Common Questions and Answers about Percocet and lyrica

percocet

Avatar f tn my friend had back surgery and was prescribed to percocet for his back pain. Then he told me they gave him one day lyrica. He hated it. But still keep in mind he and I also were looking for that "buzz". Or just google it and it will tell you all about it.
1548147 tn?1293815905 t helping one bit. He upped my Lyrica to 75mg twice a day now and I am still taking the percocet as well. I have looked online and my symptoms seem to be just like the ones listed as fibromyalgia symptoms so I am going to make an appointment with my regular doctor on Monday and see if she can maybe run some tests to see what can be found and ruled out and go from there. I am just worried that this is something I may have to get used to and it really scares me because it makes me miserable.
Avatar n tn I been on this for 20 years after having 3 back lower back surg, i was taking 4 morphine and 5 percocet a day with lyrica 150 trazadone 100 and ambien 10 I stopped everything but my morphine for a while until my mom got sick and i had to take care of her and hurt my neck. so I started back taking the percocet but I told my dr i just wanted to take bthem twice a day.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar n tn I have been reading many of the posts here and feeling so scared about the dreadful withdrawal and suffering that goes on. I have a chronic pain condition and have been taking percocet for 1.5 years, I know I already have a dependency as I feel the withdrawal symptoms when I do not take it. I have just started lyrica and hope that it decreases my pain to the point that I can get off the percocet entirely.
Avatar f tn ve been taking Lyrica for about 2 years and am now down to a 1/2 dose on it. I have fibro/CFS and was taking OC the equiv of 64 percocet a day, and I'm only 120lbs. The Lyrica has given me my whole life back!! It works for neurological pain, as does Neurontin. For me, just me, it has been nothing short of a miracle as I was looking at taking full disability due to the fibro. The Cymbalta they say helps with the pain and depression, I take that as well.
779797 tn?1263618235 If you had been taking the percs for a while and it did what you needed it to do and then youstarted Lyrica and got real dizzy, I would say the Lyrica made you dizzy. I took Lyrica for a while and it always made me dizzy for 3-5 days until my system got used to it and then I was fine. Just something to think about...good luck!
Avatar f tn My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!! By the way, when I stopped the Tramadol completely, I was taking the same amount as you per day. The amount of Fentanyl you are on is stronger than the starting dose of Morphine that I was on when I stopped taking Tramadol.
Avatar n tn I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia and have seen a number of different specialists and tried lyrica, cymbalta and lots of different medications before my pain management doctor put me on Percocet. It is the only thing that helps me function everyday. I am now pregnant. My pain management doctor refused to continue to prescribe it to me even though I have been on it for almost 2 years now. She told me to take tylenol which doesn't come close to helping with the pain.
527890 tn?1263783127 My last rheumatologist treating was treating me for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylarthritis with Lyrica, Celebrex, Sulfasalazine for 3 years, and the pain has totally escalated out of control as Dallas heats up. I saw a new rheumatologist today who discussed Fibromyalgia with me today for first time by any doctor. She stated that she has never dealt with an HIV+ person, POSSIBLY misdiagnosed with RA/AS, and she is going to have to research.
Avatar n tn My daughter has been on multiple drugs over the last two years during diagnosis and treatment and is currently on Lyrica and Percocet. The Lyrica really seems to help her emotionally and physically but now I am worried about the continued use of drugs to alleviate her pain. She says she would just like to have her kidney removed in the hopes the pain will vanish. I, personally don't want this to be an option. Do you have an opinion or suggestions for me?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any expierence with this type od detox? Thankfull for any imput. Also Im on percocet for degenrative disk and recently had MRI and found I have a herniated disk I go to pain manegement but I feel like I cant take being on this medicine forever and so scared of the withdrawals.bjee934 This discussion is related to <a href="/posts/Addiction/Need-help-detoxing-perc-addiction-15-years-use/show/2204463">Need help detoxing perc addiction 1.5 years use</a>.
Avatar f tn I admit this drug scares me and I tried the Lyrica route and hate that drug. this was I am told the original Lyrica and Lyrica is supposedly stronger. I sure dont know what the answer is either. So frustrating!
Avatar f tn He also had some disc problems in his back and has been taking percocet for a few years. Recently his Dr. retired and he has been trying to get off the percoets but the with draws and the MS are making it tough. He has burning pains in his hands and feet. I don't know what to do for him and last week he went to the hospital but they didn't do anything. I'm at a loss here.
Avatar f tn I was not able to take Lyrica either. One rhematologist said that he thought it was over-rated and that you had to take such high doses to even see any results. Most people are not able to tolerate these high doses. Another thing to try is the generic of Musinex. Don't know if you could take it during pregnancy. But you could research more info. Just google Gufinisen used with fibromyalgia. There is a doctor Armond (sp?) that has come up with this treatment. It has helped some.
Avatar f tn Thanks! I've been diagnosed for 6 years now, and think I'm on about all I can be for spasms & nerve pain & pain in general (Lyrica max dose so I can still walk, Baclofen near max & Oxycontin and then there is the backup Percocet for the bad pain. Not to mention the meds for my intestinal non-working well issues & severe fatigue at time....just to name some.

491030 tn?1242424766 I was put on Lyrica for Fibromyalgia pain, and it helped with the pain, but it caused me to be out of it and tired and dizzy all the time. I finally had to quit it. But, I have heard it helps a lot of people. So, at least give it a try. A lady I work with takes it and it works for her! Good luck!!
Avatar m tn Lyrica is for nerve pain, percocet and other pain meds usually wont help nerve pain.
Avatar f tn Post surgery I had a few complications including nerve damage in my leg and pelvic arthritis. I was on percocet lyrica and cymbalta. Once the nerve damage got better I stopped the lyrica and cymbalta. After going back to work after surgery, I was afraid of taking percocet (im a teacher) so the dr gave me tramadol. 2 weeks ago I had steroidal injections in my pelvis and asked for something stronger because the tramadol wasnt working.
Avatar f tn I tried Lyrica and Gabapenpentin with horrible side effects also tried amitriplyn and am on Celexa for depression. I use lidocaine cream and sometimes baclofin but Percoset has been the only thing to take the fire like pain away. Problem is I think it's not working as well as it used to 10 mg 3 times daily. Is it the generic version that is the problem should I ask for name brand?
Avatar f tn I have 2 bulging diclsc in the lumbar fegion that are sitting on the l4 l5 nerve and sciatic nerve. Plus arthritis in upper lumbar region. I have been on so many meds and the only thing that helps is percocet. Any suggestions? My doc wants mue on thelonger acting meds with minimal break through meds. I dont do well on oxycontin, any suggestions?
1588890 tn?1297073916 s a month ago, Percocet 10 for breakthru and Lyrica for my Fibro. I am trying to quit smoking and HATE that gum! Was thinking about the patch but was wondering if it was safe to have both on? Any suggestion?
Avatar m tn I am very new at this so bear with me as I may ramble a bit ........ I am a Auto/Diesel mechanic have been for years . I have never been addicted to pain killers as I have a very high tolerance for pain . I have been known to get a script of hydrocone and it last for months and months as I only take it whenand if I needed it .
Avatar f tn Hey guys, I was takin 40-50 pills of coricidin (the OTC cough med for people with high blood pressure), and cuz i couldnt get them one day I over dosed on xanax and ambien and lyrica. I take Lyrica for my fibromyalgia on a regular basis, was hospitalized and not detoxed medically was not given anything to help with the detox symptoms. Drank last night (10-30-10) 2 drinks and am a WRECK today (Halloween) going to a party tonight and taking my children trick or treating. I'm a mess.
1326416 tn?1370927001 Yes the doctor is writing prescriptions for anything and everything but oxycontin and oxycodone (and anything with that drug in it).
233622 tn?1279334905 I have been in a horrible amount of pain the past 2 days and been living under a percocet fog it seems. comes and goes. Im hoping my trip to the neuro this thursday will result in DMD and wont have to be takin all these meds.
Avatar f tn I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
