or she knows that you are planning on nursing at your next appointment and they should be able to answer any questions you have.
Avatar f tn I got really sick and lost weight and then before I had a chance to heal up I was busy packing up boxes and moving them. I want to continue to breastfeed my baby but since all of that wear and tear on my body my milk supply is almost non-existent. I drink a lot of water and eat well, is there anything else nutrition-wise I can take to help my body recover from all this and get my milk supply back up?

I was in a nursing program so classes were on campus and clinical were at any one of five medical facilities within an hour's drive. My brother watched my son one day a week, my bf changed his work schedule to be able to stay home with him one day a week, and he went to an in-home daycare the rest of the week. I was in school for 2.5 years, just graduated in December having earned my degree as an RN.

Avatar f tn Suboxone has been used safely in both pregnancy and nursing and as long as you nurse your baby, s/he should not go through the withdrawals. Baby will wean slowly with you as you gently taper while nursing or when s/he weans down from nursing. Do communicate with your doctor or midwife so that you are on the same page. So, to reiterate, as long as you are nursing, the baby will not go into withdrawals. Good luck to you and my best wishes.

Avatar m tn Among babies nursed by HIV infected mothers, only about 10-15% catch HIV; and typically it takes 6 months before they become infected -- all the time swallowing several ounces of milk ever day. The fact is that breast milk has never once been implicated as the source of sexually acquired HIV, or of a new HIV infection in any human being except nursing babies.
